She has been instructed not to test people for Covid 19 even if they show the symptoms and to put any cause of death down as a result of Pneumonia, heart failure or similar. Anything but Covid 19. The hospital is experiencing three time the number of deaths than they would normally expect at this time of year.
If she does not comply then she will lose her job and she could face prosecution. Staff are both fearful of catching it and fearful of speaking out for fear of the repercussions.
Problem is that going forwards overseas governments will place restrictions on people travelling to countries where they are not being honest about what is really happening,
There is a big fear that a second wave will come with people returning from places like Thailand. We have seen what has happened in South Korea in a single nightclub. We are walking on thin ice here and an honest country where lockdowns have been eased will take tough measures to make sure it does not come back in from the outside.
All these lies will come back to haunt Thailand. Given the effect on peoples jobs and livelihoods, citizens from these place will most likely opt for a holiday in a country where the truth is being told and where the quarantine on return will not be required.
At last! A sensible post giving an actual account as to why the Covid 19 numbers in Thailand are so low. Don't bury your heads in the sand! There is still a problem here.

Unfortunately very weak, only good for 1 or 2 mugs of tea from 1 bag and 200bht.
Tesco Original was strong enough for 3 or 4 mugs/bag and cost 115bht.
Heladiv works out at 3x-4x the cost.
Nothing wrong with Lipton Yellow Label Tea which is freely available. If you like a strong brew leave the tea bag in a bit longer

I'm rather disappointed that she didn't kill herself when she tried so hard to do so. Only a matter of time until she gets it right, I'd guess. Someone that stupid really can't be expected to survive for much longer.
Problem is because of her stupidity innocent people could have been killed. She needs naming and shaming and banning from driving. Highly likely she had no driving license. Complete idiot.

U turns are death traps. More traffic lights needed. Roundabouts have their place too, however, because Thais drive so poorly they don't know how to use them. Speed kills. Both Traffic Lights and Roundabouts would help to decrease dangerous speed especially in urban areas where most of the U turns are problematic

Hard to believe. Surveys differ widely on this particular subject

You forgot sex ....... travel to Thailand was always driven by men looking for sex, nobody came here for the beaches.
Where in your list is the sex?
Yes that's so true for a lot of lone men travelling to Thailand. They can't get it up in their own country for various reasons (age, looks, lack of success etc. so they look for cheap Bargirls in Thailand. Dont tar everyone with the same brush. There are many other reasons why tourists etc. come to Thailand. There are many fine beautiful Thai ladies in Isaan who have never seen the inside of bar, GoGo joint, massage parlour or Karaoke bar.

They Rule Makers here are Chinese whos families escaped here years ago my father in law came from such people ,hes not old siam stock.Just compare pictures of the Beijing Government. Same as the Thai today Not a narrowish Old Thai face in them, and some one asked Why do they bend tourist rules for Chinese.
10% of the Thai population is of Chinese origin. As I've said before on this forum the Banks, Big Business etc. are run by Thai / Chinese families. The Chinese will always be welcome in Thailand, they can do nothing wrong .........

Still a few cases every day. One GoGo bar in Nana BKK was boasting in fb it will be back open again in 6 to 8 weeks. I think that is wishful thinking.
One friend told me one GoGo bar in soi Cowboy had 21 cases with one death. If these places are opened up too soon there's a good chance of a second wave.
If they tested more they would find a lot more cases.

Last night around 7.30pm....many couples and groups on Jomtien beach drinking....it's either close the beaches or ban the booze...take her pick
Well there you go then! The minority who break the rules make the majority suffer.
Boozing on the beach at this time of restrictions is pure stupidity. Pattaya areas should think themselves lucky that alcohol sales are allowed. There are three Provivinces where the alcohol ban still stands. The people there I believe are abiding by the rules and regulations. Because of the stupid and couldn't care a less attitude of some people, it would be fair justice if both beach access and alcohol were banned. Rules are rules (like them or not) break them and take the consequences.

Immigration Police have very little to do now.
1. Borders closed. No new foreign tourists
2. Amnesty for most visa classes because of Covid
They are trying to justify their existence by branching out catching the Begian motorist gaining some publicity at the same time
Regarding comments about Thai's being racist of course they are. Non Thai's will will always be second class citizens. Double pricing standards and anti Farang laws are a fact of life. We all know that and it's not going to change. We should accept this abide by the laws of Thailand and keep a low profile. I've travelled to many countries in the last 30 years on business. In my opinion every country I've visited is racist to some degree. This is life, this is the norm.

Thailand is controlled by rich
Thai-Chinese families. They control the Banks, Big Business and have most of the wealth. Thailand has one of the biggest (if not the biggest) unequal wealth distribution in the world. Thailand now is a satellite of China. The Thai Government is in hock to the Chinese and will never break free. The Chinese will come back in droves and will bring the next dirty devastating virus with them. Western countries should start to shun and boycott Chinese goods and services. They've caused mayhem and bankrupted countries. Many people will lose their jobs and livelihoods. The Chinese aim is to replace the USD with The RMB as the word's reserve currency. They'll be back spitting, defecating and p!ss!ng all over the place. I've travelled China extensively in the past to over 30 major cities and many towns. I've seen how they live and observed their habits. The Chinese will never ever change; Rude, noisy, pushy etc etc. We'll have to put up with them. Fortunately, I moved from BKK to Isaan so not many Chinese tourists around here.

Give it time, now that the alcohol ban has been lifted and mostly Thai's, and some others getting closer together and not adhering to social distancing rules IMO.

Almost to a person that have I spoke to, Thais were dreading the renewed selling of alcohol and were cheering when they heard the ban may become permanent.
And making the ban permanent will be fantastic for the Thai economy. “High quality” tourists want nothing to do with alcohol and especially do not want to be anywheres near those typical beer louts you see all over Pattaya and the upper provinces of Thailand.
The alcohol ban is a the best thing ever to happen in Thailand. Let’s make it permanent! Cheers!
Your talking absolute rubbish. What kind of sh!!te have you been smoking?

I’m basically tea total, totally so in Thailand, but abroad just now. But just to rub it in I’m gonna open this excellent bottle of wine tonight (it’s been hanging around for a year). It,along with the irony will be delicious and at the expense of all you lot tearing your hair out simply because you can’t get alcohol- the very definition of dependency-. Have a word with yourselves!
Don't be so smug. Your wine may have corked and rendered it undrinkable

You have no clue. I lived in Pattaya for 5 years. Wish l was there now. I would be helping feed people. Pattaya food cheaper and better than BKK. Everything accessible. In and Asian nation there's people scamming. Poverty created this.
If you think it's so good why did you leave?

People have been suggesting this for years but it seems nobody in Thailand has any interest in doing so. The sad fact is that scams and price gouging are a means of income for some. And in Thailand, where there's a revenue stream there are always brown envelopes.
Expats and tourist have a choice. If they want to be part of the sleazy scene in Pattaya et al and get ripped off left right and centre it's up to them. Others will vote with their wallet. Money will spend anywhere. Time they clamped down on the Criminals and Scammers and cleaned these places up.

Not a bad time to stop drinking altogether and spend the time and money to something else?
Some say that it takes 3 weeks to change habits, good or bad. Now we have ample of time to do just that.
Speak for yourself. People have (or did have) a free choice to take a drink if they want.

Numbers are numbers! Thailand was the first country outside of China to get the Covid 19 virus on the 13th of January. Miraculously, Covid has been contained in Thailand even though there were still thousands of Chinese tourists in Thailand in February. Ask yourself WHY is this the case .......
