"We had close on an hour of heavyish rain in Pattaya..."

You're in the totally wrong forum, pal.

It rained for 40 minutes where I live last night, in Chiang Mai.

Also in CM. Yes about 30 minutes of rain then nothing. Reminded me of West Africa. In the beginning f the hot season, no rain. Then one day you will get 1 hour of rain and no more. They call it mango rain, it starts the trees to ripen the fruit.

I went normal (not panic buying) grocery shopping yesterday, Macro, tops and big C, happy to report that the shelves are full and there is no sign of large crowds or panic buying etc. If anything the number of people out and about doing shopping is probably less than usual.

The photo of Macro above is how Macro always looks, its a bulk food warehouse where people buy in bulk, if anything there are less queues than usual.

A seriously irresponsible report that will only serve to create a panic buying situation where none exists at the moment.

However the Super Highway Makro in CM this morning was chaos. We were parked just next to the highway, no car spaces. I thought looking at the panic buying they must be giving food away. Meh. Most had stacks of bottled water, tissues, and toilet paper; now you cant tell me they are all shop keepers buying stock! We felt as being odd, as we actually had food in our trolley, but not your 24 tins of this, that and other stuff. I think I may have taken the gold medal also as the only person without a mask on , so bizarre all wearing paper masks which they probably have worn for days now.

  3. Lagging as usual way behind the rest of the globe.

Anyone arriving in Australia from overseas will to be forced to self-isolate for 14 days, the Prime Minister has announced.

Scott Morrison says the new measure will be in place from midnight (AEDT) as the Federal Government deals with the coronavirus outbreak.

Mr Morrison says international cruise ships will also be banned from docking in Australia for 30 days.

  4. Contradiction as usual. One minute all is sound then we will ban short selling which is a government tool when in recession. SET fell 11% on one day last week, recovered only 1.6% which they classify as a rebound. So happy they dont manage my assets.

“The Thai stock market still has good fundamentals, so we have to create confidence and set appropriate rules and tools to look after the index.”

He said that he had instructed SET President Pakorn Peetathawatchai to discuss with the SEC rules to prohibit short sales in stocks.

  5. One of the main faults with Thai electrical stuff is no EARTH wire is fitted. Last few years they have been pushed to include it. So you may have the switch off but there is a hidden ghost circuit feeding that light. Go for safety find the circuit breaker and turn it off, then test the light with one of those screwdrivers with a small bulb in the handle make sure its dead no light comes on. Have fun with the circuit breaker board as most electrical workers are too lazy to write what the circuit breaker controls. Each time I do some different electrical work I add more details in the circuit breaker box.
