Thank you all for the suggestions so far.

I know this has been done to death already.
But I'd appreciate updated leads for any new suppliers for a really good (English) sausage and (English) bacon.
Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. ...I know where you mean. ...... also a big print shop near the three Kings monument. .... I'll try them both tomorrow.

As per title.
Preferably within the moat or thereabouts.
Thank you.

Sunee's is Soi 2, off Thapae Road. She is beside Veerachai Court.
Her food is excellent.

I need to buy loads of paint (off white/cream), brushes and rollers.
And electricals - lighting and cable. And a gas two ring cooker. And tables and chairs.
Kitchen worktops also, and a s/s sink and drainer, plus loads more DIY equipment.
Can anybody suggest the best, most local to CM centre place in terms of price, availability and product choice.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks both for the helpful replies. I will PM you nearer the time Neilrob.

My mother is coming to visit Thailand and Chiang Mai between the 16th Dec and 4th Jan (2015).
She is a very keen bridge player.
Can anybody suggest regular Clubs that would welcome a short-term visitor, in or around the City centre.
Thank you.

I have looked on here now and again.
Ubonjoe's advice is always accurate and non-judgemental.
A huge asset to this forum.

Had an enquiry about any bars showing this game.
Anyone confirm a location.
Can't see it on UN Irish FB page.
Thankyou.

Did the OP get fixed up?

HHH are very active in Chiang Mai.
If there is no subsequent contact info for you on this thread, I'll PM you my friends phone number.
The pub where they meet is opposite the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel.

Were the Myanmar Immigration accepting $10 US bills?
I was there on Monday. Handed over a below average $20, and received a better condition $10 in change.

pic of an empty warrarot market yesterday afternoon
and the bottom of loi kroh road at 11 20 last night !
i spoke to four bar owners last night and they and their girls are crying in their boots about having no customers and having to close early with no money
dave2
Maybe these girls will get another job instead of doing the work of the devil.
Drinking is bad for you all bars should be closed at 8 pm and allowed to open at 7 pm i hour a day for the health of the tourists and the citizens
Why do you go to bars what are you trying to escape from?
Can Admin not just ban guys like this? (not Dave 2).

Good luck to the OP.
FWIW I did a one year at Easy Study Thai at Pantip Plaza. I thought they were pretty good all told. I don't know if they can help you but they are worth an ask.
There are some amount of sanctimonious a**holes on this forum sadly. You have to separate the wheat from the chaff. Thailands problems extend way beyond any perceived 'abuse' of the ED system. <deleted>.

Ronthai
thank you for asking this question as I'm in the same boat. Ed visa expires April and I turn 50 in July. I too was wondering what my options are.
Also thank you to the posters who replied with good sensible advice. I will re-read the thread several times till it finally sinks in!!
Thai Visa aint all bad!!
-
I go there. I can recommend them 100%, although many of the Ed Visa places seem to get good feedback.
The teachers I have are all excellent, and they are flexible about learning at you own pace.
The administration side is also very efficient - not always the way here.

Another vote for Mark Archers bar..........as good as you'll find in Chiang Mai.

How about the Chiang Mai SECOND HAND group on Facebook. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. Just serach in facebook, CHIANG MAI SECONDHAND and you'll see it.
Hmmm.... tried this but its not active. Unless I did something wrong AGAIN....
I think you may have made a mistake. There are three groups (too many, I know), but they are very active and IMO the best place to buy and sell things in CM.
The main one is SECONHAND CHIANGMAI (NO 'D'), or secondly SECONDHAND CHIANGMAI, or thirdly 'Buy, sell, swap Chiang Mai'. Essentially it's the same buyers and sellers. Note, the first two sites are in Uppercase. They are very busy sites.
As somebosy else said the Chiang Mai City Life is also good, but it dosent show photos without a link, and a picure says a thousand words.
Keep trying with the Facebook sites.

Pomchop - excellent summary IMO.
I was there for seven months recently and your observations mirror mine.
Best English-type sausage and bacon - Wholesale? Please?

Thank you Teacherofwoe.
It sounds like Chiang Mai Gourmet as suggested earlier by Bung.
Their pictures on the website look impressive and I plan to give them a go asap.
I'm assuming thats the place you are referring to.
