  1. Just received an email to say I have won $ US 1,000,000 in a POWER BALL INTERNATIONAL LOTTERY DRAWN IN BANGKOK THIS MONTH.

THE CONTACT PERSON IS REV.KANE LEE. PowerballTowers 45/4 Silom Road Radjamdamrin 23002 Bangkok

Tel 66.823- 337-743 and FAX 66 2734-5216 Strangely enough there is no response to these numbers but the phone does ring.

The email addres of the sender is quite cool

That is a new one for me.

So perhaps someone may care to check and report back. As I am 12,000 miles away a local could do it with less trouble than me.

    Waiting with anticipation??? :)

  2. Be spending some time with our families in Isaan, during July/August..

Family want to take us across to Laos, but unsure about proceedures to include Kiwi Falang.

Is it best to hire a Van of use own vehicle.? What is my cost and proceedure to follow.

Seem to be some grim stories about Immigration at Mukdahan.

    Thanks ttl Vince

  3. WILL BE HAVING A FEW WEEKS IN ISAAN WITH OUR FAMILY,WHO WANT TO TAKE US TO SUVANNAKET FOR A DAY TRIP

Most information on this seems quite old, so an update would be handy.

Not sure if we should use a family vehicle or hire a van from Muk.

For a Kiwi Falang, what would the costs and proceedures be.Seems to be some bad comments re immigration service in Muk

Any do's or don'ts?????Thanks in anticipation ttl Vince

  4. Been searching the web for hours, but Kia's main website, comes to a standstill when THAILAND IS INSERTED.

Seen the vehicles in Bangkok,no apparant website.Possibly linked with Hyundai, but that brings no result either.

    HEEEEEEELP please

Yep! i have the same problem just keep getting a brick wall. Hope someone can help. I am thinking of buying a Sportage anything from 2006 on will do.

Had a phone call from a Bangkokian who says there is an agent not far from MBK.She will try and get details.

Sportage is what I am loking for. International advertising says. 5 YEAR WARRANTY,5 YEARS TO PAY AND VERY LOW INTEREST.WORTH A LOOK. TTL

  5. HAVE A BUILDING PROJECT ON THE WAY.Have spent hours trying to locate a supplier,of such a system, in Thailand.

Have had no success in getting an email reply from any Hardware merchant.

Product range includes spouting lengths, connectors, corners, hanging brackets, and downpipe systems.

PROBABLY 90% of N.Z homes use this type of system

I wonder often ,why it seems the majority of Thai homes, do not effectively, collect rain water,

Guess Bangkok is the place to start but Isaan would be even better

Any information would be appreciated Thank you Vince

My wife and I have a property in Isaan, which is currently being renovated and extended, prior to our relocation.

We have used this system successfully here for many years, with total success. As I am unable to locate any similar products on line in Thailand,I have two trains of thought. One being to bring in our removal container ,sufficient product for our own use.The second option would be to import bulk quantities, under the FREE TRADE AGREEMENT between our counrties, and set up a marketing network, perhaps with some of the Thai Trading Groups.

The attachments will give a general picture of what is available. It is well worth noting that all the attaching components, corners, downpipes, connectors are available, and the guttering itself comes in 3 different profiles.

From research I have done in Thailand, the availability of large PLASTIC storage TANKS seems to be a major problem. Here it is very common for a property to have one or more 5000 litre tanks. I have only found small ones in Isaan, some stainless and others Plastic but perhaps 500 litres. The tanks would be very costly to import, could they be made in Thailand. To me there seems to be a HUGE POTENTIAL

The question I am asking is. 1. Can anyone advise a Thai supplier for these items.

    2. Would there be any interest from other people who may require such a system

    3. Any ideas of a Network Group who may like to distribute a range.

    Your comments would be appreciated.

  7. WE HAVE BEEN IMPORTING THIS PRODUCT FOR 20 YEARS AND SUPPLYING ABOUT 80% OF NEW ZEALAND THAI RESTAURANTS WITH THIS LARGE RANGE OF SHAPES AND STYLES.

Recently I was asked a question about the origin of the design, and if thers was a traditional signifigance to it. The range seems to often be a preference in Thai Restaurants world wide.In speaking with many owners I have received a variety of historical information. There was a suggestion that it was introduced about thie reign of KING RAMA 5,but not sure if that is correct.

Can anyone supply some informartion about this product.

Who was the designer? When was it introduced? Is there a special signifigance? Any other history?

Royal Thai Porcelain in Bangkok was a major supplier and I know there are other manufacturers in Lampang.

Any items of interest would be appreciated,so I can build my knowledge about the product. THANk YOU

  8. ABOUT 8KM NORTH OF NIKHOM KHAM SOI, on Highway 212,heading to Mukdahan, I have noticed on the left side of the road an operation selling this type of things. Some made with old wagon wheel components etc. Do not have a Name or number ,but the roadside display is hard to miss.

