  1. TRD also has a RD Smart Tax app for filing taxes. It used to have an English language option, but the current version is Thai only.
  2. For tax refunds, the TRD will only pay to PromptPay accounts linked to a Thai ID card number, not a phone number.
  3. Last year I submitted the e-filing on 29 March and received the refund cheque in the mail on 11 April. The PromptPay option is only for Thais.
  4. Includes all goods and services subject to VAT, e.g. food, restaurants, car repairs, electronics, books. Excludes: alcohol, tobacco, fuel, utilities, accommodation, tours. Shop must be registered to issue an e-Tax Invoice (for companies) or e-Receipt (for individuals). Examples of shops that are registered: 7eleven, Big C. Purchases must be made between 15 Jan – 28 Feb 2025. Maximum deduction of 50k (maximum 20k from OTOP products and 30k from others). Take your normal receipt to the shop's service counter along with your TIN and they will issue you an e-Receipt by email. Keep the e-Receipts and submit them with your 2025 tax return. https://www.thaigov.go.th/news/contents/details/91766
  5. I have been doing my own tax online through the RD's e-filing for several years now. There is no English version of the website, but you can find English versions of the tax forms (PND90, PND91, etc) which correspond to the website. You sign up for an account, add your TIN, enter all your tax numbers, upload any receipts, then wait for the RD to process it and transfer your refund by PromptPay or mail out a cheque. You can log back into your account to check the progress of your filing anytime, and you can download a copy of the completed tax form to use as a reference for filing the next year.
  6. Back in 2023 I signed up for ShopeePay because there were some promotions available if you paid by ShopeePay. I Definitely had to use my passport to get the account approved and later had to do a face scan. Anyway, got a notification last month saying they are closing ShopeePay accounts for foreigners. Probably too much hassle for Shopee to complying with Bank of Thailand and Revenue Department reporting requirements for foreigners.
  7. I normally file my tax myself through the Revenue Department's E-FILING webpage. However, this year, I noticed there is a form for reporting foreign income. Has this always been there or is it part of the new requirement? The description seems to indicate it is for foreigners, not Thai citizens.
  8. Could someone explain what "Sight Bills" are and why the "Sight Bill Buying Rates" are higher than the "Bank Notes Buying Rates"?
  9. It looks like 15 December is D-day. See if you can received money after that. paypal.com/th/webapps/mpp/thailand-relaunch-faq
  10. You can enter any 13-digit number as your Thai ID number, but the problem will come later when you have to verify that number at the bank before 30 November 2022.
  11. Just received an email from PayPal saying that Thai personal PayPal accounts will be transferred to PayPal Thailand in October 2022. But in order to do so, you must be enrolled in the National Digital ID (NDID) platform for which you need a Thai ID card. So it looks like foreigners will have to give up their Thailand-registered PayPal accounts.
