  1. How big is your house ? How many people will shower/use water at the same time ?

I have a large house and 3 bathrooms which may be used at the same time, as well as,

my maid may be washing dishes and the washing machine might be running ....

So I chose a 1.5 HP Groundfoss Pump and a 200 liter pressure tank. I tried smaller ones

but that just causes the pump to oscillate between on and off. If it's just you and your spouse

sharing one bathroom, you may be better off with one of the compact units from your local

hardware store - motor, pressure tank, all integrated in one unit ...

I too have a well, from which I fill two huge water tanks. Since you have a well, your water

will most likely have high iron content. stay away from the "stainless steel" filters, the

stainless steel you get in thailand is 100% crap. My first two storage tanks (above

ground) where stainless steel and rusted through within 6 months. The Thais would not

honer the 1 year warranty .... The stainless steel filter, rusted through after a year ...

Now I use plastic storage tanks and a fiberglass filter. Make sure the filter can process

the amount of water you will consume without having it to clean every week or months.

Mine is large enough that I have to deal with it only once every 3-6 months ...

In the kitchen we have a dedicated drinking water filter ....

    Good Luck,

    luudee

    Luudee,

Are your plastic storage tanks above ground?

Could you explain a bit more on the fiberglass filter that you use? I am not familiar with those but may be the way to go for me.

My house will have 3 baths, but with just me and the wife and the maid, i wouldn't think that there would be more than 2 showers going at a time other than once in a great while.

I was hoping to get by with a all in one sytem including pressure tank, but on your suggestion i will look into a bigger pressure tank as I definitely don't want to deal with the oscillatng situation.

The initial plan was to bury a plastic tank but I have recieved alot of commments sugeesting not to do that for cleaning issues, leaks etc.

What's your take on the underground tanks?

  2. I am hoping to get some advice on how to plumb my water system for the best results.

Basically the community we are building in has well water, which talking to the neighbors is not to clean and not very reliable.

So what my idea is right now is to have an 1800 Liter underground tank which is filled purely by the pressure from the main water line of the community.

I would like to be able to filter this water before it goes into the tank and then have a pump to feed the house solely from the tank.

The filter system doesn't necessarily have to produce drinking quality water, just filter for debris and high mineral content etc.

My main questions are what do I need to install, such as a pressure tank etc., that will give me steady water pressure so I don't see the constant fluctuation of pressure and the pump kicks on and off at the tap.

Also what pumps are the best and worst to use?

What exactly is a pressure tank and how big does it need to be?

Does this make sense to filter the water before it goes into the storage tank or would it be better to filter it as it comes out, I am thinking that I wouldn't be able to get the volume needed if I am pulling it through a filter between the tank and the house?

What filter systems are recommended? I see a lot of systems for sale around the area....which are recommended and also which to stay away from?

I appreciate your comments and advice.

  3. This was in the states but I have nothing but respect for bose after using my set for about 5 years I went to their site online and paid about $30 for new ear cushions, a few years later when they started to malfunction they replaced them at a repair site for$100. They may be over priced but I swear by them for frequent flying and customer service is outstanding

  4. I have heard serveral good things about Bamboo flooring. Does anyone have this this in your house or have any opinions or experience with Bamboo flooring? I have heard that is it very hard and durable but haven't seen it for myself.

Also is there a dealer or manufacture in the Pattaya/Rayong area? The wife just called a place in BKK and got a price or 1450 Baht per SQM so if that is the case that seems super expensive.

  5. I found out they have a working show model at Boonthavorn in Bangna, so went to check it out today.

The pressure from the water and air jets seems very good, and really gets churning, similar to any of the 100K range models. The motor sounds normal and motor/pipes/frame on the underside all look sturdy. It's on special at the moment from 52K to 42K for the air+water jet version, so I ordered mine, probably won't be 3 or 4 months until I actually get it installed though.

It does seem to be one of those "too good to be true" deals though, but I guess I'll find out the hard way.

    Dave,

You are my hero! is that the same model i posted earlier? I might have to make a trip and see it for my self or I could just take your word for it. The main thing i was worried about that it wouldn't have good enough pressure for the jets, it does seems like too good of a deal though so I guess i will be there with you and we can both start a new thread in 5 months about what not to buy?......

Guys don't worry, i bought the exact same one a couple of years ago and can tell you it works really well,

    with good high pressure!

The motor inside is made in Austria and has 4.5hp if i remember correctly, there is also a 2 stage power switch

operating it on the function switch panel together with additional whirlpool and airpool switches and 2 LED lights that change colour.

Also an RCB safety cut out incorporated in the system together with a built in inline heater to keep the water temp up

    during prolonged use.

You will need to buy taps and shower head set as an additional extra and have the holes drilled out buy the installation

engineer, make sure you buy a 4 piece set not a 5 piece as there isn't enough room to fit 5 pieces. I bought a

Cotto 4 piece set for mine about 15000bt, the diverter is built in to the faucet spout turning it 90 degrees allows the water

to flow out to the shower head.