  9. WE NEED TO SUPPLY DOCUMENTED INFORMATION TO CUSTOMS DEPARTMENT.

THEY HAVE A BRILLIANT WEBSITE WITH COMPREHENSIVE DETAILS. THE MAIN THING MISSING IS AN ACTUAL POSTAL ADDRESS TO FORWARD DOCUMENTS. AN EMAIL ADDRESS WOULD BE EVEN BETTER. THERE IS AN EMAIL CONNECTION BUT IT WILL NOT ACCEPT A SUFFIX OF .CO.NZ FOR REPLIES TO, AND OF COURSE WE LIVE IN NEW ZEALAND

ALSO HANDY WOULD BE A FAX NUMBER AND PHONE NUMBER.

OUR EMAIL IS [email protected] Thank you.

  10. I NEED TO MAKE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THAI CUSTOMS REGARDING IMPORTS TO THAILAND.

IN NEW ZEALAND I CONTACTED THE THAI CONSULATE IN AUCKLAND. THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION OF FILE

NEXT I TRIED ROYAL THAI EMBASSY IN WELLINGTON. THEY HAD NO DETAILS BUT REFERED ME TO THE THAI CUSTOMS WEBSITE.( THAT SITE WOULD BE A 95% ONE BUT LACKS ANY CONTACT DETAILS.

THAT WAS WHERE I STARTED SOME WEEKS BACK,I USED THEIR AVAILABLE(unquoted address) EMAIL FROM THE SITE TO MAKE A REQUEST, HOWEVER THEY WILL ONLY ACCEPT A REPLY EMAIL ADDRESS WITH SPECIFIC SUFFIXES. .CO.NZ IS NOT ONE OF THEM.

SO I AM SURE SOMEONE CAN HELP. PERHAPS WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS (FOR PREFERENCE), OR A FAX NUMBER, OR A PHONE NUMBER, OR A MAILING ADDRESS.

    ANYTHING IS WORTH A TRY.

    My email is [email protected].

I REALISE I CAN GET AN ADAPTOR PLUG, AND TAP ONTO THE TOP OF IT. HOWEVER WITH NO EARTH CONNECTION WILL MY APPLIANCES WORK.MAYBE THEY WILL. BUT IS THERE ANY RISK OF ELECRICUTION. ANY ADVICE PLEASE VINCE ALLAN

  15. My wife owns a property half way between Nikhom Kam Soi and Mukdahan. WE NEED TO HAVE SOME RENOVATIONS AND UPGRADING FOR AN EXISTING HOUSE AND WILL ADD ANOTHER DWELLING. NEED TO GET SOME THINGS ORGANISED BEFORE WE REVISIT ABOUT JUNE OR JULY. A CONTRACTOR WOULD NEED TO BE ABLE TO DO SOME WORK WITHOUT OUR PERSONAL SUPERVISION ALL THE TIME . ANY RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS VINCE

  16. You can always get a water bore drilled. I got a 100 mm bore drilled down to 35 m for about 14000 baht. 7000 baht for a pump and there is plenty of pressure there for the house. The water quality is excellant for washing, cooking etc. We also have 8 1600 tanks as well but we still buy the 20 litre bottles of water for drinking.

THANKS FOR THE INFO ON WATER

THIS IS OUR SIMPLE HOUSE. FROM FRONT TO REAR. FRONT PORCH, FIRST TWO WINDOWS DOWN SIDE ARE LARGE LIVING ROOM, NEXT A BED ROOM AND 4TH WINDOW IS KITCHEN

SORRY I AM STRUGGLING TO LEARN HOW TO NEGOTIATE THE FORUM BUT I WILL GET THERE IN TIME THANKSpost-13886-1187854724_thumb.jpgpost-13886-1187854724_thumb.jpg

  17. HAVE 7 RAI WITH HOME THAT NEEDS RENOVATING,OR MAYBE REBUILD,PARTICULAR INTERESTED IN PRESSURE WATER TANKS, ELECTRICS,INSULATION,AVAILABILITY OF INTERNET SERVICES ETC ETC

Is the house in a village? If so check to see if phone lines are available. If they are then internet should be no problem. If not then you will have to go with a wireless system (satellite or CDMA using mobile phone network).

Does the house have water supply from the street? If so, then a storage tank with pump and possibly a filter is usually the norm. If no water from the street then you will need a well.

Need more info but would guess electrics will need a complete change.

Insulation will depend on current structure layout and building material i.e. concrete structure or wood.

If you have photo of existing house please post or PM me so a better idea can be had as to remodel or rebuild.

THANKS JIMMY, Will be on site first week in September to suss things out better.

Property has road frontage onto 4 lane highway 212, power is on but not phone. I am told phone transmissions very poor ,particularly for internet service..

Water is available at the road, but not connected. I come from New Zealand and the out of town water is usually collected from the roof spouting(which Thai roofs do not seem to have) ..held in say 5000 litre tanks and pressurised with an electric pump. Is this a NO No in Thailand???

Will post a photo in the near future. Steel roof, concrete walls, absolute minimum bathroom and kitchen.

    cheers Vince

C'mon... don't be shy... say hello.

Hi, finding it a little difficult to finding my way around forums.

I expect to be living in Isaan in about 6 months time with my Thai wife.

our objective is a small motel & restaurant business,on a property with a simple Thai house

already built.this we will need to upgrade

1/Seeking information on solar hot water system availability

2/procedures to construct buildings like motel units

3/ If we form a company, I understand it is economical to import a motor vehicle, taxwise

    thanks ttl
