  1. Just picked up my Lifan cross 200 for 45,000. ...enjoying it so far! Anybody know of any good trail rides near Buriram?New-Transportation.png

Congrats on your new bike, where did you buy it?? In Buriram??

A good friend of mine who's coming to life in Buriram province by the end of the year, wants to purchase a off road bike, it will be his first bike, and after reading this thread this bike seems to be a good deal for him.

Correct me if i'm wrong but is the engine on this bike based on the old Honda XL125/XL185/XL200 ?? it looks very similair.

About trail riding around Buriram, well, just turn in at one of the many country roads and it's sometimes surprising what kind of nice roads and trials you'll discover.( don't get lost)

You know Lam Nang Rong Dam ?? ( next to the 348) about '50 km's from Nang Rong direction Cambodia ( so about 100km's from Buriram city) Around that lake you can do some nice trial riding, if you don't mind make your bike dirty.

Mayby we can hook up one time to go riding there ( I live between Buriram and Nang Rong) i drive a KLX 250.

    Have lots of LIFUN

  2. Some questions i had for a while are anwsered is this thread, ( what are those owners of imported high performance bikes which need high octane fuel put in their bikes)

I hope the rumours are not true about they will be stop selling benzine 91, sounds strange to me since there are so many vehicles around which can't run on gasohol.

What about benzine or octane boosters? is that a save option to upgrade benzine 91? i'm always a bit aprehensive about that kind of products.

  3. ******Guys, the event is on Sunday 6th May NOT the 5th.******

I went to have my bike serviced today and was talking to the guy that misinformed me previously, he was confused between Saturday and Sunday.

I asked several others and they also confirmed SUNDAY 6th meeting outside the same place at the same time and arriving at Bonanza around 8:30.

    Please excuse the google translate;

    Hello Brothers Kawasaki.

Well then it's a Kawasaki MiniGP of this year. Fierce competition with me for Kawasaki in this range.

Because of the many races that they are a single 650cc 250cc 110cc go for it. The car is small. I really satisfied.

The BRC's more, since it closed. We had to move the court to manage the competition at The Bonanza Khao Yai it.

It is a great opportunity. The rookie driver in the series. Will have to slog it out in big drops that I Ti๋gๆ course.

This information is based on me. What strikes me is that I have a train ride to me.

But the details are different. I like to have breakfast, lunch, drinking water, bitter at all, absolutely free. On the same schedule.

8:30 am Registration for the race.

    - Select Lottery Games.

    - Put the car into the inspection.

    10:00 am at the race.

    - Meeting / rules.

    - The driving / driving directions.

    - Training.

    12:00 am Lunch.

12:50 am I to do before the race.

13.00 at the start of the Kawasaki MiniGP.

    - Relay Pro - Stock (D-Tracker125).

    - MiniGP - Stock (KSR).

    - Kawasaki 650 (ER-6, Ninja650r, Versys).

    16.30 for each match won.

Count me in (as a spectator) ( on the 6th) thanks for the PM.

Will arrive somewhere in the morning ( coming from the north east) driving a KLX 250

found some pics and it looks like a nice track.

    See you guys there.

  4. Nice story and a beaut of a bike, thanks for sharing.

I have a 150sp myself and am planning to do the same as you and restore it to former glory.

How is the tyga pipe for noise?

    Posted with Thaivisa App http://apps.thaivisa.com

let me say it like this: with the Tyga exhaust you get noticed, the soundtrack is different then the stock exhaust it's not extremly loud, but when you get in the higher revs it screams!!!!

According from the guys from Tyga it's not road legal and if you want to purchase one send them a mail ( it's not on the new Thai website) One big + is that it is about 1/4 of the weight of the stock exhaust ( which weighs a ton)

To everybody else, thanks for all the compliments.

My next "project' will be tranforming my old shabby looking TZR ( technical in good shape) into a sort of retro looking cafe racer, a low budget project this time.

When it is completed i will write a report on it.

Keep the 2 strokes alive !!!

  5. I have the following question:

I still have a valid Non immigrant type O multiple entry ( married to a Thai)

date of issue: 20-12-2011 ( Savannakhet Laos)

    entry 1: 21-12-2011 from Laos

    entry 2: 15-03-2012 from Singapore

So it is stiil good for 2 more 3 months entries.

In June i will be going to Holland for visit family and friends and i thought when i'm there why not get a new visum at the Thai embassy in The Hague ( got one there before) it would save me a trip to Laos later on this year.

Is that possible? getting ( applying) a new visum while still having a valid one??

So i first use the "old" one ( 2 more entries) and then starting with the "new" one. ( between the time of issue and enter before, is one year)

Anyone did this before ?? if yes, having trouble at the airport having 2 valid visa ??

    Thanks in advance.

