  1. Air Con units generally have a setting where only the fan is operational and not the cooling side of it. Doubt it would have much effect in drawing in the outside air though.

Better to place a floor standing fan by the open window or door so it pulls in the outside air.

  2. Here is a question.

If your main CU incomer breaker is 63A and you decide to have an overall RCBO to protect the downstream circuits (e.g. sockets, lights, aircons etc), then what size 30mA RCBO should you choose? IS there a rule or calculation that should be used?

Is it wise to assume the RCBO should be less than the main breaker? Does it really matter too much as the individual circuits have their own MCB's to protect them against over-current so a high rated RCBO would still be effective for an earth leakage fault?

    In the case of SquareD, they have 16, 20, 32, 45, and 63A 30mA RCBO's.

  3. Can anyone recommend a printer on Phuket (printing business, not something to connect to a pc) that can print custom stationary at a reasonable price. e.g. letterheads, receipt books with carbon copy etc.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. If you leave before Feb 11 there is no need to report - your first report will be 90 days after your return - or if you continue to travel without staying 90 days on any entry you will never need to make a report.

TM.8 form with photo and believe copies of passport data/visa/extension/entry stamp and TM.6 departure cards and the 3,800 baht fee.

    Thanks guys. Very much appreciated.

  5. Hi all, I need some of your wisdom to make sure i get this right..

My first 90-day report is Feb 11 but it looks like I have to leave the country for a short contract job on Feb 04. Should I go to report early and get a re-entry permit at the same time or do I just need to get the re-entry permit without reporting?

Also, what docs are required to get the re-entry permit (multi).

    Thanks in advance.

    TS.

Edit: I should have mentioned i'm on a non-imm O based on marriage extension to stay.

  6. <snip>

Thanks for the insight into your desktop - fancy putting "Hatari" there, you must be a big fan haha.

Windows doing all these tricky AI-type things pushed me towards the linux community. Good luck, AA

And what a desktop! I guess you never worked in a company that had a "Clear desktop" policy. biggrin.png

Some companies have clear desktop policies?

  7. Uhm - maybe I'm missing the point but if you want RCBO for Square-D box then that's what you want. What's the deal with DIN mount?

My box is DIN, need to fit a couple of RCBO and due to space want to use the single wide ones. Not into changing out the whole CU.

  8. No it's not DIN rail, it's plug in for Square-D distribution boards.

Got them from HomePro when we installed some in the condo.

I've not seen single-width, DIN mount RCBOs here sad.png

Cheers for the clarification. Yes it would be nice to find single width din mount. Maybe have to get some sent over from the UK.

  9. Is anyone using Square D RCBO like that on the attached pic? Can you tell me if it is din rail mountable as it doesn't look like it is from the pic.

The pic is from a poster that is up in Homeworks but when i asked the staff if they had any RCBO instock and they pointed to the MCB's. They didn't seem to know there was any difference bur when peering into the locked glass cabinet I couldn't see any so will need to find a SquareD supplier.

  10. We have Rokonet Wisdom system (Maxwell Security). Had it for about four years now. In that time I have only had to replace the detector batteries, no other problems and it has never gone of when it shouldn't.

It is a wireless system. Maxwell.co.th and you can change the website to english.

It will phone me if it goes off. I can arm and disarm it from my phone. I can zone it eg just set it to armed downstairs only at night.

Is this the batteries on the door sensors ?....got the same system in place and I know this sounds like a daft question, but HTF do you get the plastic enclosure open to replace the battery without breaking the enclosure..LOL...also were do you get the long life batteries they specify locally

I can do the PIR detectors no problem, but the switches on the doors have me baffled....which is not hard...biggrin.png

Yes, door sensors have a battery in them. You can normally see a little indent on the top or bottom of the case where a screwdriver can be used to pop it open. The batteries in my system are a 1/2AA 3.6V which can be tricky to find here but a good electrical supplier normally has them.

  11. Same here, I had to have my system sent over from the UK. Very good wireless system (on the 868MHz frequency with GSM. No IP though (yet). It has saved me once when someone broke in a back door while we were away (I received SMS's and notified security and police), luckily the burglar never managed to get anything but next door were not so lucky.

    http://www.quicksafe.co.uk/esp-infinite-prime-kit-wes.htm

Very configurable, loads of add-on sensors, X10 etc and reasonably priced. Only advise is to try and stay away from using PIR's as can get false alarms in Thailand due to gekko, spiders etc.

  12. I really hope this venture will work but have my reservations.

Max 30 passengers per bus every 30/40 minutes? Doesn't make for much throughput? Only 1 stop per Patong / Karon / Kata means people will still need to use local transport in the resort areas.

Anyway, good luck, and yes, definately install CCTV in the buses.

  13. Get a yellow book if possible saves all that trouble

Thats what I thought but last driving licence renewal they wouldn't accept yellow book only to have to go to immigration for a residence cert. Can't say that the yellow book is all that worthwhile considering the hoops you have to jump through to get one.

Merijn hits the nail on the head - It depends on the mood of that person on the day. Sometimes they don't like it when you have all your documents in order.
