  1. Usually what they do is the go to a florist and have a wreath made up. It has a sign on it with who it is from. The body will usually lie in state in the temple for a few days with the many wreaths there. At the funeral/cremation ceremony there will be a collection for the family (to help defray cost of a funeral).

I would also add that funerals in Thailand are more "workload intensive" than in the west. There will be alot of things to do at the temple as a part of the funeral rites. If this is a close friend you may want to help out at the temple. Like I said, this is not a one day affair (not usually at least), and there will always be plenty of things to do. There will constantly be family at the funeral. The monks will do different chants for the deceased. You could help out by bringing food to the family at the temple and for the monks. It depends on how close you were to your friend and how involved you want to be at the funeral. Also, the funeral rites may seem rather gruesome. One of the things they do is that they sometimes try to break the bones of the deceased. This apparently aids the deceased's body in staying in position. (The hands are tied together.)

thanks for the info.so the first thing is to get a wreath made up and present it

.Then chip in with any help that is needed

.Do the guys help out on the cooking, cutting up.or is that a female thing

  2. i have the seeds for wheat graa juice but have never planted it before,so if someone has can they point me in the right direction please.

Wanting to grow for the juice ,also as a green manure and covering of weeds, compost.

Can you get flour from the same plant as i,m dying on chappatti haha

    thanks

  3. I'm thinking of introducing the in laws to this for additional animal fodder. The yields are high and the protein levels around 14% so on a small patch you can have extra feed for cows & chickens.

I grow lots of amaranth, the chickens love it. Best of all it is super easy to grow around here, and it will grow in any season and any soil (sand, clay, or good compost)

It is a C4 carbon cycle plant, so it is able to conserve water by making oxygen at night.

I also grow some for green manure and erosion control on the sloped side of my garden.

    Comfrey (still small) :

The Comfrey is finally starting to take off now! It has been nearly a year, but the plans have many flowers on them now. Will update pics when I have more time...

can someone post the Thai names for comfrey and amaranth please in thai if possible.

also did you pick up the seeds here in thailand

  4. Was in Mae Sai today and doing my 90 days rapport-and have told my wife to ask them about this new office.

The officer completely ignore the question-and keep telling us about Central Plaza each mont-I got the feeling, that he had never heard about it.

i live near fang and i asked the man at the CM immigration if they had an office in fang as i,m tired of the 3.30 hour journey to cm

he told me to go to Mae sai no mention of Chaing rai That was yesterday

  5. if your friend is serious i would suggest sunshine.A few of my friends have been very satisfied with the competence and quality of the teachers

From there they will learn of which Thai teachers/masters to aproach if they want to advance

    but practise makes perfect

    good luck

thanks...but it seems that TMC is one of the few whose certifications are valid back in California... so he starts there on monday.

good for him though i would suggest he has a least 1 year of daily practise and learning before he starts to charge money

so many people in CM go on a one week 2 week course then talk about charging this and that .meanwhile hurting people

Thai massage is very different to other forms

    but anyway

    like i said good luck

  6. Interesting article on NHK yesterday regarding population migration to Bangkok, and how some of the younger immigrants were dissatified with their existence in teh Capital, and interviews with people wanting return to home and produce organic produce. Seems it is not just claims, but that teh Thai youth are becoming mire aware of orgainic produce.

Small steps but can only lead to good things.

How about renting a small plot of land and growing your own, then you know what is and is not used in teh production. I am sure many locals would be happy to rent out a rai or two on a yearly basis

I grow organic produce for my family and we have 50 talang wha (1/8 rai) for veg which is big enough. We also have another rai for fruit, 1/2 rai chickens and fish and 2 rai more for rice which is great fun. BTW interesting clip

Hi jungle chef.i also grow organic produce for me and the girlfreind on 1 rai.i am coming to cm on 12th so would be good to meet up and see your garden.getting back on topic there are small independent farmers .growers in the cm area.and yes some of the growers at the organic market do use chemicals and label them organic.

do you not have a small bit of land you can grow your own ..The good earth farm might be a good place for you to visit...i sometimes have surplus

  10. Juice does contains soluble fibre, as well as all vits and minerals, which is useful to the bodies digestive system where as the whole veg/ fruit wether eaten whole or blended containes unsoluble fibre which does nothing but provides bulk that uses energy to process but with no return. As with all health or alternative stuff, try it to see if it's good for you.

I have a hand juicer, auger type and the juice from it knocks my socks off i.e. it's very enrgising, potent for healing and nutrition, much more than from centrifugal type.

I'm after a hurom hu400 they look the business from the reviews, just heard juicerthailand have them but clicked this link insted as using phone hence bad spelling, honest.

hi leafmold you state that you havean auger hand juicer.can you tell me the make and where you can buy

,also why are you after a hurom hu400 if its so good

just curious and in need of direction about the hand helds

totally agree with you on the centrifigal ones being inferior regarding nutrition healing etc
