  1. "Authorities said that the house served as a temporary shelter for animals that had been smuggled in from abroad.

The animals would wait at the house before being sent out to buyers both inside Thailand and in neighboring countries."

    -------

God they must have got bored of waiting around. Isn't it about time Samsung sorted out this problem, and developed phones for bored animals that wait?

  2. Especially worrying (if it is true) is this quote from the article:

    Quote//

Thousands of community radio channels, especially the unregistered ones, continue to broadcast inciting and hateful speech and information against political opponents, contrary to the state objectives of community building and integration. //

Exactly. Talking out of both sides of one's mouth at the same time is a Thaksin speciality.

No it's not. Dribbling is.. that's why he thinks he's so level-headed. giggle.gif

  3. The problem lies with transparency , these people cannot be believed, you are left wondering if the truth has been spoken or another pack of lies, an independent body should be formed and the truth be told , Ministers in this Administration like to change history to suit the occasion.bah.gif

An independent body should be formed?

Do you really know how many independent committees have been formed over the last 2 years?

Quite independent, but set up by PTP members of choice and connection.

    Independent body?? :o Baa Humbug!

  4. The simple matter is that 220Billion is missing, and everybody knows where it has gone.

The difficult matter is that that is a lot of money, making the powerful so much more powerful and being able to 'buy' anybody of previous credence out of the equation, when it comes to questioning.

The PTP are creaming every cravace, every mass of movement of any business, any possible threat to their own minions even - that could break the chain.

Tough times ahead of them, as one deep exposure will topple the dominoe castle they have built. I'm waiting for somebody to really expose from bottom up, but the potential for that is negligible, as that person would take the money and run. :(

  5. I can't say I'd be complaining in his position. The first thing I noticed on his desk was the TV Remote!

Inactive position? Being paid a few million for doing nothing, but turning up?

The only problem is, I'd have to have been viciously corrupt previously to get such a position, and that's just not in my nature... sad.png

  6. The first sentence says it all; "the government is planning to set up a special public relations team to communicate proactively with the public."

Thus indicating that currently the government is not communicating........ public.

And that is expected to change through this new exercise? ... That's as likely as me not having a beer today! blink.png

  7. It took me 4 attempts, and 3 rip-offs to find the right Thai wife - the honest, beautiful one. Why I was compelled to fight on, I have only three ideas! ;)

I have no qualms, even in losing 9M Bhat, at 3M a time.

Take a hot bath and first time, you get burnt.

It takes time to get the temperature right.

Seven years later into marriage #4, I can finally say life is cool!

I had my fun, and paid for it. It's about time others admitted it too, and stopped complaining of the odd 15M Baht. cheesy.gif

  8. Unfortunately this country levies hefty import taxes on ordinary cars manufactured abroad which reduces strongly available models to buyers, sadly it's called protectionism.

In Belgium I drive a Volkswagen Polo, my wife's Nissan March is crap in comparison, both cars equally expensive.

In Europe a VW Polo has 4 airbags standard, in Thailand standard Nissan March has two now, wow that's an improvement over my top Toyota Vigo who had a drivers airbag.

I agree with you about air bags when i go to the Thai motor show each year,I always make a point of asking the sales reps why is it your Toyota Mitsubishi Nissan and so on do not have the same amount of airbags as the vehicles you export O/S .

Half or more of the sales reps do not even know that the export models are far superior to those sold in Thailand and the other half of the sales reps tell me Thais will not pay for extra money for safety features.like more airbags

My questions has always been Choice and what price do you put on a life for the sake of 4 extra airbags that are not offered to the motoring public in Thailand coffee1.gif

Maybe because other countries have certain safety standards and vehicles sold in those countries must meet those standards. I guess the vehicle safety standards are not as high in Thailand.

    Important UN Vehicle Safety Regulations

Reg. 12 Steering mechanism - frontal impact (partly covered by Reg.94)

    Reg. 21 Interior fittings

    Reg. 26 External projections

Reg. 94 Occupant protection in frontal collision

Reg. 95 Occupant protection in lateral collision

As you can see, Thailand pulled out of the UN agreement 15 years ago. Even the UN basic safety standards have nothing on EuroNcap and FMVSS testing.

If you look ar Reg. 26 and GTR 9, what these mean is that all exterior radii at the front of the car are to be 6mm or more (8mm in EuroN) and there are to be no emblems that do not retract on the front of the vehicle. When you see the monstrocities driving around Thailand, and Asia in general, with homemade bullbars and strange emblems like daggers it beggars belief that safety standards are not imposed worldwide! And people wonder why road deaths are so much higher in Asia !

  9. Thai local authorities have approved the layout, and the Thai authorities of Bangkok's select committee only seconded the approval.

There is no approval at all from the FIA for formula 1 car racing on this circuit - end of.

What Thais consider safe roads does not serve one iota of reference for what the FIA Formula 1 track approval committee would.

Let's keep it simple, until further notice, as so far it's all Thai codswallop, as usual!

  10. 2,000 baht for a 85l bin?

You can buy a 100l bin from BigC for 360 Baht. Buy in bulk, at a rate of 35,000 and I bet you could get them for 300 Baht or less.

That would be a grand total of 10.5 M Baht and not 70M

    Nice graft! Incredible graft!!

Well done to the BMA, for giving such a great example of democracy. You let the side down - BADLY!!

  11. ""Our records show that more people are killed per accident when we calculate the severity index by dividing the number of deaths by the number of accidents," Assoc Prof Kunnawee Kanitpong, manager of the Thailand Accident Research Centre (TARC) at the Asian Institute of Technology, said."

Is that supposed to sound impressive, and the best the manager at AIT can come up with? My respect for that place just flew out the window.. bah.gif

Maybe they should set about recording ALL the accidents from Songkran first. Let's see the real accident statistics first. I really would like to know if the number of vehicle accidents is higher than at any other time of year.
You have no proof that they aren't counting all accidents that are reported! Is taking a negative stance going to solve the problem? Surely it's better to accept the figures and then go for a positive approach in trying to solve the main problem, the accidents not the figures!

I KNOW there is substantial proof that they do not count all accidents, be they reported or not. They being the BIB, of course. A member of my own family had a crash, and no I was not with the group travelling....... but he was over the limit, paid the other owner 12K baht, and was allowed to drive on ( after a further back hander, of course ). So do you want to accept the figures as they stand, and believe figures will never change they ways?

That's like saying the villagers really vote for Thaksin, irrelevant of the figures of bribery to vote for him. So let's accept those bribes, as figures of voters, and then deal with the accidents as a result of the main cause, shall we?

You're the expert, so advise me please.
