There has been a move this year to stop foreign wives who have never paid any tax or national insurance contributions from getting any rights to claim money based on being married to a European. The UK Government is therefore stopping all payments to Thai wives that have never worked in the UK. If they have worked in the UK, then they will be entitled to their own pension based on how many years they have paid contributions.

This should lead to a reduction in the number of apparent suicides of married Ex-Pats, once they are receiving their pensions. I know of a number of "Black Widows", who have married several Germans in turn, that have died leaving the houses and pensions to their Thai Wives. One Thai woman from my wife's village was actually a lesbian and her friend that lived with them was actually her "Tom" husband. The last time I saw her she had a bar on Soi 8 Patttaya and her 3rd German husband had just died due to "alcoholic poisoning" and she was asking for help to get hold of her German husband's pension from Germany.

yes the governments of several european nations as well as the uk r trying to trim these payments ..they r astronomical ...the states had a problem years back with filipina widows ....i also knew a woman who married a ww1 vet a ww2 vet a korean war vet and at least two vietnam vets ...she had several identities the ww1 vet was 45 years older than her ...often relatives of recipients still claim long after the person receiving the pension has died ........apparently the worse country for this is the uk ....there is some sort of law there that only next of kin can inform appropriate govt dept .of deaths ....the welfare bill is killing western countries ..

Whenever we go travelling with Big Fat Dave and his missus she plays up on all this ghost cobblers until we get to a hotel she actually likes. Sadly Big Fat Dave is too soft to stand up to her so choosing a hotel can be a long, sweaty, laborious affair (as my missus takes around 50KG of luggage per hour whenever she travels anywhere) until, surprisingly we walk into a posh 5* joint...."no hab ghost here" she beams at everyone....so this holiday season we didn't ask them along....

mate can identify with u ...its a piss off ..people can take this very serious ...the philippines is even worse for this ...two hotels had bad happenings in them ...names not important ..girls would be reluctant to go there ...also mate bought a little house in the pi for his missus ...i kid u not she would not go in the joint because LOCALS said it was haunted ..white lady is the term they use ...he lost heavily on the deal ....

We were walking through Big C here in Pattaya 2 days ago and a farang came up to my wife and rather aggressively asked for donations to his charity. She threatened to contact the store manager and he took off quickly. Seems to be the thing to do these days.

yes it certainly is ......happening frequently ..not only in thailand but in oz as well ...u get a snide remark if u pass ...i tell them to FXXK off in no uncertain manner ....everyone knows they keep the dough ... i remember years back near soi po a guy soliciting for money for a charity ....that night at a massage joint he was there and cornered the three best lookers in the place .....

the face or rather faces r changing ...lots more chinese now r travelling ...they r now the no 1 tourists number wise ..mate works in a hotel in cairns its gone from 5%bookings from china to 95% in less than ten years ...he says they r tight fisted lousy tippers ...he loved the yanks or rather now regrets bagging them ...

mate saw it ...guy just walked or rather skipped in front of the bus ...the bus had no chance of stopping ...saw similar opposite mikes dept store ...guy just walked straight out into traffic ...baht bus slammed on brakes and stopped but got rear ended ... the guy just gave them a quizzical look and trotted off .....i bet thats the last time that baht bus driver stops for farang ....

a shade of that incident a while back ...young tart claiming rape ...two innocent guys collared and then truth all came out ....had had an argument with boyfriend over too close dancing with other tourists had slipped out with one of them and spent a few hours in a short time place and then claimed rape ...with two innocent thais ....fortunately cctv proved all bull shit .....she was sentenced but then released and deported ..

would not be surprised if he had gotten severely beaten .......u dont touch girls that r just there ....u dont know who they r .....does anyone remember ...a year or so ago two lager louts picked a girl up and dropped her on her head ....she was really hurt ... in that instance the two louts copped a bit of a going over by the locals ...we all know what can happen if u offend the locals

being burnt is absolute agony ....fortunately MOST not all people sleeping r already dead by the time fire gets to them because of fumes but still shocking ..hope justice is quick ...and whoever responsible thai or farang or joint operation is found out ...rip

i have a good mate who has lived in thailand for thirty years ....if he has a prob with dogs he is past complaining to the owners ...all he ever got was a blank look or told your prob ....now he just poisons them ....the dogs not the owners ...yeah i know animal lovers and hand wringers r incensed ...but thais do <deleted> all about dog probs ....ps i have a dog ...i love it ...i feed it and walk it every day ...but i supervise it and dont let it annoy my neighbours ...philippines is almost as bad as thailand as far as indifference goes ...they seem to get off on knowing their dogs r annoying people ...

mate the rents r terrifying ...good luck if u have a go but i would forget beach rd ...yes its always busy but like a mate of mine years back u r working 97 % for rent wages elect and water .....and if u r successful u start to get noticed and inspectors come for the most frivolous matters ...

i always tell them what the note is ...if in a bar i say just give me such and such back the rest is your tip ...saw a drunk shortchanged 900 baht in maccas one night ...he was legless ..but didnt deserve that ...we spoke up for him ....have a friend who carries lots of coins and small notes ...gives exact change everytime ...if he has been given good service he gives a small tip ....
