  1. Yep,

Went to Bangkapok 1 (spelling?) hospital today with my wife for her check up and we received one of the packs for our daughter who was born 10 days ago. Nice thought really as we certainly weren't eligable for one and we were both quite surprised when the doctor handed one over as we had no idea at first what it was for. :o

  2. Haven't seen "The Island" yet but wanted to on virtue of Scarlett Johansson alone.  She is adorable and yet so young.

I bought the Machinist DVD.  It reminded me very much of the movie "Memento".  It was pretty good I thought.  Christian Bale gave a dedicated performance.

I really quite enjoyed Memento TRIPxCORE. Really made you concentrate to follow it. A well thought out movie. One more reason to see Machinist :o

  3. Glad to hear you survived mate. I was a bit the same way yesterday morning myself due to the vile coke that I added to the sangsom so I can sympathize. In future I'll have to check the use by date on the bottles as I'm sure the coke must have been well past it. :o

  4. Chechoie,

Hope you fully recovered mate. On the off chance that there is another one down the road somewhere try taking 2 Centrum multi V's before you go to bed with a glass of water. It doesn't remove the hangover all together but it certainly reduces the severity the next day mate by a large degree. :o

  5. Jimmy, it's hard to explain too much of the plot of the machinist without giving away the whole story. But suffice to say it's main character (an incredibly skinny Christian Bale who lost 20kg to do the role, and it shows) is a lathe worker evidently suffering from some kind of major mental breakdown caused by some kind of traumatic recent event.  he's being pursued by a sinister character who seems to know too much about him.  fantastically atmospheric camerawork, gritty feeling to the movie.  Good dialogue and some good supporting roles, especially 'hooker with a heart' jennifer jason leigh.

Cheers for that mate. I'll add that one to the list to see as well and thanks for the link there Bendix much appreciated :D It does seem to be difficult these days to find a really good movie and I definately get a bit tired of all the hype from these hollywood blockbusters that turn out to be nothing like I thought so any info on a good one is.....well good :o

  6. Hi all,

I have been on the Jack Daniels pretty heavy over the past few days. I have decided to stop today as I need to care of a few things so I need a clear head.

Unfortunatly my nerves are shot to pieces and i got the case of severe shakes, Unfortunatly I threw all my medication (xanax, diazpam) down the toilet when I was drunk yesterday  :D (it seemed like a good idea at the time)

I am drinking coffee now but the caffeine is playing havoc with my nerves. do you guys have any ideas or advice how to combat this.  Thanks in advance

Try taking the phone off your head!

    Old Croc,

That one actually made me laugh out loud mate and my wife is looking at me like I've gone completely insane. Thanks for that

    :o:D

  7. My gf literally got caught between them, with a small squeal. I looked back to find her stuck and looking a little helpless...frequently tease her about it.

Guards will be more than happy to let your wife through the gate, Im sure.

    Very true OxfordWill,

Every time my wife and I went on the BTS the guards led her through the other gate off to the side and passed her ticket through the turnstile for her. They always seem to be on the lookout for pregnant woman or people in wheel chairs etc. A pregnant woman shouldn't have to go through the turnstile at all.

What brought up the question in the first place, was running into a (very) pregnant thai lady on the MRT. We got off at the same place, the Saladaeng/Silom MRT station. The guard was really not very nice, he wanted her to go around to the other side, put the token in the exit turnstyle and then walk back to the non-turnstyle gate next to the ticket booth/kiosk to be let through.

She seemed to think(according to her doctor) and the guard seemed to think that the problem was the detectors/beam rather than the physical squeezing of a pregnant lady between the orange turnstyle stops. I tend to agree with the first reply above that that is rubbish, but not being sure I thought I'd put it out here.

    :o

The guard could do with a good kick in the ##se. I must admit however that the guards I came across were generally more than helpfull. It just wasn't her lucky day obviously.

I thought you were referring to the gates actually closing on her Phormio not the beam/detector so I have misunderstood your original post there mate. Sorry :D

  8. TERROR ALERT IN FRANCE

Paris, July 15, 2005- AP and UPI reported that the French government

has raised its terror alert level from RUN to HIDE on their four

level danger scale.  The two higher French danger levels are

    COLLABORATE and SURRENDER.

According to informed sources, the rise was precipitated by a

suspicious fire yesterday which destroyed France's white flag

factory, effectively paralyzing its military. In light of the recent

attacks in London, it is widely anticipated that the terror alert

will be elevated to the third

    level before the weekend.

Now that's funny. I love it Alvino. Cheers :o:D
