  1. its not just thailand ,google " carrier iq" and you wil see what the big players have been up to

and thats only the ones that have been caught

every click is recorded ,new policy in my condo just 3 weeks ago ,you must show your passport

when buying a ticket to use internet and then register to log in with your passport number ,email adress

    ,phone number etc

i assume this isnt because someone watched too much porn ......

  2. an immigration department ? if there was ever a cocked up department ,thats got to be it

imagine having to go outside thailand to get a stamp from a thai official so you can come back into ......Thailand ?

Imagine CHOOSING to live in a country where you don't qualify for a visa which enables you to actually live there!! clap2.gif

yes ,its really smart and efficient ,making people fly from BKK to Singapore to get a stamp from the THAI immigration office so they can be allowed to come back to BKK and study in a thai school .Einstein himself couldnt have devised such a clever system hit-the-fan.gif

  3. the difference is 8.5cc, maybe that is offset in the new SX with an increase in compression of 0.1 and possibly better combustion chamber in the new engine.

Gear ratio is different, weight is same and turning circle is worse on the SX.

Will be interesting to get a head to head between the 2; i wouldn't write of the new SX just yet until we get a comparison.

theres a thread about terrible fuel consumption from this new 125cc click

couple of guys were complaining last month that fuel consumption is in the 30s rather than the 50's as claimed by honda !

one guy was even going to sell his because of it ,also the fuel guage doesnt work accurately ,but do they ever ?

  4. What I think is the interesting consensus here is that most or nearly all the people who have bought some form of the ER6 was because its the only choice for a 650cc bike made in Thailand. I am yet to read here from anyone saying they bought it because they love the bike and it's just what they wanted.

On the other hand many people who bought the CBR250R love the bike. Sure, we all know about it's power limitations, but it's a nicely put together bike, efficient, handles well and good for most riding situations in Thailand.

As again for the ER6, it seems that the other half of the people who haven't bought one it is because we are not willing to pay a quarter of a million Baht and settle for a bike that isn't what we really want.

So just imagine how many more big bikes Kawasaki could sell if they put out a thrilling big bike made in Thailand that people would really want to buy for a change and didn't buy it simply because they have no other choice.

its not solely down to kawasaki that there is a piss poor selection of bikes available in thailand

i would blame it on the demographic ,the average customer in thailand is not a retired farang with

hundreds of grand to blow on a bike

last years "big bike " sales were nearly 10,000 units in a country of 67.5? million people

of those 10k more than half were just 150 and cbr 250s ,that leaves 5000 bikes sold from all the other manufactures combined

next biggest % were probaby ninja 250s and dtrackers

a very smal amount would of been 600cc+ or even super sport bikes

Basically the market is so tiny for these bikes that kawasaki ,yamaha ,honda and suzuki dont see fit to even cater for it domestically

why move factories and set up production lines and install machines and train workers for a market that may only be worth a couple

of hundred bikes per year BETWEEN ALL OF THEM ?

it just doesnt make financial sense ,unless like ,the versys etc ,they produce them them here for export also but theres talk of a minimum wage

being enforced so the cheap labour might not be cheap ,it might flood again and they could lose more millions ,a polictical riot might kick off and halt production and there could be many other reasons that we dont know about also that mean its not worth producing ss bikes here

I don't mean to patronize, but you are just repeating everything we discussed before about the economics of why there aren't more big bikes produced and sold locally. And that wasn't my point of my concensus.

My point was the reason why people buy the ER6 at all is that there is no other choice versus there being a deep rooted desire to buy one in the first place. So it's a bike that's hardly anyone's first choice, but sells heavily by default.

I am almost certain that if Honda sold a locally made form of a CBR600R that they would sell close to as many of them as they are selling of the CBR250R at present (which is incidentally the top selling locally made model bike right now above 150cc). And ,as a result ,probably would cause sales of the ER6 to fall through the floor.

a cheap locally produced yamaha r1 / gsxr 600,cbr 600rr etc etc would also probably send sales through the floor for kawa 650's

i wont be holding out waiting on it though,if it even happens i my lifetime :D

Why does it make financial sense to make the ninja 650 /versys /er6n in thailand ? but not any other decent/bigger bikes ?

im talking about for export ,because weve already covered the fact the domestic market alone is not worth catering for

interesting to know why its profitable to make a versys in thailand and not a zx6r or a z1000 for example

  5. 7,78 Kw equates to 9.5hp............ Someone said the click 125 has 14bhp, i'm a tad skeptical of the click's figure, however i was hoping for more power from the new Nouvo than what my mio125 has...... sad.png

if i needed a new scooter id snap up one of the last carb models ,i cant believe this is an "upgrade" with 10-20% less power and a higher price tag

nothing in the brochure looks like a game changer ,even if the cooling system is differnet ,the last one didnt overheat anyway so whats the use ?

