  1. Im gonna chip in with another shout out to Frankie's inn, which I have now been to 4 times, first time just the two of us, other times as a larger group. First visit was because our original choice of restaurant (Verace Pizza Pratumnak Soi 4) was closed. And wasn't expecting much from Frankie's. Wrong...amazing food. Great service. Not the cheapest in town but you can tell why. Highlights, the lamb strozzapreti, the deserts, any dish with the Burrata cheese (not sure if they make this in house. But it tastes home made..ye who knows). The Pizza,s, are great. up there with any high quality offering from Neapolitan style joints around. Had a friend here from Florida and she reckoned best pizza she had ever had.,..think she may need to get out more. If you're a wine lover, they have some great Italian wines,. and a bottle of very nice DOCG (I forget the actual name and region of the wine) was 1200 baht, comparing that to other restaurants in town I think it's a fair price. We just had the house wine last time and it was fine, think it was 500 for half a litre. I have had Pizza delivery twice and both times I regretted not just going to the restaurant to sit down and eat it there, it definitely looses a touch of quality when comparing in house to delivery...not by less toppings or flavour, but just the crust is better in house.
  2. There was a story of the arrivals fast track being closed off for BC passengers back in August, then reports of a U - Turn by the airport bosses. Has any one been through lately and can comment on the current situation? Thanks,
  3. There are two places or more maybe, that sell them through Facebook and online outlets delivered to your door, not cheap at 150+/kg plus delivery. When Macro Pattaya gets them they are way cheaper. Its almost the end of Jalapeño season here in Thailand as I saw the online sellers adverts the last few months but this year haven't seen any for sale in Macro..
  4. Any map showing where all the stations will be located?..I have looked online for info but other than the press releases telling you costs:) how long the tunnels are etc can't see much detailed info.
  5. Was just looking for a box of Beer Laos and found that the new GO wholesale supermarket Sukhumvit has pretty much all the Beer Laos, didn't see any green, but IPA, Gold, Dark, White and regular and what I was after was the 640ml bottles which they have in regular and gold.
  6. So went to immigration for a 30 day extension. Was there at 8:15 and out at 10:15. Very busy as immigration was closed day before, Monday.. due to a holiday.. What's new to me was even though my extension was submitted early morning at counter 1A, with all fees paid. Is that its next day pick up.. If I don't pick it up tomorrow, and go next week...will there be a problem?
  7. Also, Some handy info for anyone on a motorbike going to the embassy. There is a good supermarket (Megamart) about 100m further up the road on the same side, with a security guard in the parking who gives you a ticket for parking which is shaded. Inside you can leave your helmet at the customer service counter, get a cold drink etc. No charge for parking.
  8. Just an Update, Went into Laos on the bike at Chong Mek, and out at Vientiane. I put motorbike as the mode of transport into Thailand. As Dr Jack mentioned, proof of entry isn't asked for at the Thai Embassy even though it's listed on the website and form. So all I used was Bank statements, a 3 day hotel booking in Udon for arrival , and a flight booking out before the 60 days., and al the usual copies of passport and visa pages. I used my Kasikorn bank statements but the guy complained it was printed too small...and that the balance had dipped too low at times...he was just nit picking so I didn't argue, went outside and got my other bank statement printed of at one of the road side shops. Back in went back to the front of the queue. All done in around 1 ½ hrs.. applied Tuesday morning, collected Thursday afternoon.
  9. Ye if I was just going for the visa I would fly or train/bus to Vientiane, But I do enjoy a week or so of motorbike touring around Laos, so thats the plan. In at Vientiane and out at Huay Xai/Chiang Khong. I will email Thai embassy and ask about proof of exit with motorbike...will update if I get an answer. Thanks,
  10. Thanks Jack, maybe I wasn't clear....Im not asking how to get a motorbike into and out of Laos, I am wondering how I can satisfy the proof of travel into Thailand for the purpose of satisfying the documents required while applying for a single entry tourist visa...normally folks would upload a flight, train or bus ticket. Where I would be driving back into Thailand with no ticket.
  11. Going to get a SETV from Vientiane and checking the required documents "Travel itinerary to and from Thailand and accommodation e.g. plane/train/bus ticket" I will ride my Thai registered motorbike over the border and once the Visa is issued, spend a week or so in Laos then ride back over the border. So would the import papers for the motorbike at Laos border entry be enough to prove Im going back by motorbike again? Hoping some one has first hand experience with this. Thanks..
  12. Chicken Enchilada's - Central eatery food - Sorry no pictures as ive eaten them both. Ok, ive never had Enchiladas before so I doubt these are authentic style, but I thought they were great. Just a hint of spice, shredded chicken, cheese and a tomato sauce.. While I was at tops central mall yesterday I picked up 2 of these Enchiladas from the Central eatery grill right behind the Tops checkout. I actually thought they we're 55 baht each, but when I took them to the till they were 55 Baht per 100gms. So it was about 300 baht for the two. I prob wouldn't have bought them if I knew the correct price when I ordered, but I will buy them again. Very good.
  13. yes there are a few. normally only run a few days per week...or maybe on demand if there's enough people. And all the prices are up... A lot.
  14. yes for sure, I would imagine you could this yourself no issues. the only thing I don't know is wether the Cambodian side will let you back on the same day without any payments...maybe some one else can comment with experience. the only time i did this border was before with a van company from Pattaya. so of course we had no issues. I was once at Poipet with a friend who went over and they( Cambodian Immigration) point blank refused to allow him to leave Cambodia until the next day.