  6. There seems to be a lot of talking going on Thai visa on 2 strokes lateley and that's good.

@ manontheroad: on the motorcycle in thailand website at the download section you can find a complete ( australian) workshop manual, that might be of some assistance for you.

While you still working on the bike could you do me a favor and check out the colors of the wires going into the CDI ( the black connector) when you look at the attachted pic it should be clear what i mean.

@ maichai you right, indeed some parts are quite expensive.

I recently had my engine rebuild and the cylinder alone ( the proper OEM one with nikasil coating)was 9000 thb a OEM cdi 4100 thb and i can go on more.

Putting the bike back together is near completion now ( still waiting for some parts from Honda) but as i wrote before in another topic about TZM's, going all the way and the proper way with using original parts is gonna cost you. bear that in mind, when starting such a project, when dismantling a bike you always come across more things then you initialy where thinking of replacing.

manontheroad good luck with your project!!!

  7. What kind of paperwork is needed for ( in my case) a trip to Cambodia? ( to visit Angkor Wat)

During a trip to Laos ( Savanaket) where i parked my car at the border, i met an Austrian guy who took his Thai car easily into Laos, according to him, all that was needed was a passport for the car ( from the transportation office ( 55 baht) At the border pay temporary import taxes ( around 300 baht) and you're good to go.

Is it the same with motorbikes?? how about insurance?? i will have to renew mine next month any recommandations?

While i'm at it , how are the roads in Cambodia? i've read and heard there a lot of unpaved main roads, not a big problem ( i drive a KLX) but it's better to be prepared.

I will be crossing the border at Chong Chom and from there it's a 120 km drive to Siem Reap.

My traveldates are not yet set, i'm just gathering the information first.

  8. 2 years ago when I was at the Kawi dealer in Chiang Mai, they showed me a Leo Vince muffler for my DTX250. Maybe they have or can get one for the KLX. The LV was very high quality, it had 3, maybe 4, different sized tips you could put into the end to quiet it down.

I wanted a short muffler so ended up getting the Two Bros which is so loud its deafening.

Leo Vince makes amazing quality pipes, have had 2 for Ninja650

However for a 250, I think I d just get a local stainless one at 2-3k baht. To much risk with shipping/customs, and cost to much to begin with

Why...... a 250 is not worth a Leo Vince?? i think because it's ( just) a 250 the slightetst difference ( power and torque) will we be more noticeable then on a 650 bike.

Going for a locally made silencer could even mean a loss of power, i'm willing to pay a fair amount of money to a quality brand as LV.

Luckely i found a friend who is visting me next month willing to take it with him, avoiding the extra costs.

    is that smuggling???? LOL

    Leovince Dyno klx 250.pdf

    AR-3545.mp3

  9. Thank god they're talking about motorbike's I thought it was about guns until I got to post number 5! blink.png

We actually are but it's encoded ph34r.png

Out of interest what advantage would a leovince silencer have over a type you could buy in Thailand.?

Price and quality, and the fact that most of the local produced silencers don't have a lamda sonde connection.

Of course you have to pay duty . Are you trying to start a career as a smuggler?

30% on the total landed cost (250+ shipping) +7% Vat.

A large parcel like a silencer is unlikely to slip through, unless you are very lucky.

Thanks for the info, the price advantage is getting less with all those taxes (as i expected)

Mayby someone know a good deal for a good quality silencerof another brand availble in Thailand.

My Kawa dealer has got a leo vince but priced at 22K but i find it a bit overprized ( 7 of these silencers gets you a new KLX)happy.png

  10. I'm planning of ordering a leovince slip-on silencer ( model 3545) for my KLX 250 from a webshop in the Netherlands.

The price is aprox €250,- ( 10K thb) apart from the extra costs for the shipping, will i have to pay import taxes or will there be a change such a package will pass customs without checking??

I once had some lawnmower parts (cuttingblade) shipped over and they arrived without any problems ( costs)

  11. When it's for fun why don't you build something like this:

    post-143096-0-61906700-1324690604_thumb.

    or this:post-143096-0-57638900-1324690647_thumb.

Though you problaly will spent a lot more then 10K rolleyes.gif

Not so long ago i saw an add on Thaivisa from a wave 125 claiming to have the same power as a 250 bike.and a topspeed of 160 km.

I sometimes like the Thai tuning style ( is that strange?? ermm.gif ) some local guys around here spent a lot of momey on there Wave's, Nova's and Dash's and some of them look nice.

As a fun project i builded a dragbike lookalike from a old Honda Tena i got for free

i spend 5k on it and out of all of my bikes it is the most popular among the local youngsters here.

    post-143096-0-67712900-1324691707_thumb.

    post-143096-0-48152700-1324692170_thumb.

After rebuilding my NSR i'm thinking of turning an old Wave into a chopper.

