yes pool supply shop. IMO the shop on Suthep Union Science? i think it is called, is much better with a much better stock.
-
the only things we buy at Index are pillows, bedding, things like that. the quality seems good and prices when on sale are good. everything else - except maybe some of the appliances are Chinese junk. staff are useless.
-
indeed there is inflation but not 30-40% in less than 6 months. prices are going up like everywhere in the world.
yes fruit has gone way up. prices at Muang Mai Market are silly. i think they've raised the price so much because almost every time i pass by there is either a tour bus or a procession of tuk tuks bringing Chinese tourists to Muang Mai for the sole purpose of buying fruit. we never buy fruit there anymore, or at Rimping, Big C, etc. instead whoever in our house is out in a small village will buy fruit from some granny out in front of her house, and bring that home. saves a LOT of money.
i haven't noticed a jump in utilities too much. our water bill has been 400-800 per month for 9 years or so. i have noticed a little bump in the cost of electricity starting in April. what has gone up considerably - almost double over the last few years is the cost of healthcare including insurance. i have not noticed anything more than a 10% increase in the cost of pharmaceuticals, however.
butter? you can buy a huge block of butter 500 grams? (not sure) at YOK for 72 Baht and a lower grade for 60 Baht. both taste like crap - to be perfectly honest. we buy imported butter at Rimping but don't use a terrible lot of it.
some things have not gone up much, while some things have gone up a lot.
as far as comparing costs here vs. overseas......we found Japan and Korea to be frighteningly expensive compared to here, but on a recent trip to the USA we found costs in the USA to be much cheaper than here.

Thais LOVE Sizzler, that's for sure. every Sizzler i have ever been to Thailand is packed with Thais from all walks of life including many, many students.
Sizzler in Thailand is a completely different company than that in the USA. as i recall the USA company went bankrupt after they were sued for millions and millions of USD as a result of people getting very sick and some even dying from E. coli which they traced to workers or one worker in particular, handling tainted meat and then touching fresh vegetables w/o washing their hands.

My GF sold her 1st car private. The buyer called her a dozen of times because that was not ok, this was broken, the clutch made a strange sound and and and...
She sold her second car to a dealer who never called her (although she "forgot" to tell him that the brakes were to be renewed).
If you want to avoid any problem, sell it to a dealer. They are professionals and if there is something wrong with your car they should see it before they buy.
LOL, they will give you close to nothing. internet is the best way to sell, as well as putting signs on the car with contact info whenever you park it.

that's too bad. we would go there often. been going there for 10 years - possibly longer that i can think of. we always found the salad bar and the cooked food to be much better in their offerings than that of the other branches here. seems odd how they differ from branch to branch. airport is O.K. but KSK was better. the branch in Lee Gardens Plaza, Hat Yai being one of the best. we don't like Festival branch at all. in fact there are no restaurants i like at Festival except the basement floor mini food court.
strange since they always did a brisk trade.
unlike the others....i've never ordered steak at Sizzler (or anywhere in Thailand for that matter) - ever, over 30+ years so i have no idea of the quality of steaks. chicken was fine.

Just bought a top loading Samsung, no black bits yet, but now I know how to fix it when it happens.
ours didn't start doing it until it was about 4 years old.
i wonder what it is? it seems everyone with a top loading Samsung who chimed in on the discussion has the problem.
at first we thought it was from a garment, elastic disintegrating or something. then it started to happen with a load of white t-shirts. that ruled out that theory. weird.

Last I checked, iHerb can't ship to Thailand.
GNC will probably have it but you'll pay through the nose.
Try Lazada.
They ship but with ems only. The others are a customs nightmare. Takes about 2 weeks.
no EMS with iherb.com. no customs issues at all. no tax. easy....

