  1. I've recently moved in to a nice little condo apartment in Pattaya which has shared Wifi Access. The internet is fine for checking emails and facebook etc but I needed a faster solution for my work. I looked about and came to the conclusion that 'True Online' would be the best option.

So... I went all the way up to the Tesco Lotus to the 'True' shop and had a brief chat with one of the sales people. She asked me where the condo was and what floor it was on. It's in South Pattaya and it's on the 5th floor. She instantly shook her head and said "no, it over 100 meter, we can't do".

<deleted>? I asked her if there was another 'True' alternative and she shook her head and told me to try 3BB up stairs... of which I couldn't find. Strange thing is that I can pick up the 'True Online' Wifi signal of another resident in the building which is either above us or on the same level as us.

Does anyone have a better way of signing up to an internet provider? They were useless and couldn't answer any of my questions.

    Cheers.

  2. Anyway, you have asked for advice, please use it.

I did use the advice. Although it was difficult to find in amongst the endless amounts of petty squabbling that many TV users feel the need to bring to a forum post.

I asked at the shop that you and others suggested. They can unlock them for 6,000B and he didn't even bother acknowledging the fact I was mentioning a Gevy Sim to him. This was before he even look at the firmware or touched the phone.

  3. Right, well here's what happened at Tukcom....

Went upstairs to the phone shops in Tukcom... went over to the first one on the left that has the Apple iPhone and iPad logos plastered all over it thinking it would the logical place to go. The woman took our iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S for about 15 minutes... came back and said that both phones won't work with a Gevy sim and it will cost 5,000B to unlock both and it will take 3-4 days.

I'm guessing they are trying to unlock them online via the UK but 5,000 seems a bit steep. I didn't bother asking at any of the other shops in Tukcom. I'm not sure whether or not to believe her about the Gevy sim not working... seems like a rip off to me.

  4. One is an iphone 4 and the other is an iphone 4S. Gevey sim sounds like the best option. I would call the UK to unlock them but that will cost me even more in phone charges.

Do you use the gevey sim along with a Thai simcard?

  5. Have you tried in Tukcom ?

How long have had them on the Uk networks. I think they will give you free unlock code if more than 3 months.

    sent from my Wellcom A90+

Will give Tukcom a go. Thanks.

I've had the phones for quite a while but it would probably be cheaper getting them unlocked in Pattaya than phoning Orange and O2 in the UK to get them unlocked for free. I'd be on hold for ever.

  6. Hello,

Where is the best / cheapest place in Pattaya to get 2 UK iPhones unlocked? I tried upstairs in Central Center Big C and they tried to charge me 5,000 to unlock 1 iPhone that's on Orange? Laughed in her face.

One iPhone is locked to Orange UK and the other is iPhone is locked to O2 UK.

    Cheers.

  7. I'm sure you could arrange with your local bank in the UK to send them the notes to put into your UK account and then you would be free to do what you wanted. It would much the same as popping into a local UK branch and putting your money inside one of those deposit envelopes and posting it inside the branch.

The Banks in the UK should go out of their way to help you put money in an account.

  8. Hello TV!

I'm looking to rent or purchase a good solid safe in the Pattaya or Jomtien area. Not looking to spend too much if I have to buy one but it needs to be solid and obviously unbreakable. I'm not keen on the digital safes you see in hotels etc as I can get in to those within seconds. Any recommendations welcome.

    Cheers

  9. Jomtien is congested with Russian families, gay bars, aging bar girls, and traffic. There are no supermarkets or movie theaters, so to get to Pattaya you have to navigate 2 kilometers of bumper to bumper traffic.

What's to say that I'm not taking a gay russian family of ageing bar girls in a convoy of trucks?

But in all seriousness, I'm looking for somewhere quieter than Pattaya North, South & Central but still close enough that I can head along that area. Near the beach also.

    The search continues.

  10. Hello.

Looking for anyone who has an apartment for rent in the Suan Sawarn/Sawan complex in Jomtien or someone who can help me find an apartment. I've found one available on BKK Citismart but I'm still in the UK and it's not very easy to get in touch to ask them Questions.

I'm moving over on the 2nd of September and looking to move within a few days of arrival. Rental for a minimum of 12 months.

Looking to rent one of the cheaper apartments but open to see what is available.

Thanks for any help in advance.

  11. Comedy gold. I'm sure the exact same award was issued roughly the same time last year. It even looks like they've just copied and pasted some of the original text from last years article. I could get an Oscar award made for me if I thought people would believe it. Hell, I might even go and buy a Grammy.

Well done Bangkok. You've somehow managed to do it again. I love this city.

  12. Hello,

I'm selling all of my Apple gear in the UK before I move over to Thailand (Jomtien area) in September so I'm looking to replace some of it whilst in Thailand. Where's the best place to get a brand new Mac Mini and an HDMI computer monitor in the Pattaya area? I'm not bothered about an expensive monitor as it will be getting left behind when I eventually return to the UK.

    Thanks.

  13. Does anyone have any ideas where I would be able to buy a wooden artists easel, canvases and other art material in Pattaya or Jomtien? It's just to keep the girlfriend occupied whilst I work so not really looking for anything too expensive as it will be left behind when we move back to the UK eventually.

    Thanks.
