Indeed life goes on, and it always will.
But families don't 'need' to be separated at this time, this is not World War 2 with fathers going away to fight for their country, the analogy is idiotic.
This (the point we are discussion) is about families being separated because someone in a position of decision making power has made the decision to ignore the plight of separated families.
If Thai Citizens are being permitted entry to Thailand, the decision to prevent entry to foreigners with fixed ties to Thailand is unnecessary - this is the complaint people have. We can deal with it, our families can deal with it and life will go on. But, it doesn't need to be this way.
The answer has been made abundantly clear is this particular debate and previous ones. Non Thai's are treated as second class citizens in Thailand. People with ties here can moan and bitch about it but it isn't going to change until the Generals say so. So sit tight, keep the money transfers coming to maintain your dependents and wait until the borders open.

3 hours ago, Zikomat said:Many of those "stranded abroad" are in fact just the temporary sponsors on temporary permits of stay. Remember: only a Thai person can be a husband to a Thai. I know it sounds harsh but this is the way the Thais see the world (including your so called wives). Wait until the borders reopen, get another tourist-like marriage visa and come back to your partner.
This is a sensible assessment and in fact is reality. Farangs will never be classed on the same level as a Thai.
In a lot of cases the Farang's wife has been married to a Thai before. She has one or several kids.
When the "Sponser" (Husband, BF etc) dies or they separate / divorce the "Wife" moves on and finds a new Sponsor. This is fact seen it many times. Farangs are used as stepping stones by Thai ladies.
Some will live with 2, 3 or more Farangs in their lifetime, accruing wealth as they go along. Just accept the role of the "Sponsor" and enjoy your time with your chosen Lady. If you're not happy pull the plug and find another. Plenty Ladies in Thailand looking for a "Handsome" Sponsor.

Millions and Millions of Thai people are only making around 300 Baht per day. Your statement is ridiculous and untrue. The only people making 5000 Baht per day are Thai's with very good jobs and profitable business owners. I doubt even the very best high class wh@res are making that sort of money, well not now anyway. Thailand has the biggest disparity between Rich and Poor in the world. Travelling around the villages in Isaan is proof of this Your regular Thai person is very poor and it wont change anytime soon

Good News indeed. Time to get rid of some of those stuck up pseudo HISO cabin crew. The ones that used to sit on their ass€s most of the time during long haul flights. Second income smuggling goods will go as well as all the free flights. I used to be a Platinum Member of Thai traveĺling around Asia on business. No sympathy for them. Very very lazy condescending people. Thai Airways not a patch on the Middle Eastern carriers in my view. I wouldn't mind betting it's the younger, good looking cabin crew working hard at the back of the plane that get fired The older lazy hags will likely keep their jobs. I'm glad Thai Airways doesn't owe me money for canceled flights ......

Some 78.87% chose "health over freedom" when it came to bars, pubs, clubs and discos.
A brilliant quote to feed the conspiracy theorists amongst us. I absolutely do not believe this poll, there is no way nearly 80% of people said open everything else but keep bars pubs, clubs and discos closed.
How can you prove your statement?

Open air pubs should pose no threat providing social distancing is observed. Sweaty GoGo, Karaoke and Girly bars should remain closed until deemed safe to open. If there is a further virus problem it will spread quickly in Bars where Bar Girls are employed.

To be expected. Most other countries will end up the same. However, I suspect the Bankers and Government will manipulate the Baht and keep it strong.

Look at the history of infectious diseases, the worse in the last several decades have come from China. Why? because of the filthy wild animal practices prevalent there. The human race will eventually become extinct, most probably because of an irreversible virus initiated from China. You can laugh but this is reality ......... live your life to the full, may be it old, young, decrepit, or otherwise.

And why not? The USA and the UK rule. If a vaccine is to be found it will come from here. Certainly not S.E.Asia

Good idea about 30yr bonds, and soft loans.
Easy to critisize, but if you'r not open to listen to someone who understands by experience vs theory then you should move aside, or just move????
Your entiltiled to your view as are others. Many will say and conclude he's just a stooge for the Chinese Communist Party. All he's interested in, lke others have said, is making money for himself and promoting Chinese influence in Thailand

The lockdown must be hurting his businesses and wealth. He's in dreamland like so many others. Reports are coming in that Wuhan and other Chinese cities have
reintroduced lockdowns. It won't be safe to open the borders for a while yet. I agree now is the time to ease restrictions to see how things pan out. If there's a second wave then they have two options 1. let it rip through the country and the fittest will survive or 2. another lockdown.

I just want to get back to my home in Thailand. Stranded outside the country and going insane. Costing me a fortune. How about updates for a plan for those on retirement, spouse and other resident type visas who are stranded overseas. Repatriation of Thai citizens first. Yes I agree. Then please allowing foreigners on relevant visas with residency in Thailand next (rental lease proof, Chanote, utility bills etc), COVID19 clearance and home quarantine for 14 days. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
I feel sorry for people locked out of the country who have wives, families etc. However, the writing was on the wall well before the borders closed. Many saw it coming and acted appropriately (those with the appropriate visas) maintaining their stay in LOS. Granted some on business trips etc. were maybe unable to act quickly enough. All they can do is sit it out and hope things get better sooner rather than later

Yet another piece of verbal diarrhea which can be taken with pinch of salt. They're in the deep and smelly. It's time for them to finally realise Farang Expats contribute a significant amount of income to many Thai's. However, they'll soon forget when Covid blows over.

Complete pie in the sky thinking. The strategy changes every few days. They are living in dreamland if they think that age group will rescue the tourist industry. Many will be in debt, out of work. People with real money will go to better places than Thailand. Looks like they don't want older tourists, however, they are the ones with disposable income.

1 minute ago, Jeff Simoneaux said:So what does testing many more people accomplish? More panic and more shutdowns. You would have to test every person in the country at the same time. And that wouldn't be accurate since the virus has an incubation period of 14 days. So you would have to continuously test every person.
The idea in the beginning of all the shutdowns was to flatten the curve and not overwhelm the hospitals. Thailand has far exceeded that plan and now people want to change the goalposts.
I disagree. Nothing will be gained by people burying their heads in the sand. Covid is here it's not gone away. Why do you think all the restrictions are still in place? Test, Treat, Isolate and Trace. That way you will get a handle on the true scale of the outbreak.