If you had a clear hose connecting the water feed pipe to the washer you would see what it is...
It collects inside the hose like a sort of moss
After some point of build up ....When you fill the washer chunks break free & go into wash
You can remove the fill line & blast it clean or change it & your problem will be gone....for awhile anyway
I checked the supply line & screen - clear.....Ran water through the line full bore & nothing but water came out....Unless it's microscopic and collects/grows in the wet sump....
our supply line/screen are clear too. it comes from within the machine. not every time. in fact sometimes not for 2 weeks. then it comes back for a few loads. been going on for a year or more.

I was offered their "Health Insurance" last week if I opened an account ( only need passport mister no work permit) when I read the small print it was accident insurance, 2700 baht per year for 50,000 baht cover, same policy with my broker 1000 baht!
you were offered accident insurance. not health insurance.

we also buy glass jars at YOK. we pickle jalapenos, etc. prices not too bad.

Thanks. I have never bought stuff like this online but will give it a try. Found this link as well http://biohacked.net/buying-supplements-in-thailand-3-low-cost-options-and-getting-supplements-you-cant-find/

fly! it costs the same or even less than a bus. there in one hour. no brainer....
-
yes that is the best place, you can call them and find out what time of day is the best rate of exchange for the currency you want to exchange (based on live currency trading on open markets). bring your original passport with you - not a photocopy.

Mexican burritos usually do not have rice, in my experience (in Mexico) usally a semi-dry beef is used.
burrito de machaca is a delicious snack.

there are some condominiums next to Power Buy. they did look O.K. but now they are completely obstructed by the construction by a row of shop fronts, which will eventually give the condo dwellers a lovely view of garbage cans, junk stacked up all over, delivery trucks, and rats scurrying around to get to the trash. pretty much worthless real estate at this point. i have no idea if foreigners are allowed to purchase them or not - but who would want to?

looks to me to be food prepared by what the Mexicans call "gringos" - white people. as far as the olives are concerned, Mexicans do use some olives in their cooking. there is one very popular dish served in good restaurants in Mexico City that incorporates olives. i can't think of the name right now. but the cheese in the photos is yellow cheddar? cheese. Mexicans do not use cheddar cheese..... hard sells????? no.....
i'll stick with Miguels. owned by a gringo (Canadian) but the closest to real Mexican food here. i saw a large debate on FB about a month ago or so about the subject and the Mexican people in the group who live here in C.M. all agreed - Miguels or nothing. since there are a number of Mexicans living in C.M. i don't understand why someone doesn't open a little place. i would imagine they would do quite well....
i have thought of trying the place on Canal Road, but over the years i have stopped in front of the place about six times (no joke) and never once seen a customer in there - not once, not a single customer. so i always kept on driving as it seemed like a bad sign.

A Thai friend that got a dairy farm here in CM told me that Thailand is missing 30% of its milk needs, therefor their will blend in whatever is missing in the form of powdered milk.
Milk is paid too the farmer in Kg(everywhere) because the more fat there is the heavier the milk is, more money is paid.
this sounds accurate to me from my experience.

I think it's standard practice at CM Ram hospital to "escort" patients to the cashier, as if they expect them to bolt without paying. Bangkok Hospital seems to be a little more trusting of their regular patients.
they do that at almost all hospitals in Thailand - and for good reason. i would imagine that the number of the people who do attempt to bolt each day without paying their medical bills in the Kingdom is enough to have to implement this procedure.
you have people stealing 5 kg. of bacon and 3-4 packs of blue cheese from Big C, others telling Immigration Officers to "F.... off!", i mean Thailand does not exactly get the cream of the crop foreign visitors. but the practice of escorting people to the cashier applies to Thais as well.
Bangkok Hospital may not do it, but it's only because they have a more robust communication system to alert more security personnel if someone tries to bolt. they couldn't get too far too quick on the Super Highway. in the city they could vanish in seconds. they have it all figured out; i'm sure.

all P.O.'s in the Kingdom open until 12:00 Saturday.
another one bites the dust, no more Sizzler @ KSK ?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
i don't think KSK is going anywhere soon. they did a cost analysis a few years ago on what it would cost to demolish it. the cost was astronomical. instead the plan was to refurbish it. at one time the cost analysis was posted on-line.
