  1. Nothing vague here, the land was probably mortgaged to the victims in what called Fak-Khai arrangements,

whereby the title deed is transferred temporarily to the loan holds at the land department with fixed interests

and time, failing to pay the interests on the loan means a default on the loan agreement and the land become

    legally the loaning person land.....

Except, according to the details published on 'the other' site, it wasn't mortgaged to the victims under a Fak-Khai arrangement. The victims had asked to borrow the title deed for the land from Mr Nattawat’s father to place as a surety for employment with the local office of the Provincial Electricity Authority, then—taking advantage of Mr Nattawat’s father's generosity—they filed, and won, a court case to evict Mr Nattawat’s family from their land and home.

Immorally using the courts to obtain someone else's property happens all too often in Thailand, and these r-soles ripped off the wrong person. Som nom na I say.

What a shame that you chose to distort what was actually reported in the Bangkok Post.

The murdered family did ask to use the deeds but the owner (the killer's father) gave the land to them. He transferred ownership to them and the land was then theirs to do with what they liked.

This is nothing to do with morals, fraudulently obtaining someone else's property or "arse holes ripping off the wrong person"

What a shame you can't actually comprehend what was actually reported in the Bangkok Post.

Are you that dim that you think the Provincial Electricity Authority would accept a borrowed title deed as a surety for employment?? Of course he "gave" the deed to them, because they needed to "own" the land as surety for the job.

You think the father simply gifted the land to the victims and then refused to move off the land, resulting in a court case and mediation? The sad thing is, you do.

"20 rai of land that had originally been owned by his parents but had come into the hands of Khanong"

A very vague sentence. How did the land "come into" the hands of Khanong? Did Chuchit's family sell the land to Khanong and when they spent the money finished wanted the land back? I have seen just such a scenario play out a few times here. Collateral for borrowing? Many details missing here.

  3. Like in many ‘80s action films, it’s the story of a bygone master who’s laid down his weapons in seek of peaceful pursuits.

It should read, "a bygone,washed-up actor who's laid down his last remnant of pride and will seek any last grasp at notoriety".

This fat has-been is inarguably one of the biggest douches around - and the junta thinks he's a good fit for the promotion of Thailand?!

Let's, for a minute, forget the lies about that he once helped train CIA operatives and did "special favours" for them (his ex wife says, "Not at all"), or that he is of Italian descent (he's actually half-Jewish, half-Irish), or once fought the Yakuza with assistance from the American mob cheesy.gif , or that he is regularly called in to help authenticate antique swords by auction houses as he is one of the world's "foremost experts on swords" thumbsup.gif but, instead, focus on the fact that, at various points in his career, he has (allegedly) sexually harassed Jenny McCarthy, Ray Charles' granddaughter, and four office assistants on the set of Out for Justice.

In 2010, he was sued for sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and false representation about employment. A 23-year-old former model who was hired as Steven's "executive assistant" claims that, when she showed up to work for her first day, she learned that "Mr. Seagal had been keeping two young female Russian 'attendants' on staff who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, was "resolved privately" by Steven's lawyer, the Hollywood heavy hitter Marty Singer (past clients have included Bryan Singer, John Travolta, Quentin Tarantino, and, naturally, Bill Cosby) and the case dismissed.

So, yep, just the kind of guy Thailand wants promoting its culture... blink.png

  4. How can they even consider using a smart car in Thailand? For it to work it must discern other rational drivers and everyone who has driven in Thailand knows that doesn't exist and is quite the opposite. A smart car can't reach quick enough to avoid some of the crazy things Thai drivers do and more so, don't do

Don't confuse the term "Smart Drive car" with the term "Self Drive car" - from what I can gather from reading various press releases, this is pretty much a regular pick-up fitted with a tablet. As far as cutting edge technology goes, one can install various apps of iOS & Android tablets to detect when one is drowsy; your regular Ford Everest has more high-tech safety features than the pick-up this tablet is fitted to.

It's all typically laughable, really. coffee1.gif

  5. You could not make this up in a month of Sundays.

No, it appears the writers keep rehashing the same story...

02/08/2014 - Police still on lookout for Phuket drug dealer

    • "When police arrived at the house to question Mr Tirawut on July 31, he fled the scene. Police then entered the house and found Ms Warathip in the bedroom with four guns, holsters, and ammunition."
15/10/2014 - Police arrest two men part of a drug network Selling Crystal Meth in Koh Samui
    • "when he became aware of the arrival of the police, he left the meth and his pickup truck Bronze Toyota Vigo behind and escaped running to the mountain."
11/11/2015 - Notorious drug gang smashed in Bangkok
    • "Police said they are still on the lookout for Jay, the leader of the gang after he fled from the house during the raid by jumping into a canal."
12/01/2016 - Three Arrested, One Dead and Four Escape After Drug Mule Police Gunfight
    • "After the sting operation began, police were able to arrest three of the drug mules, aged 31, 52 and 60. However, the other four managed to escape during a gun fight,"
14/01/2016 - Drug Dealer's House Raided, Dealer Escapes
    • "police raided the house of Tawee Thanomrungruang ... by the time police entered his house, he had already escaped."
01/04/2016 - Police seize 313 kilos of cannabis headed for Koh Phangan
    • "but when they ordered it to stop the driver managed to swerve round a truck. He crashed into a roadside klong but managed to flee."
06/04/2016 - Police seize 1.2 tons of ganja in north Thailand but Laotian gang escape
    • "Some thirty drug members managed to escape in two boats in the confusion disappearing back from whence they came."

Seeing as how money is handed out for good police work maybe there should be a policy where money is extracted from the cops paycheck when he screws up. Just a suggestion.

It wouldn't amount to a tenth of the money they presumably make while letting the Mr bigs <ahem> "escape" each time!

  7. So he spoke regarding a remark that has never been made?? blink.png

Regarding the talks that Thailand is still in with the EU:

"The dialogue is proving difficult and there remain serious concerns about the steps taken by Thailand to fight IUU fishing activities," EU Fisheries Commissioner Karmenu Vella wrote in a statement, adding that "further action ... cannot be ruled out".

Yep, sounds like things are progressing swimmingly; this must be why the Fisheries Department director-general was just transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister and the department’s deputy director-general was promoted as the new director-general. Yep, things going well indeed. thumbsup.gif

  8. problems affecting the well-being of the public

I'll go first: the Royal Thai Police. Its structure, its harsh organisational culture, its corruption, its poor policies and operational practices, its lack of ethics are some of the biggest problems affecting the well-being of the Thai public today.

I'm sure you're right, but it'll never happen. Too many friends in high places who quite like the occasional anonymous brown paper parcel.

Even Prayuth backed off, though that may have been after negotiating the size of said brown paper parcel.

Oh, of course! Obviously, when the junta talk about problems affecting the well-being of the public they mean motor show pretties, red bowl distribution, and shirtless tourists...