new dashboard is a bit more digital ,but that shouldnt cost extra thesedays

  7. Yes, the HP of an ER6 is triple that of a CBR250R, but it's still not that much HP for a 650cc class bike. That was my point about it being a lot more money, but not that much more bike. A used 600 SS bike 4-5 years old in the price range of an ER6 would give you a lot more HP for the same money and a much more pleasurable riding experience. A SS bike will be lighter, more responsive, and a much higher spec. Sure, we can go back to the argument in favor of an ER6 that it is new, legal, locally made and serviceable, but it still not an exciting bike and not that cheap if you consider a what you could get in terms of higher specifications with a used SS bike in the same price range. I'm still not sold on the value of an ER6 for what it offers. Or should I say what it doesn't offer.

i dont know of anyone in the world that thinks the er6n is the best bike money can buy,its just the best of a very limited selection of bikes that can be bought legally in thailand in its price range ,the next nearest is the ducatti at 400k and its 800k for a proper litre bike from honda or suzuki or yamaha ......

look at the bikes it gets compared against in the USA and you will see there are more powerful alternatives but TIT and we are shit outta luck ,i would get the z750 etc or cbr 600 or even a hornet 600 with the detuned cbr engine in it or a whole pile of other bikes but i wont go over 100k thb on a non-legal/dodgy book bike so if i lose her im not losing an absolute fortune

spare parts availabiity and cheap servicing and not having my bike confiscated in the next "crackdown " is quite important to me so i wont be paying big money for any imports

  8. could gps them but it might be a bit too high tech for his purposes ,that would give him an average speed between point A and point B

the software is very detailed ,you can find out loads of stuff now and pinpoint your drivers at all times ,catch them stopping for a beer or

a massage whilst on the job ......

  9. karlos - Sadly for just that little bit more oomph the 650 will give you it will also cost a lot more than a CBR250R. Yes, compared to a legal 600 SS import the ER6 seems cheap, but compared to a CBR250R which is much more of a sport bike it just doesn't seem worth the price at more than double the cost. Sad but true.

a 650 is not a small increase over a cbr250r ,it IS more like triple the bike

twist the wrist on a cbr250r and not much happens

do the same on a 650 ninja and the front will lift off the ground

you must be a bit cautious on a 650 ,you can ride a 250 balls to the wall

a 250 is lucky to get 160kmph ,a 650 can hit 220 and gets up there a lot faster too

650 has abs as standard ,you need to pay another 20k to get abs on the cbr so its not that bad value IMO

sure ,a 600 ss is in another world ,but the total cost of ownership (price, import fees ,excise, parts ,servicing ,green book ) is

    in another world as well

  10. It really sours my mood when I go to a high end resort (5000 per night up) and they try to charge you some silly rate (like 300 baht per day!) for internet.

If they get like 5 guests use the internet one day and they have already covered the entire resort's internet bill for the month??

Seeing as the hotel already needs internet to function, it costs them nothing extra to have the guests using it. Except the initial cost of a few wireless routers.

    MORE LIKE 2 GUESTS

half of the hotels are on a basic (think cheapest) package they can get from the providor and they dopnt care

how slow it might be because guests have already paid to get the password befoe they can open a page and

find out how slow it realy is

appartemnts /condos are just as bad

sometimes charging 600-800 thb per month and maybe 20 rooms sharing a 599thb conection from true thats extended range via a bridge router etc

the profit is astronomical from internet raping in thailand

  11. you should be wearing a full faced helmet at all times on a bike anyway (ideally passenger also but driver for sure )

its hard to feel sorry for someone who crashes his bike because water went in his eyes

OK tough guy...try getting 5 gals of water with large chunks of ice in it directed into your face while riding. Ask my buddy Rodger. He the one with only one leg now. You can see him around Chiang mai still riding. His leg wasn't amputated. It was torn off in his crash. Songkran 2005. Love to see you tell him this idiot comment.

well sir ,either you are talking through your ass or it took a olympic grade athlete to throw 5 gallons of water any distance at all

have you any idea on the weight of five gallons of water or are you just spouting random shit in the hopes people will listen ?

what speed was he doing to have a body part as large as a leg ripped off by a bucket of water ?

do you ever think about reality before you make a post ?

Then had a thai guy thinking he was gonna smear his mixture of talc and Tiger balm in my eyes,

who puts tiger balm in peoples eyes ?

they put wet chalky paint on faces

i will also tell your friend he shouldnt have been riding at a speed high enough to cause amputation in songkran

also if 42lbs of water was throw horizontally ,most of it would miss him

if it was dropped on him from above then he again shouldnt have ben doing near that speed alongside a pick up in songkran of all times

in both cases ,a visor may have saved him ,BUT HE WAS STILL GOING TOO FAST !

