If I remember correctly, Thais do not need to provided a letter they are Corona Free. Only foreigners.
I've checked how long will it take to obtain such a letter in my country... Minimum 5-7 days (if you're lucky). It's impossible to get it 72 hours before the flight.
And as for the insurance, none insurance companies have a special option for Covid.
For reference: Getting 12 month's Covid insurance in Thailand (I'm on a Retirement Visa) was no problem. Online form to fill in. On completion an email with a policy number and an emailed policy within a week. Cost 850 Baht.

Outstanding news. Now, let's get the nation up and running. Millions are depending on this. Very few here have the kinds of pensions or resources many on this forum have. Easy to say let's be extra safe when you are clocking 100,000 baht a month.
It is plenty safe to end the insanity of an economic lockdown. May 1st. Make it happen please.
For the zombie apocalypse crowd, if it were going to blow up here, it would have happened much earlier when there were millions of tourists here. It has already incubated long ago.
Heat, humidity, vitamin D from the sun, or just a great job done by the authorities. Who knows? But, it is gone, baby gone!
It's gone? May 1st return to normal? Your in cuckoo land. Get real.

Well this really is amazing and maybe true depending on the limited testing regime
According to a probably accurate timeline, the first Covid 19 case was discovered in Wuhan on the 17th of November a 55 year old man
The FIRST case of Covid 19 outside of China was discovered in THAILAND on the 13th of January
In February there were still many thousands of Chinese tourists coming into Thailand
Based on this WHY are the figures here so low? There could be reasons, hot weather, Thai people less susceptible to viruses like this or under reporting of the true figures (if the true figures are known)
Everyone has an opinion on this. Read the attached link

Insulting post. Expats live here for many reasons. Many quietly to escape from a previous unhappy life. They are not all Bargirl chasing alcoholic trouble making misfits. The Cheap Charlie reference is usually made from the I'm alright Jack @@@@ you brigade. Any Expat living here has to meet the financial requirements. Smug people should remember that circumstances can change very quickly in Thailand

There's not going to be a seasonal flu while social distancing and mask wearing continue.
I think there's a potential irony here, COVID could kill off the flu and many other viruses that do the rounds.
Very good point

I hope the numbers are accurate. Problem here in Thailand is the lack of testing which presumably the numbers are based on. Time will tell. I hope things will get better soon for many Thai people struggling with the lockdowns. However, I think it will be a while yet before they open the entertainment venues and allow tourists back in the country

Most long timers here have been through the rounds, the majority end up with Leo as their 'go to' beer.
Totally agree. LEO is the stand by beer for most longterm expats.

Its a good idea to ban alcohol sales in Thailand and I personally welcome it. ????
I say this because I have returned to Germany with my Thai family where the beer flows like water, costs about 10 THB per pint and is delivered to your door by the crate. ????
Here we will drink our way through the Coronavirus Crisis then sober up once it is over. ????♀️
After that we will return to Thailand where (because of the ban) there will be massive stockpiles of cheap beer available to celebrate our return.????
How selfish can you get! Watch out you don't catch the Covid 19 virus in Germany

Most Thai's don't like Farangs (but not all) They don't like the fact we have more money than the average Thai, they don't like us taking their women. They see the drunks in BKK, Pattaya, Phuket etc. chasing Bar Girls and behaving badly. In many cases it's the tourist that give us the Expats a bad name. If the cave rescue was enacted by a Chinese team you would never hear the the last of it. We are thought of as second class citizens. A lot stems from jealousy. We should just accept the situation. It's no good keep whinging on about it. Things will never ever change here.

The chinese created it, in their food wildlife breeding pens. Plus you have Thais who are diseased, coming back from Korea and so a scapegoat needs to be found. ... Obviously he has the backing of the Government.
This worked in 1997 Economic meltdown. Why not try to use the Big Lie once again?! He has, they have, nothing to lose.
I travelled extensively to China in the past. I've been to many cities and have seen how they live. The majority of Chinese are very clean and respectful. However, some have filthy habits which in some cases they exhibit in public. Most Chinese people will eat anything. The night markets (most of them very dirty) are full of all sorts of animals on sale for cooking and eating. It's no wonder that all major diseases like Covid-19, SARS Bird Flu have their origins in China. Let us not forget this virus started in Wuhan China and has infected the world. Other nations are being open and publishing the real effects of the virus. I suspect there are a lot more infected people in Thailand than the official figures state. If this is a fake Farang bashing statement then the Minister should disown it.

Interesting that Japan is also not included.
Japan is a massive investor in Thailand. Lots of Japanese / Thai JV's: auto's, motorcycles, chemicals, electronics etc. The Thai Government won't want to restrict travel from Japan if they can avoid it.

That's a great price- I was thinking you'd ask around 800K. If I didn't already have one, I'd be seriously considering yours.
Try offering it on the ZX14 Thailand FB page.
Thanks for the advice Rubber

Hyper Pro Steering Damper for ZX14R.jpgZx14R Steering Damper.jpg
Attached are pictures of Steering Damper I've had fitted. Note the spacer to accommodate the Helibar risers
I've only done around 70 kms on this bike, however, I've come to the conclusion I will never get used to the riding position. Too far forward for me because I am used to cruiser type bikes, I want to sell it and get another cruiser maybe Harley, Victory or Triumph. The bike is only a few weeks old and currently under wraps inside the house where I live in Udon Thani. If anyone is interested in buying the bike please contact me on the following email address - [email protected]
All reasonable offers considered.
I'm offering the bike at Baht 750,000.

