  1. It's a very easy drive from Rayong to Khon Kaen even for someone who doesn't have much experience of driving in Thailand. The road is very good with lots of dual-carriageway, well sign-posted and plenty of fuel & refreshment stops. Take the 36 from Rayong to the 331 heading north, by-passing Pattaya. When you reach the 304 intersection head for Kabin Buri/Nakhon Ratchasima ( Korat ). The road through the hills is the only time you have to take extra care if it's busy. I don't know if the dual-carr. is finished yet in this part, great if it is. The 304 will take you straight through Korat over the flyover and then join the 2 which will take you to KK. Fuel in the Korat area used to be cheaper than anywhere else on that route, so it may be worth while trying to make your fuel stop there.

I have driven from Pattaya to KK in 4 hours ( true ) but for a more realistic time for your journey from Rayong I would say 6/7 hours. Have a good trip.

  2. Found my pal in a terrible state yesterday.

He was convinced he'd contracted bird flu.

After calming him down I ventured to find out what symptoms he'd been experiencing.

"Recently it's been taking me two hours to get ready for a night out, I've started speaking complete boll*cks and find it impossible to park my car !" came his reply.

Just tell him to go easy on the Chang until after 8pm. :o:D

  3. There's a Polo Club to the east of Pattaya, just down the road from Horseshoe Point. It's not too busy unless they have a special match on, in which case you may have to make a booking. The food's not up to much, not a big menu and you would be advised to bring your own drinks as with few customers the house wine tends to go off a little in the sun. Dress code is casual unless as previously stated there's a special match in which case there's a colour coded system. Just make sure your feet are properly shod and you bring your own brush and shovel for cleaning up after you've finished. :o:D

  4. I also understand the UK Probation Service are working with GPS satalite systems to develop a tracking device similar to the tagging system already in operation in the UK so that anyone serving time in the UK for benefits fraud could be allowed to visit their loved ones in Thailand. A trial system is being tested in Pattaya but doesn't let the participant enter Soi 6 or Walking Street.

  5. I know that its just banter, but us Brits seem to come in for a pounding as "Soapdodgers" :D

Well WE BRITS know it just isn't the case so WHO ARE the great "Unwashed"

Who are the smelliest Farangs in Thailand?

I would have done a Poll but the Poll Button seems to have dissappeared today :D

NOT ME! I get a good soak every Song Kran :o:D

Judging by your Nic, you are probably French and therefore excused. once a year is more than enough for you

Just like if I wore a red shirt you'd expect me to support Arsenal? :D:D

  7. If you are over 50 and can meet the 800,000 baht in bank requirement or alternatively 400,000 baht and pension of 40,000 a month etc. etc., IMO it is easier to go the plain retirement visa way instead of the support Thai spouse. You would need a medical cert which is easy to get and a letter from the embassy certifying your pension, but you won't have to supply letters and photos of yourselves and accomodation and maybe have someone from immigration snooping around your place.

  8. Nearly every Thai owned car & pickup in this area has a 2000 decibel sound system fitted. The noise isn't so bad but it's costing me a furtune from the vibrations taking out my fillings! :o:D

  9. Right now, Carrefour are selling 500 ml. cans of John Smiths Smooth for 125 baht each. The cans have the "widget" thingy so pour very good - drink from a glass, it tastes mich better. Not the best of British ales I admitt as only 4% but they make a welcome change to the rubbish we have to suffer over here.

As an aside, if you've never tried Red Horse, then do so. Lacks taste I admitt, but oh so smooth! :o

Here you are BambinA. Download this prog. it's free. When you take your series of pics. make sure there's something distinctive where the pics. overlap. This helps the prog. work better. As you can see from the demo. there doesn't seem to be any minimum, so shoot away and make that pano. Sometimes it's better to set your camera on manual and keep the same settings for each shot. Anyway, best of luck. :o:D:D:D
