Don't go to any of the chain shops like Charoen. The best one (and only decent one i've found) is Euro Optic opposite the Garden Plaza Mall on the 2nd road. Dr Maria Abalon there knows what she is doing.

Don't try to finance a motorbike, the interest rates are crazy, like 2% a month. Unless you are talking about a big bike Ducati etc which has a a dealer financed low interest deal. You will almost certainly need a thai guarantor.

In Thailand warranties don't exist

Surely nowadays you can buy a tablet just as cheaply which can act as a digital photo frame (and much more).

Here is the route I take in Google Maps : http://goo.gl/maps/RjzAx
And you can do the whole route via Street View there.
Edit: 1 Added Ps.
Ps: If you plan on driving a lot in Thailand, I would recommend buying a Garmin GPS with the ESRI/NOSTRA map on it.
For example: http://www.gpssociety.com/EN/Pages/productdetailfeature.aspx?SiteName=EN&Category=PND&ID=22
I must be old fashioned but wouldn't a paper map be easier and chaeper.

The papers today said that if the Scots vote YES then caMORON and Red Ed will have to go. What an opportunity !!! getting rid of Scotland, caMORON and Red Ed all in one go. VOTE YES.

I need to transfer some Pounds to Baht around the 16th Sept. Not sure whether to wait until after the referendum or do it before. Maybe with this latest poll i should do it before the Pound crashes.

Does anyone recognise the beach ???

Just make it clear to the tenant - it's my way or the highway.

In June 2015 the Ruble/baht exchange rate was around 0.961, and is now at around 0.859, more than a 10% drop.
Its likely that the Russian which are here didnt cancel their trip because of Draconian cancelation policies over there, and are now trying to spend even less to minimize the impact of this depreciation.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if the depreciation of the Ruble continues, and what will the impact on Pattaya would be.
It's at a 10+ year low right now. In 2004-2005 it was around 1.4. That's a rather large drop in 10 years.
Almost as bad as the Pound.

Because it was 1.8 million before.
What exactly makes it "a lot of car for the money"?I'll tell you why.
When this car was offered grey market only it sold for 1.8 million baht.
Once it hit the thai market for 850k it was considered a bargain and everyone wanted one.
Thais feel like it's a saving of 1 mb.
It is a lot of car for the money.
Anyone who was prepared to spend 1.8 million on the Juke obviously had a lot more money than sense.

Tuskfish. With the Truevisions box you can output a standard tv signal. If you feed this into a DVR you can record the signal complete with any sub titles. You can then play back the signal through any monitor, tv or pc. I never tried to show elsewhere but in theory you can play back the signal anywhere using a portable hard drive. There may be copy right issues however if not for personal use.
Having said i have not seen a DVR for sale in Thailand for some time but they must be available.

Get a kindle reader/tablet and order it over the web. So much easier/cheaper and you can get any book instantly.

Why are you sending clothes? For the cost of the post you could buy them new here.

I would never pay for gas with a credit card in Thailand, just asking for trouble. I always pay in cash and if possible with the exact change.

This was always illegal. If people took the risk and now get caught out it's their own fault. Their country, their rules and laws.

Despite what people say i think most electronics are as cheap or cheaper than abroad. So why take the risk of ordering from overseas. The exception might be the USA where everything is dirt cheap. I have recently bought an SLR camera and tablet and they were cheaper than the UK.

I considered those projects before i bought my condo but thought they were expensive for a non beach side location. Great though if you like the bars on Soi Buakhau.

I rented many vehicles before i finally bought a car. Toyota Vios, Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz. In the end i bought a Mitsubishi. They are as good as any other mainstream car and much better value.

How much is the expat car wash?
At the moment i go to one onThepprasit, about 500 metres down on the left from Thappraya Road, sorry don't know the name. 100 baht for outside, 140 for in and out. They do a very good job.

Thanks Paradise lost, will I still get hit with tax on these sites?
Not on Lazada.co.th you won't as it's a Thai business. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them last night and use them regularly.
Why do some items on Lazada show as "imported", like this Kindle reader. I presume that all the electronic stuff they sell is imported. Does an "imported" item get extra taxes added on.

I always use Lazada with their pay on delivery option. You can check the product before you hand over your cash. No potential problems with credit cards and their prices are very good.