I think the best you can hope for is that your exhaust is quiet enough to cruise past a checkpoint without arousing interest- I believe if an aftermarket exhaust doesn't have a TIS stamp on it, it's not legal for use on Thai roads regardless of what the manufacturer claims or the actual dB output of the exhaust (it's the same in the US and EU). Having some paperwork to show a cop wouldn't hurt, and if they have a decibel-meter you might pass, but if they want 'tea money' you're probably gonna end up paying it.
When I see a cop I pull in the clutch and coast by, and haven't had an issue yet- my exhaust is quiet enough to qualify for a TIS stamp, but it doesn't actually have one.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Ninja4me, I currently have a 2013 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic. I considered both the Ninja 1000 and the ZX-14R, I coudn't resist the 14 I'm 63 now and from England. I hope I'm old enough and wise enough to treat this beast with respect. I've fitted Helibar risers already and have ordered some Genmar risers from Ebay in the UK. I'll pick them up in June when I go back for a couple of weeks. The plan is to double stack Heli + Genmar, according to some posts on the ZX-14 Forum this can be done with no new cables necessary. I've only done around 100 kilos so far to Nong Khai and back. I'm itching to get out again but the water throwing just now is putting me off. Does anyone know where I can get the longer set screws required for a double stack set up?
Hi Ranshoko. Nice picture - love it. I was also looking into stacking helibar and genmar raisers, but ended up with only the genmars (wich I love very much).
I am quite sure that I have read that the original lines can be used with both raisers stacked. As I remember all you need to do is to cut the strips that hold the lines, tighten them up and restrip. That should give the extra length needed.
For me however, the extra 1"25' rise that the genmar gives is plenty. The longest single trip I have done is 3000 km (Hua-Hin - Nakorn Ratchasima - Mukdahan - Kalasin - Loei - Phitsanolook - Hua-Hin) with my wife on the pillion seat and with luggage, and it was no problem at all doing 500-600 km a day.
One piece of advice though. If you use raisers you should also get a higher windscreen. The one I have is the original kawa spoiler screen and I can only recommend it. Also if you choose to remove the pillion seat cover, make sure your passenger do not ride with high heels or you will get your exhaust scratched.
By the way. The akra slip-ons do come with a certificate that proves that they are EC/EPA approved (street legal/below 80db). So you can have something to show the BIB in case they object to the exhaust. Off course it is only valid if you also install the mufflers and the cat's and not use them with a full system - but I doubt that the BIB will be able to check that. I plan on getting the certificate officially translated when I get there. If anybody would like a copy just let me know.
Ninja4me - thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I appreciate your advice and note your comments. Your 3,000 km trip is very impressive. I'll be off to Loei in a couple of weeks (on my Vulcan) I have some friends there. Look forward to corresponding with Rubber, yourself and others in future.

Nice! But why is it on every single big bike from the last few years, the exhaust cans are so fugly. My new ZX-14R. I live in Udon Thani
Suzuki GSX-R1000 L3 182 hp in-line 4 Superbike
I think you either like them or you don't (most people don't) I will probably change them going forward, however, the Police are very Hot in Udon. I bought my step son a Ninja 250 last year and changed the stock can with a Two Brothers Black Can. It looks and sounds good. He has a lot of mates who have bigger bikes like ZX-10's R1's etc. A lot of them have been pulled by the Police and had to pay fines (2,000 Baht in some instances) because of "loud" exhausts. My step son hasn't been pulled yet but I've told him to carry a copy of the Two Brothers exhaust receipt issued by Kawasaki Big Bikes Udon to show the Police if stopped. The Zx-14 is new to me but I think the exhaust note with the stock cans is too quiet. I think it is good to be seen (proper clothing) and heard (exhaust) when your on a bike. If I do change the cans I don't want to be pulled by the Police every time I'm out and having to pay fines I would appreciate some comments on this topic from the experienced guys on this forum I often wonder how these guys with Harley's get away with it

You can definitely make it work with the double-stack even with ABS- it's just that you might (or might not) have to swap your lines (I changed my brake pads and lines before taking delivery of my bike, so it's not a big deal;)).
It's just that I remember reading something on one of the 14R forums regarding stacked risers and ABS lines, but I don't recall exactly what it was (it's not a mod I'm planning on doing, so it didn't stick in my mind)- I'm just tossing it out there.
Thanks - I'll let you know how I get on.

Are you sure you won't need longer lines for the double-stack with the ABS? You can get the non-ABS version in some countries, so when it comes to anything involving your brakes (risers, rearsets, etc) there can be some different equipment necessary if the poster who supplied the info has a different version than you. There might not be an issue, of course, but it's worth confirming.
Thanks for heads up Rubber. I'm not sure whether this guy had ABS or not (He was from Australia) Anyway, I will try the double stack if it doesn't work I may switch the Helibar with the Genmar. If that doesn't work I will stick with the Helibar. Of course the riding position is new and is OK for short rides of say 50 + 50 kms. I'm thinking in terms of longer touring rides. I've seen pictures of the LS bar set up, however, the bike doesn't look as good but that's only my view.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I've just bought Ohlins edition from Kawasaki in Udon Thani. I attach some pics and will let you know how I get on.

Three weeks ago I finally got my self toghether and ordered the Akrapovic racing line full systen (S-K14R3-ZAAT ) - so it will be delivered in another 3 weeks (6 weeks delivery here in europe). Just cant wait to get back to Thailand with it and try it out.

I'd recommend importing an exhaust as the prices here are extortionate. I've seen 17k฿ slip-ons going for 45k at Red Baron. The are many sites to buy from online. Sportbiketrackgear and Solomoto are two of my favorites. BTW, RubberSideDown. I know exactly how you feel about our 'friend'. I'm just coming off a 7-day holiday because I flamed him.