    Good luck with your project.

  12. Does the 150 have the same 3-D ignition mapping as the 250? Maybe the lack of revs is the timing not the R/C valve, the jetting ( as a tin-shack mech.has already screwed with it) or more likely a clogged catastrophic converter.

Is it that the factory single ECU is not available. If the bike is in good condition and wouldn't run correctly before, isn't a 2500 baht harness and whatever the cost of a new ECU worth the money? Why screw around? If you can afford 10,000 or whatever baht for a TYGA exhaust...?

My 150R opened the valve at between 7500 and 8000. From memory it revved to 12-ish.

it's not that i don't want to buy a new wire harness, but i like to repair things if possible and a missing plug is something what can be fixed easy ( as long as i know the right order  ) A new OEM cdi is already waiting to be installed

That should do the trick thanks a lot!!!! :jap: still a bit unsure about which position is unused 3 or 5?

Now the bike is slowly coming back together and i can't wait to fire it up again.

The engine is as good as new ( crankshaft bearings/connectingrod/piston/cylinder/rc valves/ and many many small parts) and to top it off a Tyga performance exhaust system is waiting to be installed.

I really love this little bike, it's one off the few Thai build collectors bikes, with great looks and performance and... it's a 2 stroke... I love 2 stroke bikes!!!!

lol...Russian Roulette with the last wire.....good luck !

There's also a limiting circuit, most bikes of this age already have the wire cut down by the alternator where all the wires are coming out. Check to see if there are any wires cut.

I'd also replace the pulser pickup at the alternator, its cheap like 100 baht and you'll have a better spark, a lot of times these are advanced by filing off the angle of the pickup head, a lot of people screw up on this.

The choke plug also likes to get stuck on these bikes now, you'll have to take out the choke plug at the carb, and sand/file/scrape the plug and plug hole, to get all the hardened grime off. What happens is when you pull the choke cable up, it won't go back down all the way if the hole is dirty.

These two things will also prevent the bike form surpassing 10k rpm.

Yep, one wire coming from the altenator is cut.

Thanks for the other tips, everything, so also the carb is cleaned well and will be fitted with new o rings and a choke cable.

Hi db, do you mind sharing who did your engine rebuild and how much?

I like to do most of my repairs/maintenance myself but for this case i didn't have the right tools ( bearingremover) and knowledge ( never did a complete overhaul) so i choose to go for the local Honda dealer (Nang Rong, Buriram province) The mechanic ( who drives an NSR RR) who did the job knows what he is doing (or he can pretent it very well :ermm: ) I took the engine

out of the frame and dismantled it mostly, brought it to the dealer and together with the partsmanual and the mechanic we decided the work what had to be done.

The fact that the workshop has all the special honda tools/ a special workbench for engines gave me a good feeling, also they gave the right advice how to restart the engine ( bleeding the air from the new oilpump)

I had to asure them that when i'm ready with the rebuild i come by and show the bike,so they can check it runs well even they give a sort of gurantee on the work.

The costs...... well i have to tell that i'm not intent to sell this bike anymore and wanted to do the things right.

The engine rebuild costed me 26K ( new crankshaftbearings/connectingrod,piston ,cylinder( 9K) cylinderhead, oilpump, clutch and many small parts.i tolded the mechnic not to cut costs on small parts.

As i wrote before i'm now slowly putting everything back together and i also will be fitting a new radiator,CDI all cables, many small parts and the mentioned Tyga exhaust .

All together i'm looking at almost 40K sounds like a lot of money, ( and it is) but for me it's worth it ( all hobbies costs money)

Driving that litlle bike always brings a big smile on my face.

  14. Why not go to Honda and get a new plug? If your in BKK it should only take a couple of days to order if its not in stock.

If i still had my bike i'd take a pic for you.

At the local Honda dealer they tolded me that i should order a new main wire harness ( 2500 thb) there not selling the plug seperatly, apart from the missing plug there nothing wrong with it.

I'm now desperatly searching to spot an SP around here and force the owner to open his pillion seat for me :D

Here up in the country, there aren't many left, apart from some RR's.

  15. I'm in the process of putting my NSR 150SP back together after an major engine overhaul/restoration, so far so good but i need some help from other NSR SP owners to put the wires from the CDI back in the right order.

When i was dismantling the bike i came across that it had 2 cdi units, i did some research about this and found out that older NSR's ( RR types) are fitted with 2 cdi's 1 for the ignition and other for the servo ( RC valve) SP types should have only one.

The reason that my SP has 2 cdi's is problally a cheap repair, (the bike was running well with the 2 cdi's but i never could reach the redline ( max was10.000 rpm) the wires are cut/ taped together and connections are made with the 2 cdi's to the main wire harnass.