I have an 8kw multi point instant water heater that supplies my one with no problem when filling it up mixing with the cold

otherwise the water temp is too hot, not forgetting that the water continues to heat as your running the motor.

Haco Group are the suppliers of this product here's their website: http://www.haco.co.th/about/index.asp

    Thanks for the info Sotsira,

but I was a bit confused on the part where you said you had to buy the taps and shower head seperate. I guess I assumed that all that i would need would come with the tub.

@DAVE, Did you have to purchase extras with your when you bought it?

  7. Note that "Haco" is the distributor of Labelle in Thailand, contact info: http://www.haco.co.t...ntact/index.asp

They called us back and said there is no working show model anywhere in Thailand...hmm...worrying

When were you planning on buying yours @tuffy? Wouldn't mind being the guinea pig and buying it first would you ? smile.png

I might look around a lilttle more but I think next weeks some time, but sorry to say I won't have it installed and running for several months...

  8. I'm looking at the exact same model for our house. My wife contacted the company (La belle) and they are getting back to us as to where they have a real (working) show model.

I'll post back here if I'm able to find a real working model as to how good it is.

The price makes me a bit nervous at 35,000K, because it's way cheaper than anything else similar (most range from 60K-100K); I'd hate to get it all installed and find out the motor is absolute rubbish or something.

The one thing I am worried about is that the sales girl was telling us it is poor quality and made in china....of course she was commisioned by Christina brand so I have learned to be wary of helpful sales people trying to hawk their own brand. Also She said that it did not have the same type jets and not really a jaccuzi but more like just tap water pressure. When I asked what the motor was for then i got a famous blank look. Dave I would be VERY interested in hearing more about the working model. Could you PM me with the companies contact info please?

  9. Not about the brand, but you better put in a very large water heater with Tank (15,000B or more) and expect a huge electric bill every month. Friend put one in a large tub and tried using a 6KW on demand water heater....didn't even come close to working correctly. Water barely got luke warm. Just a thought.

Thanks for that info. I had been wondering about the heater situation

  10. So we have finally decided to build on some land we bought a few years ago.

We found a builder who seems to fit the bill. Started out by asking about a house we like the look of, then asking around it sounds like this guy has a pretty good reputation.

So the charge is 12000 b/sq meter and about 5000 for the patio and parking area, so I am happy with those prices. Of course that does not include any fixtures inthe kitchen or bathroom.

What I am surprised at is his cost to build the wall around the property. for 1 1/2 meter high wall it is 4000 B/meter. And this is just for your average brick wall but I am told it will be built correctly with post that are set into the ground. From reading through the posts on this forum I am seeing anything from 800 per to 2200 per sq meter.

What is the going rpice for a properly build brick wall in the Pattaya/ Sattahip area?

Also what would a modest cement board slat fence cost?

  11. Naam: Could you describe your whole house fan system? I like the sounds of it.

there is not much to describe. the biggest problem to overcome is where to place the fan. i have a single story home and didn't want the fan to exhaust into the attic (too much resistance) because of huge airflow. so i placed it in a side wall but at an angle to minimise the vertical opening. fan is belt-driven and has a diameter of ~90cm (36").

    AIRFLOW.JPG

Thanks for the info, I am getting ready to build a house and would like to incorporate this into it. I still like the idea of going into the attic to cool that down as well but I will have to look into it more.

  12. Pauljones: If you don't mind, did you do the installation of that fan? Where did you get the fan?

Naam: you kinda did something similar, right? A "whole house" fan that you turn on in the am to draw the cool air inside.

I had a guy come out to give me a quote. He said my roof wouldn't support the whirlybird. I have a steel beam installation. Oh well....

i have a whole-house fan, an attic fan and a few ceiling exhaust fans Craig. each of the tree types has a different function.

-the whole-house fan is used in the very early morning hours to replace all inside air with fresh air within a few minutes. during the cool season (outside temp <25ºC) this fan is run for several hours (~04.00 till sunrise) not only for cool fresh air but to cool down inside walls and floors.

-there is the attic fan which has only one function, namely to get rid of heat in the attic.

-and i have, beside the exhaust fans in the bathrooms ceiling exhausts fans (low wattage ~30w) which run day and night in three rooms because these are the rooms in which the ruthless, good-for-nothing not health-minded husband of my wife smokes Marlboros and Habanas sick.gif

  13. At Rayong Green Valley/St. Andrews there is a shop just behind the main clubhouse which sells food, drink, does club repair, video golf and the man running it does lessons as well as has been a golf instructor for many years in US and UK. Although part of the GV/SA facility it is privately owned/managed but uses the GV/SA kitchens for the food preparation. A nice shop with friendly people and worth checking out. I did not use his instruction but he mentioned doing lessons in the shop, outside and also playing lessons. Sorry do not have their name or phone number. Nice courses by the way so you can play and/or take lessons while there.

Thanks for the info Qman, i will give him a try

  14. My wife buys a product to clean out the drain and which also takes away the smell. It is called soda flake (basically caustic soda flake). It can be quite dangerous and cause burns to the skin so use caution. When our drains are stinky she uses this and it works very well. She says it is available in most Thai hardware stores.