  12. even my thai wife who is very well educated (by thai standards ) laughed when i told her and said its true

"thai people believe ,if youre walking down a road at night ,and in front of you is an indian and a snake ,you SHOULD hit the indian over the head

and kill it FIRST and then do the snake " :D

i was in stitches when i heard it but apparently its just an old thai proverb or something

  13. did you hear about the guy who bought his girlfriend a coffee shop, he didn't have a work visa, immigration guy took a photo of him holding a coffee mug behind the counter, he was deported, his visa cancelled HE WAS WORKING said immigration

Hmmm, I would say an inside job. He might want to check with the new owner of the coffee shop….His GF….She set him up. IMHO

    .

could just as easily have been someone jealous of him, like an x husband of his wife or someone who the guy annoyed in some way , customer etc

Id guess your right about him being reported though , thats why I would never invest much in q country Like Thai

no matter how long you been here, you could be kicked out tomorrow and no refunds is their policy....

  14. Corruption, hmmmm

It was like that when I arrived and a farang sure isn't going to change it,i should not make waves since I am an alien guest in this civilization and no body would listen anyway,I would be kicked out of Thailand or murdered if I started shouting about the corruption I have seen in the last 10 years and the levels it has happened on,as famous politician Khun chuvit says EVERYONE PAYS, EVEN YOU ARE A BIG MAN IN THE ARMY, YOU DON'T PAY TO POLICE YOU IN THE MINORITY AND YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLE!

Who are any of us to get in the way when such powerful figures are involved in it(or controlling it)

  15. I have bought one bike and one car outside of Bangkok and done all the ownership and province transfer in Bangkok without any problems. The process was exactly the same each time and easy to do. Perhaps Wana was missing the documents allowing him to transfer the registration province, as you have to do this on behalf of the previous owner before you transfer the ownership. That means you need two different power of attorneys (one for province transfer and one for ownership transfer) and another form to actually do the province transfer, in addition to all the usual ownership transfer docs.

What bike is it, and is it a grey import? If he claims it was dealer bought in Thailand you can just ring up the dealer and they will run a check on the VIN number to tell you if it was bought from them or not. If it all checks out and he has the greenbook then there is nothing to worry about. If it is a grey import, be very careful and fully check out that all the numbers match and there is nothing dodgy going on.

it isnt a grey import ,its a barely used r1 from yamaha bigbike showroom and its got an official thai book (not an under the table book )

I dont want to risk sending it with thai post because its in mint condition and id hope to get back in one piece ,even if it means

staying on the gas for hours and just stopping for breaks in petrol stations

the guy seems fairly straight up but anyone can seem that way when they pulling a scam !

  16. You can also send the bike by Thai Post from any post office.

You can buy a GPS at a reasonable price and bolt that onto the bike as well.

Well he needs to see it, well I would so he has to go there, wherever, so going there he would know his way back I guess, or just say " Want go Nakhon Sawan " pretty central to where you want to go in Thailand. laugh.png

the bike is only months old and hardly any km ,pretty much immaculate condition from the pics so im not so worried about the damage aspect

but will obviousy check ,its if he got the bike on finance or a bank loan etc and didnt make any payments etc

i was planning to fly there on a saturday and ride back (hard to remember roads when passing in the plane lol)

problem is ,bike needs to be inspected at his local dlt ,frame number + engine number etc

that means we cant do it on a weekend ,so it would be a monday /tuesday affair

i need my wife to negeotiate / translate ,whatever u want to call it because nobody speaks english at this guys house

and she has work monday to friday also so if we both cant work until wednesday ,4 days wages lost + flights + accomodation

its not so cheap after all,and i could do 800km in one day on a bike but she couldnt i think ,mite be funny to try but best to buy a gps also

i am not keen on having it shipped by a third party because they really dont give a f@@k and the chance of scratches or worse is likely

i wil think on it for a day or two ,see if anything can be organised

if i trusted the guy i could send him money to transfer it and ride it to bkk and pay his plane ticket home with a few thousand thb extra for the inconvenience

  17. i found a new bike and the seller is happy to take a small bank transfer deposit and keep it until the weekend but its in a small town far away and i dont mind riding it but 800km is a bit mental when you dont know the way and cant read the road signs, dont speak the language and there is a chance of bad weather

the thai guy doesnt speak english ,but says it has a legal green book and also tax + insurance but id like to get my name on the green book ASAP (same time we exchange the cash + keys )

i dont feel great about paying a shitload of cash and then taking a bike if the seller decides to stop answering phone calls ,i know he can sign page 2 Power of attorney form and give me a copy of his id card so i can transfer it without him but .........if it later transpires the bike has some unsecured loan or finance attatched i would have bought a whole lottta trouble and then i could never sell it also

  18. Take some control of the situation, if she hangs up your calls without having the courtesy to tell you who it was calling I would start answering calls on my own again and she would be banned from using my phone, you should pick up her phone next time it rings, listen a few seconds and then hang up, if she asks who was that just say 'wasn't important' and not another word

  19. These low cost Chinese bikes are a safety hazard,I would not ride one above about 40-50kmph for fear of it falling to bits , my neighbor had a ryuka and he was well proud of its low price...... For a couple of days until someone noticed one of the welds coming apart.... That was the first of a long list of stuff and within a couple of months he thrown in the towel and bought a Yamaha 135 like I advised him to get innitially