Luckely all the wires are still there,( i checked the colors in my workshopmanual) and with some soldering and the use of heat shrink i should be able to restore the "damage"

But for putting back an original OEM CDI i will need some help.

The original Honda CDI has got 2 connectors , looking at it with the connectors at the top, left side white ( ignition) right side black ( servo) both sides one 2Pconnector and one 4P connector, the white side still has got the original plug so there is no problem.

At the servo side ( black connector) the plug is gone and wires are cut to make connections with the donor CDI.

I have the following 5 wires to reconnect to the black connector( all going to the servo, one 2 P connector and one 4 P connector)

    white

    white/black

those 2 should go in the 2 p connector

    red/white

    green/blue

    light green

these 3 should go in the 4 p connector leaving one postion unused

I will need the right order starting from the top left of the black connector.

A close up picture would be great too.

Really hoping that another NSR fan could help me out.

Thanks in advance :jap: and keep those NSR's rollin'.

  16. Hi Yannic,

Mayby you should have a look at Michelin Sirac tires, i had those on my last bike in Holland ( XT600 Tenere) and they were 'made in Thailand" good tires on and also off road.

On internet i couldn't find any dealers in Thailand yet. mayby some other members know where to get Michelin tires in Thailand.

I also own an KLX 250 and when the original tires are worn i'm thinking about replacing them for dual purpose tires.( 70/30)

    So i following your quest,

The original nobby tires aren't so "horrible" ( according to Dunlop 50/50) but you just have to trust them.

Personally i would never change the wheels for D Tracker types, but i life "up in the country"with loads of unpaved roads and the KLX is just the perfect bike ( especialy in the rainseason i had lots of fun with it)

  17. My dreambike of all times is one from the past: it's the DUCATI 900 MHR ( mike hailwood replica)

It was just on the market before i turned 18. One of my friends had a Darmah 900 and he turned me into a Ducati fan

I have good memories going to look at the Dutch Ducati Club Races at the Zolder circuit in Belgium. The sound of a bunch of those 900's ducs with conti pipes gave me the goosebumps.

This was long before (early eighties) Ducati was such a polular brand as it is today.

I ended up buying a reliable Honda CB400F and that was the first of a line of Japanes bikes of different brands, but that Ducati will always stay in my memories.

    post-143096-0-80848300-1319613796_thumb.post-143096-0-20871200-1319613481_thumb.post-143096-0-95337600-1319613806_thumb.

  18. I already was expacting that i have to sell the KLX myself but just was curious about the trade in price.

I guess the margin of the dealer on selling new bikes is that not that high so it explains the low trade in value, ( among other reasons

    you mentioned)

On various add sites i found recent bikes (like ninja 250/ cbr 250's/d trackers) with pricetags of 10 to 20% devaluation.

You mentioned a price tag of between 115/135 which means 25 to 12% devaluation

    thanks for your advice.

  19. Hi to everybody,

I'm new here and in the past i,ve been reading a lot on this forum finding usefull info and stories.

Now it is time for me to step into the arena, joining in the discussions,

    To start of i need a bit of advice on the following: i fell in love with the 2012 kawasaki ER-6-N and for that reason i want to sell one of my bikes;

It is a 2011 Kawasaki KLX250 it is a great bike, but life is about making choices (and keeping budget) so when i want the ER6N some thing has to go.

(Another option i was consindering is buying a new CBR 250 on the side ( and keeping the KLX) but that also being ( just) a 250 i'm afraid it will not fill my needs for the longer bike trips i'm planning.)

So far so good i've made my decision so it was time to make my steps, i bought the KLX 250 at the Kawa dealer in Korat ( MPC bike shop) and will buy the ER6N there to.

I've send the owner an e-mail and asked about the price, when it will arrive in his shop and in which colors it will be available.also i asked him if he could give me a rough estimate about the trade in price for the KLX.

The same day he replied: ( quote)

ER-6n model 2012 will coming to my shop in December and the price is 250,000 it's come in 2 colors black and white. I also do trade in Kawasaki bike but for the used KLX is around 80,000 anyway we can talk about it later. One more thing Z1000 is coming to my shop. You may come to take a look.

I already was expacting a low trade in price ( i bought the bike with some extra's for 165K including 1st class insurance) but that low!!!!! an offer of 80K means a devaluation of 50% in 9 months. what was he thinking.mayby with some negotiation i could get a bit more but no way i'm going to trade in that bike.

So i will have to sell the bike myself and for that i looking for some advice; what would be realistic pricetag for an 2011 KLX250 ( white) 2250 km's and as good as new????i have been looking at the adds section of Thaivisa but there aren't many KLX around.

Also i'm curious about other members experiences with trading in bikes. I know Thais don't like 2nd hand vehicles but at a Kawasaki dealer you should get a bit more.

    thanks in advance;

    Dutchbike.
