I have had items scanned twice, so now I always look on the receipt for the number of items purchased. I also say out loud to them what money I am giving them, such as 500 Baht or 1 Thousand.

This project resides at the crossroads of multiple state agencies' jurisdictions, underscoring the
complexity of the venture.Thai way of organising committees, feasability studies, overseas fact finding trips, making a list between themselves of whom will be receiving which brown envelope. It is basically a fantasy project to line the pockets of a number of individuals who know nothing will come of it,, and therefore there will be no need to actually provide any tangible information.

Bum gun, luxury. When I was a lad, it was a squat toilet, ie a hole in the ground, with a bucket of water with a label for administrating the water.
We use to dream of toilet paper.
A hole in 't ground.....luxury.....We lived in a plastic bag in a septic tank.

I am never surprised by the pure blatant hypocrisy of the Thai netizens. Sure, what He did was wrong, however, The Thai people are the last to start throwing accusations around. Do these "netizens" go on a verbal rampage when they see their countrymen riding with no helmets, going the wrong way on the road, riding three or more on a bike, parking on red lines , double parking, drunk driving, my, the list is endless.

Yes my friend. Stuff ruined me, couldn't get a drink strong enough when I was back in the UK.
Years ago, before the liquid ban on flights, I knew several people who took it home in water bottles in the carry on luggage. Also, not sure if it is still happeninng, but there used to be an advert in the personal column of the Times, and Telegraph, saying Sid is home. This meant there was some ready for sale.

Not the sharpest tool in the box to address a drug shipment to yourself. Maybe identity theft, and the Brit has no idea?

To mitigate risks, the DDPM has coordinated with local authorities to set up 1,768 checkpoints staffed by over 50,000 officials.
Well, that is a joke in itself. From where I live into town is about 25 km. In that distance are 4 checkpoints. Motorbike riders with no helmets, or three or more on a bike, never stopped, pick up trucks dangerously overloaded, never stopped, pick up trucks with about 12 people in them, never stopped. I can however, say that at these checkpoints there is a dedicated team in nice khaki uniforms who are diligently giving their all to achieve a new world record in candy crush.

True... but the car still blew though a red-light and thus is 100% at fault.
But, your comments are valid from a perspective of self preservation.
Even when pulling away from junction on a green light, I think most of us look both ways as its not uncommon for other vehicles to ignore the lights or try and blow through so they dont have to wait.
Another facet of night time accidents is visibility - many folk have poor vision, particularly poor night time vision which is worsened by a strong window tint, in this case it was also wet weather... late at night, tiredness etc...
Yes Richard, while my eyesight is good at daytime, it is atrocious for night driving now. I will not drive anywhere at night any more, just too dangerous, I know my limitations........well.........one at least.....

The driver sits on the right and the car approached from the left. How flexible is your neck?
Bearing in mind he should be looking where he is going as well.
Sorry Sir look again, The truck is turning right, the car comes at the truck straight on the road he is crossing to turn right. It is night, they both have lights, how can he not see it coming?. If you are turning right at a juntion, or u turn, do you not look up the road you are entering to ensure it is clear? You do not need the neck of an owl to do that....

Although the pick up driver appears to be in the right, surely he would have seen the car bearing down at that speed, and braked, 0r did He just not look?

Just a thought, but if you are in Pattaya, try to look North, away from beaches, and tourist hot spots. Take a trip into the countryside, and see more of the local culture, and way of life. Wherever you go, please take care on these crazy roads.

The incident has raised concerns about road safety, especially for tourists, and local officials have pledged to review safety measures and improve oversight of tourist transport services to reduce the risk of similar accidents in the future.
Translation........Local officials spouted off the usual claptrap in order to make them look important, and caring. Whereas in reality they will crawl back into their holes, do nothing, until the next accident, when they will rinse and repeat. Nobody cares, life is cheap here, sadly.

the bus driver reportedly responded dismissively, saying, “I have no money. If someone had died, I’d just go to jail.”
Same mentality all across the Country, no accountability for their actions. He should lose His job, His licence for life, and be charged with reckless driving, reckless endagerment, willful damage, and more. However, there is no money in it so plod will do nothing.

I remember that, and did the Thai public not complain that it was picking on the lower classes, as that was their only means of getting the family around. So the authorities caved in and said ok then no more than six, and do not sit on the edge of the truck.

Failure to adhere to these speed limits can result in fines ranging from 200 to 1,000 baht, depending on traffic officers’ discretion.
We all know what that means. 200 Baht for a local, with maybe a ticket, 1,000 for a farang, and definitetly no ticket. BMW, & Mercedes will remain exempt.
