  1. OK, so I am on a one year extension of stay. If I marry a foreign girl, does that also put her on a one year extension of stay?

Yes, the requirement is that she originally entered on a non-immigrant visa.

If you have a wife she can piggy back on your extension of stay as a dependant, as Paz says she has to enter on a non-o visa and then you can go to immigration with the proper paper work and apply

  3. I think they want the photo page and the most recent and current stamp pages on lt -- not historic ones

I was told every page, and I remember that they took copies of every page last year. I'd rather spend the 1 baht per copy and be prepared, then to not spend it and then end up needing it.

And what dates would be considered current, and what dates would be considered historic?

  4. This is what I needed last year at Chaengwattana. Have there been any chances?

Passport (signed copies of each page)

Departure Card TM (and copy of it)

Thai Bank Book showing at least 800,000 baht (and copy of it)

Deposit 100 baht more into bank before going to immigration

Letter from Bank (Letter has to match the amount in the bank, including the 100 baht deposit)

    Three(1) 4×5 cm photos

    Copy of proof of address

    Completed application TM-7

One thing that doesn't make sense to me, I was told that at Chaengwattana, the letter from the bank has to be written on the same day of going to immigration, but two K Banks told me that it takes 1 to 2 days to write the letter. How can a person have the letter written on the same day, if it takes 1 to 2 days to have it written?

I made the 100 baht deposit on Monday, and the bank had the letter ready for me today (Tuesday).

Will this be a problem that I made the deposit and the letter was written 4 days in advance?

Last year, there was a K Bank in the Chaengwattana building that wrote the letter for me on the same day, so I hope they will do that again in case there is a problem with the letter that I have now.

  5. I recently heard that ED Visas have much stricter rules now, and can only last for a very short time, about 8 to 10 months.

For guys that have had Filipina girls here on ED visas, what is the way to do have a foreign girl stay here long term now?

(No degree, so she can't get a work permit)

There is no "way". She can continue being on ED extension of stay.

What are the rules now for back to back visa runs?

There are no changes. Repeated visa exempt entries is not allowed.

OK, so I am on a one year extension of stay. If I marry a foreign girl, does that also put her on a one year extension of stay?

I'm on a retirement visa - not that I am in any rush to get married, but if you are on a retirement visa, and marry a foreign girl, does she also receive a one year visa?

An one year extension of stay, not a visa.

  7. You didn't say if you had a car or motorcycle license, so:

If you've been riding in the USA you will just need to hone your skills and keep a sharp lookout in all directions...

on the other hand if you are a car driver with nil riding experience I have to ask  "Are you stupid?"  It's a crazy place to learn how to ride!

But you can, if necessary, attend a riding school to get up to speed.  Honda has one and it's well known.

Get some basic skills and then get your license.

I didn't even know that there was a difference between a U.S. license for driving a car or a motorcycle, and no, I don't have a motorcycle license. I want a motorbike (not a motorcycle), because it would be more convenient then the BTS, buses, taxis, and driving on the back of motorbike taxi - but I definitely realize that one of the cons of driving a motorbike in BKK, is how dangerous it is.

  8. Not only could blocking facebook possibly hurt those who use it for business:

For me, it's a great way to keep in touch with and communicate with so many of my friends and family back home, which is especially important now that I am in a different country and cannot see them in person.

Messaging, sharing pictures, with all your friends and family all at once, is much easier to do with facebook then with regular email.

Not that I don't have my criticisms of facebook, I do, there are things that I don't like about it - but it's better then not having it at all.

  9. For good Mexican goto tesco and cook your own or take a trip to in Phnom phen.

I would cook my own Mexican food, if I had an oven. But I only have a burner. I rent a small room and I don't even have a microwave, but maybe I should get one, at least I could make nachos with a microwave. What other Mexican food can be cooked with a microwave?

I can make tacos with a burner - but do they even sell taco shells at Tesco? Do they sell everything that is needed to make enchilada's at Tesco? I haven't even seen taco shells sold there or at Big C.

  10. Extensively covered in this thread : http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/610050-where-to-get-good-mexican-food/

My two favourites are La Monita (Ploen Chit and Paragon) and El Mariachi Taqueria (Sri Nakharin), which is owned by the Mexican chef who helped to set up La Monita in the beginning.

Thank you for the previous extensive thread. I read all of it.

La monita seemed to be most peoples favorite, but then suddenly it started getting many bad reviews.

La Monita, El Mariachi, and Tacos & Salsa seem to be the top 3.

Which is best for quailty food, which is best for price, which is best for atmosphere? Is there not much difference?

Food quality is my priority, but if there is not much difference, then I would like to consider the price.

P.S. - Not to complicate this, but I am from America, and I like Mexican American more then I like Authentic Mexican. I've had Mexican food in Mexico, but I actually like it better in America. (And I don't mean taco bell! I mean great Mexican American restaurants. (Mexican American, would that be defined as Tex Mex?)

If I were you I would try them all, including the Paragon mini-branch of La Monita's.

I tried Tacos & Salsa. The guacamole was a little bland but ok. I've had worse nachos, but they weren't great, average at best. The beef taco was like a Thai taco, not a Mexican taco, the beef tasted like Thai beef and was difficult to chew. The cheese enchilada did not look like or taste like an enchilada, it tasted like salsa, it was terrible. I won't be going back. The price was not worth the value. I don't have high expectations that I will find very good Mexican food in Thailand, but I'll still try La Monita's and El Monita's.

  12. La Monita ploenchit....by far the very best and I did not like mexican before, this place is great food.

Do not even think to rate it alongside sunset

    La Monita looks very good.

Do they serve margaritas and or sangria? I don't see that on their menu.

  13. Can anyone please recommend a good Mexican restaurant in Bangkok?

I live near Bearing BTS and don't want to have to travel too far, so any recommendations along the BTS or even the MRT would be appreciated.

(Please don't say Sunrise Tacos, I think the food there is terrible. I also tried Coyote and was very unimpressed. I'd love to have some real quaility Mexican food.)

    Thank you.

  14. Make your cell phone a hot-spot - if you have a 3G plan.

No apps needed, a built in feature.

With a wi-fi plan it is tethering - most often a buit in feature too.

    What is your phone model?

My cell phone is an i-mobile 5.6

I have a mobile 3G plan with dtak. I was able to connect with the wi-fi hotspot tethering.

Thank you tv members, for your help :)
