  1. Lots of speculation about what organization.

Like a pack of baying mongrels you took the bait when it was waved in front of your faces and thrown off stage, exit right.

The real point being whats an army general's son doing with the 'foreign brain-washer'

Surely giving voice to those ever popular, north-eastern political views being espoused around the dinner table.

What happens now, as the General has thrown the Ex-Pm under the bus.

The Ex- Pm found to be at play in the field of the lords...

And the trial of the year has yet to be concluded.

    Queue the dramatic cliffhanger music

  2. At the time, the company demanded THB1.6 billion compensation plus 7.5 percent interest, alleging the action star ditched the project "Ai Noom Kangnam" in which the company had invested THB26 million.

1,600 Millions for a 26 Millions loss; that seems about right. /sarcasm

I wonder why they dropped the case against the Hollywood studio, that made the movie, too. Surely the Hollywood studio had deep pockets. How much money has Tony earned them so far? Sahamongkol would have a lot less on my money if not for Tony Jaa.

Who was the famous Muay Thai boxer sued by his management team? It seems people want to dominate their main income earners. Oh, well. I'll add it to the rest of the million things 'Falang no unnerstan'.

edited to add: it was recently announced that the Por Pramuk camp would sue their cash cow for 100 million baht http://www.mymuaythai.com/archives/buakaw-sued/ One of the greats of Muay Thai driven into retirement.

    .

I am assuming an errant B meaning billion not million above.

    This is unreasonable compensation.

As is the 10 yr contractual obligation for Tony Jaa, a system which Hollywood dropped by the 1960's. It seems doubtful he would commit to, if he was unable to accept outside projects, being such a stellar property for Thailand.

Just a guess, but I suspect Hollywood has deeper pockets and better lawyers and threatened a counter-suit with real merit.

After all, Thailand is simply not equipped to play in the shark infested waters of litigation in which the USA reign supreme.

Lets not forget the woman with the hot coffee who got a lot more that 26 million Baht.

  3. Universal health care should be a basic right.
However its a huge cost burden on the public purse, demanding high taxation to fund it.

Its a mark of development and maybe an ideal Thailand could speak to and work towards in the ASEAN era of anticipated prosperity.

However taxation and income levels will need to change to service this ambition.

  4. one day everything you have ever posted anonymously on the internet with be attributed to you.

the gov. can do it now with a little effort when they need to, and one day it will be public info. just type in your internet id number and out it comes.

and soon you must have real full name to post... with your photo.

I wasn't issued with an internet ID number,

Where do I go to get one?

  5. The truth always hurts!

The truth is with all his faults he is still the best PM this country has had in the last 15 years IMO.

Not sure I would agree with the sentiment about best in 15 years.

However, he has demonstrated a willingness to root out corruption and reshuffle the deck to bust cronyism and graft in Thailand.

    That is undeniable.

As is the fact that a country is not the same as an army. Instead of coordinating a parade ground, dear leader is now in the position of herding cats.

And sensitivity should not be on public display.

  6. This is fascinating story, maybe the headline should read

The Crime that didn't happen in Pattaya

However there are some tantalizing details which tease the inquiring mind in this case.

The name of the friend 'Dor' - This is a Thai nickname for the male member?

The story being disseminated prior to plod visiting the locus in quo?

The reluctance of the victim to supply details to the police?

The intended purpose of making a charge of theft?

If this is not a crime will the 'victim' be charged with making false claims?

  7. This is a ridiculous situation which should have been sorted out years ago.

I recall an incident where an international flight was experiencing difficulties crossing Khon Kaen and was cut off from the Area ATC for 15 minutes, listening to the sultry sounds of Pirate Red Shirt FM (made up name).

Had it crashed there would have been more than a few orange faces around Thailand.

  8. This is wrong on so many levels ... and another reason I detest the UK.

His crimes were no different from 1,000's of others that Britons commit on a daily basis, so jail him ... or fine him ... but he hasn't killed anyone, and doesn't deserve to be deported, especially as he is the father OF a British child, that will (now, presumably) lose his father.

This guy really needed to have been more careful.

As a father, with responsibilities, he shouldn't have stolen over 2,000 pounds, or assaulted anyone.

I don't believe that murder is the line which defines when someone should be deported either.

Within this framework, anything up to murder is permissible, does this include rape/pedophilia - at what point do countries have the right to remove undesirable non citizens?

The nature of all defined crime is that it labels people who are not considered conforming.

If non citizens don't conform, they should be made to leave.

  9. This is the opposite of a pointing pic.

Here the alleged criminal is raising his hand to demonstrate how he would have hit the police had he hit them, which he didn't!

It was the 15 others (interestingly not present) which beat the cops with pick axe handles.

Something is not adding up in this story.

Perhaps its the fact the 15 others were members of his family?

  10. Thank god it was only a medium wound.

It could have been worse, a large wound (or Wound Grande in Starbucks)

Nice to see the security guard (coincidentally the brother of a local policeman), rushed to the scene, obviously a diligent helpful cove.

Its good the police have identified the blade what done the medium cut. (A size 4 no doubt, always causing trouble)

I am looking forward to the police finding some innocent way to connect the guard holding the box cutter with the box cutter and the accident that lead to the unfortunate immigrant's neck becoming involved in the accidental wounding.

The box cutter remains in custody awaiting trail and subsequent guilty sentencing..

I envisage a scenario occurring thus:

The helpful guard was helping the dirty unfortunate immigrants with cutting open some boxes when the incident began. Being helpful, he rushed to the scene to help the fallen lads up by pulling their collars, forgetting he had the box-cutter in his hand and accidentally slicing open the neck of the poor unfortunate.

In mitigation the helpful guard said "It wouldn't have happened if the dirty scum, I mean poor unfortunate was back in his own country".

Police will continue to help the workforce to accept the situation and return to work knowing justice is impossible for Burmese migrant labor in Thailand.

    Just ask Zaw and Win.

  11. Robbery you idiots!!!! That's the motive!!!

How do you know? Maybe he went there to collect his protection money and the shop refused so he decided to collect it in gold. When they resisted his gun went off accidentally shooting that lady. Since he was owed that bribe money for protection he was not actually robbing the place. Just getting what was due him in a different currency.

In the scheme if things in thailand my story is more logical than just a stupid robbery.

    Does this make him innocent?

that's actually more serious - extortion with menaces.

    Its kind of serial robbery.

    He shot someone.

The gun didn't accidentally go off.

It was loaded, in his hand, he was pointing it, in a situation where he is demanding gold.

I am going suggest that the interpretation of it "Just going off" is not reasonable mitigation.

I fail to see any part of this story where he is not to blame.

Including his injury. Which wouldn't have occurred without his precipitation.

Apperently you dont live in thialand.

Not only do I live here, I can spell too.
