  1. Can anyone help!

I'm using Genuine Windows XP Home.

Yesterday I did my weekly maintenance ie. antivirus check ( twice ) defrag. and tidy-up.

    NO problems found.

Closed computer. ( for a rest. LOL )

This morning when I open computer I am bombarded with pop-ups telling me my computer is at risk etc.

I also get what looks like an antivirus/spyware application from Windows.

After this finishes it asks if I want to remove the tons of problems it's found.

If I tick Yes, it goes to a site that asks for money for program.

I have tried, with my limited knowledge to delete anything that might be causing this but no joy.

I have Googled for Help but can't find any that did any good!

It seems more like a virus than anything from Windows.

    Any ideas Please! :):D

  2. Thanks Supernova! Tried method 1 and it seems to have worked.

Could you tell me what the cause of this was?

Also a few days ago Windows Firewall and Auto Updates were constantly turning off without me doing anything.

Is this a virus or trojan of some kind?

  3. Been having problems this last day or two with everything slowing down or not working.

Using Firefox but taking an age to open and then finding I cannot access the page I'm after.

In general not being able to update a page and then getting "page not available"

I know there's problems with internet, I'm with BTV in Pattaya and their Techies told us they had problems last week.

I have scanned several times with AVG and picked up a few Trojans which AVG elliminated. Also been using Spywareblaster.

I have defragged several times also.

I thought maybe if I do a System Restore it might help but when I click on it says S/R is turned off!

I have not turned it off! When I go to that page to turn it on again I cannot remove the tick from " Turn off System Restore"

At the side of tick in UNhighlighted print ( that, that looks if it's been rubbed out ) it says "turned of by Company Policy"

What's this? How can I turn S/R back on again?

Is this a bug or virus?

If anyone has an answer, please use simple terms as I'm not an expert when it comes to computers.

    Thanks.

PS. It says "Turn off system restore (disabled by Group Policy) next to box with tick.

I'm supposed to untick box to turn on S/R but it won't let me!

  4. No, it's not just you delboy. Although I've not bothered with the other channels, I switched on and went straight to 92 to watch the BBC news and got that stupid Phoenix channel whatever it supposed to be!

I couldn't understand why they'd split the news channels, BBC & CNN with what looked like a stupid Thai music channel.

Thai logic at it's best!! :):D

  5. Are you sure this was a Tech. from TT&T that called on you or just a figment of your imagination? :D :D

Sorry to put it like that but in 7 years of using their phone service including 1 year of ADSL ( 3 years ago now ) I have never seen a TT&T Tech! I thought they were all part of people's imagination!! :):D

  6. Even if you are forced to turn left there is u-turn in front of soi 22 that is only 100m away.... Same goes if you go straight down ratchada....

As skippy said, just make sure the light is green.

Thanks, that U turn may work out even better as I'm actually going to soi 23.

I knew I would have to turn left out of 23 but I didn't know how far I was going to have to go before I could U turn.

I was going to carry on down 23 and work my way over to Asoke and then back up to Suk. Rd.

Can't remember that U turn being there before but it has been a while. :):D

  7. It's a couple of years since I drove in Bangkok and I've not used this junction from this direction before, so can anyone help?

If I'm approaching Sukhumvit Rd. on Soi 21 Asoke, can I turn right at the lights to go along Suk. Rd. in the direction of Plonchit?

    Thanks.

  8. Hi guys,

I'm a newbie from Oz and really glad to be here. This site is a fantastic resource.

I have been interested in planes and helis in the past but suffered from being too ambitious like getting models that I did not have a chance of controlling. Now I'd like to try the opposite.

I have had a look on the net for electric foam trainers and see some that look basic enough. Tossing up making one myself to help keep me amused.

Most of the plans call for blue core or EPP. Is there anywhere local that I can get foam suitable for making planes?

Just in case the "I'll make one bit" is another overly ambitious thought, does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get a ARF/RTF trainer from?

    Hi There,

In Pattaya there is a shop on Pattaya Klang called Silpaban (spelling ) it is about 100 mts. from Foodland going towards Suk. Rd. They sell sheets of Depron and also other materials for making foam planes. There are other shops selling the same materials, one of them in Naklua. There are several model shops in and around Pattaya but if you are interested in Helis a good shop to visit is the one on Soi Khow Noi. This soi runs east from the Suk. Rd. Leaving Suk. Rd. approx. 200 mts. south of Pat. Klang. Go all the way east on Khow Noi until you see the Red Lion pub on the left hand side of road, the model shop is about 100 mts. further on. As well as selling planes and helis they have a flying field on the opposite side of the road where you can watch the flying and ask the guys about the hobby.

See also my other posts in this thread.

If you need any more info. send me PM

    Pete.

  9. Reading this post made me grab my pp only to realise I should have reported on the 2nd.

I have been sick for a while ( honest ) and obviously it has slipped my memory.

If I'd have reported last Friday the 8th. I would have been inside the 7 days but wasn't Friday also a bank holiday?

Any chance if I go first thing in morning I might get away without paying overstay?

There again, knowing my luck I'll have to pay so how much is it likely to cost me??

  10. There is a pool shop on 3rd. rd. about 200 mtrs. south of the traffic lights on Pattaya Nua, east side of rd.

I bought 20 kgs. chlorine granules there a year ago for 2200 baht.

2 weeks ago I bought another 20 kgs. from the new pool shop on soi Siam Country Club rd. near Route CC. again 2200 baht.

If you find it cheaper elsewhere, please let me know?

  11. If you are looking for the 1000 - 2000 baht toy helicopters, just find the cheapest stall and buy the cheapest helicopter they have as it won't last 5 mins.

If you are interested in learning to fly a "good" model helicopter then I would suggest you go to the model shop on soi Khow Noi ( sorry for the spelling ) Soi Khow Noi is located off the east side of Suk. Rd. about 200 mtrs. south of the Pattaya Klang intersection. Turn left into soi Khow Noi and follow the road almost to the top of the hill. Look out for the Red Lion pub on the left side of the soi and the model shop is about 100 mtrs. past this on the left side. Jim, the owner stocks a few helicopters and can order others. He stocks r/c planes and cars also. Across the road from the shop there is a field where many guys fly model helicopters most days, weather permitting. Tuition is available.

This is not an easy thing to learn and I would urge you to go and have a look and speak to the guys who fly before you purchase anything. Sorry if you're already a flier and just want to buy a model but if not, "BE WARNED" this is NOT a cheap hobby!

As I've told others, there is another flying site not far from this one. It is next to the Elephant village, sign posted from Soi Siam Country Club rd. and Soi Nung Plabwan. Sunday afternoon is a good time to go and watch planes and helicopters being flown.

Take some time to ask questions and get to know all the pitfalls before you spend your money. There are a lot a guys who will be only too happy to help.

Hope that helps with your query.
