I swapped internet cables between a mac and a PC. Mac still showing 1gbps, but now PC is up to 100mbps. So that's an improvement. Must be the cables. Strange that the Mac doesn't care which cable.

Maybe try removing the Ethernet port in "control panel" then search for new hardware and let it reinstall the drivers.
I give that a try.
Did that and still the same slow speed.

I'd be interested to know how you get 1gb on a 100mb connection ?
Yes, but I should be able to get 1gb over the local network.

I have 4 computers on the network. 2 PCs both showing only 10mbps and 2 macs both showing 1gbps. The PCs have different specs, but both have gigabit ethernet.

I have TOT 100/50 fiber internet and my router, switch and computers are gigabit speed and I'm using cat5e LAN cables. However, my PC connection speeds are only 10mbps instead of 1000. Macs on the same network are getting 1000mbps.

Director / major shareholder cannot use the social security scheme and must privately insure. I'm not sure what percentage ownership is the limit though.
Thanks for confirming that.

If my wife is majority shareholder of Thai company and also gets salary as director of the company, can she use Thai government social security or must she organize her own health insurance, retirement, etc.?
If I am majority shareholder and also receive salary as manager, can I join social security, or is it same story?
Can anyone give info about this before I contact social security office?

Yes you could use it since the only difference is that you had some income from other sources than working.
Noted. Thanks

I do my extension based on marriage to a Thai and income from a salary. Normally I submit a PND 91 form showing my income and tax. But this year I got a PND 90 instead. Will this cause a problem at Immigration when I go to do my extension?
-
1. register a business
2. obtain an operating license
3. notify immigration of foreign guests
4. pay income tax
what type of operating license is required and what government office does one contact for that?
can immigration be notified by phone/email, or do you have to go in person?

i know that renting out a condo for less than 30 days is problematic because of the hotel act, condo act and condo rules. what about renting out a house, a townhouse or a room (not in a condo) on airbnb? is this perfectly legal for thai owners? assuming that the landlord is paying income tax and withholding tax on the rental income.

i have had a new website designed by a thai company and they are hosting the site on their server, including the mail server. can i setup and use a different mail server without contacting the site host or do i need to ask the site host to change the A record and MX record for me? i have full access to the domain through the domain name registrar.

Found a firmware update for my modem that added no-ip to the ddns list. So no need for the dns update device now.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

a client is no use because there is no pc on the network to install it on. only the cctv dvr.

Sounds like your CCTV has a DDNS update client built in. There's no other reason it would have a place to configure dyndns.org.
It does have settings for ddns but only 3 options:
- 3322 (what's that?)
- dyndns (not free anymore)
- fujiko (for use with fujiko dns updater client software)

No hardware necessary. Use a software client like ddclient to update your DDNS service provider. There are many others. Search on "DDNS updater." Some routers have the capability builtin.
now-ip.com had good free DDNS service.
There's no computer on the network, only the cctv, so software is no use.
The router is a very basic one from 3B, so maybe getting a new router with built in ddns updater is the way to go. Thanks for that idea.

Maybe use a free one?
http://www.noip.com/freeThanks, but my CCTV is an older one and in the settings only lists dyndns.org (not free anymore) with no option to add your own.

I want to access my CCTV remotely from the internet but I don't want to keep paying for dynamic dns website subscription.
There is some hardware that you can add to your network that will update the dns but I've only managed to find one in Thailand. This one: nakramicrotek dot co dot th
I want to shop around and look on ebay, but I'm not sure what these devices are called exactly. The one above is called an IP checker. But when I search for that I find nothing.
What are these devices called exactly?

Land department surveyors came and said that the property had been surveyed since the original title deed was issued. They showed me their map that had numbers corresponding to the actual boundary markers in place.
Why are my PCs getting 10mbps network speed instead of 1gbps?

Just out of curiosity, is anybody getting a connection speed of 1gbps on your PC?
