Back in the 80s we were trying the get back The “Tap Lang” or “Lintel,”  from one temple, which is a cultural artifact from Thailand: a stone slab with a relief of a sleeping Pra Narai (Vishnu) belonging over the door of a 12th temple. It was stolen from Thailand in 1960 and was later discovered in a museum in Chicago. The temple it came from was being restored, and Carabao wrote this anthem as part of popular protests for the return of the artifact. The campaign was successful and the stone slab was returned in time for the opening of the historical park in 1998. The video tells the story.  In this protest song, Michael Jackson is used as a symbol of America. The message of “Tap Lang” is, “We Thais have a piece of our own culture which is even more important to us, so take back Michael Jackson and give us the stolen artifact!” . There are a lot more stolen artifacts out there.

I continued to do my 90 day report by post which costs me only B28 including the B10 stamp for the return envelope. I pass the post office most days. A friend decided not to do his 90 day report because the COVID-19 immigration dept. said no need. Then he wanted to extend his stay and was told that he had to come in person to do his new 90 day report. Another friend went to get a letter confirming his residence to renew his driving licence and was redirected from Chaeng Wattana to Muang Thong Thani but the map was useless because the roads on the route shown were blocked off. Eventually he got there and he said that they had to wait outside in a tent for the immigration officer. They say the letters for confirmation of your address will take 2 to 3 weeks (before was 4 weeks). A totally illogical requirement, since your address is on the back of the Thai driving licence, which could be confirmed by showing your credit card bill.

The Americans did not like that the Guiness Book Of World Records showed the world's highest temperature on record as 57.8C in Libya in 1922, so they sort to discredited it in favour of their Death Valley. I worked in Libya for 6 years in Tripoli and in the Sahara Desert. In our Tripoli camp we had our own accurate weather station and this temperature was often reached in the summer. It felt like you were walking inside an oven at times and I used to check the temperature in the weather station regularly. The standard test used by the Thai Ministry of Health looks for people currently infected by COVID-19. The Japanese test is used to identify people who had already contracted COVID-19 previously, have recovered and have antibodies. The septic tank is an anerobic digester which produces a number of volatile gases and reduces the volume of detritus. It should be vented to high level above the building or the gas collected in a holder to provide cooking gas etc. If you use a chemical to stop the production of gas by anearobic bacteria, you will have much more sludge and need to empty the tank more often. However, I use an enzyme formulation from Bazi Green Solutions Thailand, that kills the smell while at the same time digesting the waste particularly the fats which provide the main source of sulphates that can produce hydrogen sulphide (rotten eggs smell).

Try reading the notice before you give fake news 1. They will be tested before they come to Thailand. 2. They will have to spend 2 weeks in state quarantine.

The problem with the Egyptian diplomats is that their was not a Civilian flight. The Thai Civil Aviation Authority does not cover the military side of Uta-pao Airport.

They already stated in separate news articles, in various media outlets, that these were flights that came from Malaysia and Indonesia and merely refueled in Thailand. no one boarded or got off in Thailand including pilots and crew.

You can drink the tap water here in Bangkok. A complete water quality analysis is published daily online by the MWA. There used to be problems with mains water pipe breaks so I have been boiling the tap water here for the last 26 years for hot drinks. I advised some people to allow it to cool down for drinking water or install an Ultrafiltration wall mounted filtration unit for drinking water. Allthough I manufactured large scale R.O. plants for many years, I advise you that R.O. water is not good for health as it has all the impurities removed. Some bottled drinking water manufacturers here have already dropped R.O. water in favour of Ultrafiltration.

They are testing food processing plants in Thailand for COVID-19 and that includes Salmon. You can even see a sign outside Oishi which states that the food is tested for COVID-19.

No. Only the Citiline which runs from the airport to Phayathai Station stopping at all stations. Some of the old Airport Link trains are being used on the Citiline. The problem is still with SRT's lack of parts for maintenance of the trains.

In principle you shall pay tax of retirement pension in the State where you are tax resident, i.e. Thailand – provided the money is moved into Thailand same calendar year as earned – but some DTAs, if not many (I haven't read them all), states in comments under retirement pensions that the DTA deviates from the OECD model agreement by saying that pensions can be taxed in both countries; which in practice mean that the state, where the pension is earned, also can tax the pension, and as double taxation will not take place, the other state will not tax the pension, or refund the tax.

There is too much misinformation being posted on the taxation here of expat pensions. I used to work here and pay tax so I have a Thai tax registration and tax I.D. card. I already pay witholding tax on my investment income and bank interest. I went to the tax office here when I was about to receive my state and other pensions and they told me that they are not interested in taxing my pensions or pension lump sums.
