  1. Not received anything as yet but I didn't get anything from Kbank either..
  2. Just rang Maneerat and they are saying they can still do visa extensions just something has changed with the bank no more details than that.
  3. I only went to get a TIN with a yearly bank statement as they had earlier requested and somehow ended up filing a return! The tax officer started to fill it in without me even realising what was happening or asking any questions.Luckily I had a copy of my wife's and her son's id cards to show her so I got all my allowances and deductions.... totalling 590,000 baht. I thought my liability was 0 after allowing for the uk thai dta but she wouldn't entertain that or appear to know what I was talking about so I never even mentioned pre 2024 money as I had no supporting docs.Because my liability came to very little and to avoid a return trip and the hassle of providing docs. I just paid up.The whole experience was bizaare.Next year I won't exceed 590,000 baht in remittances which is eas[ly arranged to ensure no liability.
  4. One way to avoid the inevitable chaos/complications and not pay too much tax is (if possible) to remit only slightly more than your allowances/deductions forget about dta's and money in the bank pre 2024.Not ideal but I got the impression filing at Jomtien if they could tax you a little to make it worth their time things would go smoother for all concerned.TIT.
  5. Not an ex government worker...although they never asked probably as they spoke little English.I was hoping to get credit for the UK tax paid not an exemption.
  6. Disclaimer this is not tax advice just my recent experience. In my case I went to Jomtien to get a TIN and ended up unexpectedly filing a tax return as I had a yearly bank statement with me detailing all my remittances to Thailand which actually saved me a return trip and I ended up paying a very small amount of tax. I had remitted money to Thailand from my UK pensions one private which I had paid tax on in the UK and my old age pension. However they refused to even consider the Thai UK dta which I thought would have reduced my liability to zero giving me the impression it was better not to argue. They also dismissed one debit card purchase from a UK bank.I suspect just like immigration offices policies will vary from office to office or even between individual officers.I left with mixed emotions glad to have the experience over with but also feeling my case was possibly not properly dealt with.
  7. i would add you have done all you can as many others have and that tax officers are the last people anyone wants to upset by repeatedly asking.
  8. There have been multiple such reports what a mess!
  9. Or it may be just assessable. The wording is vague IMO..taxable income in Thailand could be read as money earned in Thailand.
  10. Your experience mirrors mine and others I know it's counterintuitive to a Western mindset but if the <deleted> does hit the fan it's going to cover lots of us.2 friends of mine did the self certification today just like you describe.
  11. So as usual confusion reigns different kbank branches handling this differently. If you are tax resident in Thailand but have been denied a TIN until next year as some have surely you can't just say you are tax resident in your home country and start giving out N I numbers without lying? The whole form is badly worded I don't have any taxable income in Thailand because I don't have a job here which would be prohibited under my visa anyway.I can see another visit to a kbank branch looming as my certification may well be wrong even though I did exactly as directed..nothing is straightforward here anymore.
  12. fair enough we just have to make the best choices we can with what we know..
  13. Got to thinking was I advised correctly at my visit to kbank as it was ridiculously simple [reported above] so I rang the kbank call centre and repeated what I was told to do emphasising the ignore the tax resident in another country bit. They confirmed this was in order as I am not American. The call was recorded... might help if there are problems later. Can't see what more I can do.This is Thailand and things are interpreted differently in every branch office department whatever.
  14. The big one on Pattaya tai near Friendship.
  15. She told me to ignore the whole section..
  16. Just been at kbank for help with FACTA paperwork it was too easy. All they wanted was my name nationality passport number place of birth. They only want a Thai TIN number if you work in Thailand.Said tick no for all the US questions and ignore the tax resident in another country bit.Sign and date and the jobs a good 'un.Took 2 minutes.
  17. I'm interested in the TIN request form I'm going to kbank today can I just ask for one?
  18. How long before lots of expats decide it's just not worth it any more?
  19. I am non resident in the UK for tax then haven't been there for 8 years.
  20. And boy isn't the FACTA form confusing!Where it asks if you are resident for tax purposes of another country presumably they want your home country where your pension is taxed even if you are tax resident in Thailand and haven't been given a TIN?
  21. Thanks for the advice not decided exactly what to do.
