  1. Hi, good day to everyone.

There is a small parking area right infront of the mukdahan border immigration office where there is nearby building for the Thais who will submit their Thai ID card to enter LAOS. May i know can we park our car there overnight? I heard they have ban car parking there overnight.

And can Thais still enter LAOS using ID card only? Usually i know thais who using ID card to enter LAOS have to wait for office open 8am and get the approved documents. Is the rountine still the same?

Lastly, is the Thai consulate regualtion still the same? Submit visa application in morning, collect afternoon on next day? How about the document for application?

    Thank you. :)

if your friend home is 30 minutes from Poi Pet so why not use another border to do the trip, O'Smarch or Ban Laem might be possible.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will check the location. Why we choose the Aran border, there is a big market. My wife and friends want to shop around there. We are going from Bangkok toward Aranyaprathet. Not sure along the way, where are they visiting as well. Anyway, I will give a miss. I will just wait for them for few hours. And we will meet in Thailand then.

Believe it or not, there is a real Cambodian law that you must stay overnight when entering by land (except if you have a multiple entry business visa). A small fee to Cambodian immigration for them to waive enforcement is common.

Probably there is a law existing. If so, I believe the officer will insisted us to pay the fine even my friend rebuked them back. On that day, it is a very busy day. The whole room is packed. Many of the tourists are backpack style wearing sabai sabai. I believe many of them are border hopper. But I see no one paying the "fine". Maybe we are the only group who travel in/out on the same day. LOL~

I wish I could say an overnight stay would guarantee all will be OK. If you tell Thai immigration you are going on a quick overnight trip to Battambang, wanting to see it while in the area, they might still see this as a border hop (a crime according to the powers that be in Aran).

I am thinking maybe I should just miss my friend's house opening. I don't like reasoning with the officer, may ends up in a nasty quarrel.

Even the previous trip i visited my friend in Poipet. The Cambodian immigration charge me and few Thai friends (i think 50 or 100baht) while going back from Cambodia to Thailand. Other farang tourists need not pay this fee. The officer explained that we did not stay overnight hence need to pay the fee which we never heard before such regulation. Probably they thought we are going to Casino. I don't know. My Cambodian friend did the talking with the immigration guy. Sometimes we need a loud lady 555, our "fine" are voided then.

Since then, I told myself never coming here again unless really needed.

It is hard to say for sure what will happen at Poipet. If you have not been there for a year, you may have a similar experience to last time, especially if you feign no knowledge of any letter last time. However, you should be prepared for a possible rejection of a border hop with no stay in Cambodia.

If I stay overnight, will it be ok? I don't wish to stuck at the immigration while my group of friends waiting for me.

  6. Would like to seek advice from the specialists here.

I am holding non-imm O visa (marriage). I know the immigration does not allow Non-imm O visa to extend their 90days at the Aranyaprathet border. I went to Poipet once about a year ago to visit my friend (cambodian) and her house is only less than 30mins driving from the border. It was a 1 day trip. As i came back to Thailand on same day, the officer may have impression that I am doing border run for my non-imm O visa. While passing through Thai immigration. I was been invited for a talk and signed a document for acknowledgement. This time, my friend has got her house renovated done. Invited us for house opening. I will be going to poipet again for a day trip (as there's nothing else interesting for me to stay overnight). Mine is a genuine case. Will I have problem again at the immigration border? My passport previous 90 days stamps gotten through airports.

Any good advice to ensure a smooth trip?

  7. I am confused. 150 baht pricing is for foreigners, 80baht is for Thais. From the picture provided, the food menu is written 80baht. So when foreign customers order the food via browsing their shop menu, they will look at the pricing at 80baht isn't it? How does the shop do the explanation to the foreign customers when the bill does not tally up While their own menu pricing already stated 80baht?

So that means any other vendor in Thailand can just put a pricing for example 40baht. After the customer make the ordering, the vendor will tell them the price is 100baht?

People understand the shop want to make earning but dual pricing only create unhappiness when the above incident happens. It affect the locals and the rest of people.

How does the shop recognize this customer is Thai or foreigner? Just look at this incident and you see the  uneccessary unhappiness.

Some Thais have very good foreign friends or oversea external family relatives. They have family gathering. When time for the bill, how does the vendor do the calculation? They will visualize the customers. 2 farangs, 3 chinese, 6 Thais and bill accordingly?

Wouldn't it better to have a standard price list given? Comes to billing, You happy I happy, All happy.

    Happy ending.

  8. Got a Non-Imm O marriage visa from Savannakhet Laos.

The visa expiring in February 2018.

The 90 days due date stamp inside passport is in January 2018.

Would like to ask must we go to Savannakhet Laos to renew our Non-imm O marriage visa in January 2018

OR can we fly out in January and received another new 90 days stamp? Will the immigration officer granted us another 90 days although the visa expire in February? Or will the immigration just give us remaining days till February?

Lastly, is procedure in Savannakhet Laos still the same?

    Thank you

Parking at Don Muaeng is usually a bitch. I hope you have a small car....

There is the usual double parking that you see at Thai shopping malls.I prefer parking above ground in the small multi-stores some 2/300 metres after domestic departures.

I would recommend that you speak with one the attendants to explain that you are only parking for 15 hours.

    OK.  Thank you

No, just take the ticket - leave it at the dash & use it for the pay booth on the way out....

Pre-registration (like the private lots in the west) would be difficult for them to monitor....

Thank you for the quick reply.

You mentioned leave the ticket on the dash. Does we need to place at there compulsory? What is the purpose of leaving the ticket there? The slip that we receive after pressing the button at entering gantry?

  13. Can anyone provide me an answer?

I will be leaving my vehicle at the don muang airport car park around 15 hours. I was told that 15 hours will be the same as one whole day fee = 250 baht. Is the 250 baht flat fee automatically or do I need to preregister any procedure beforehand? Or all I have to do is when I drive out the exit gantry. It will capture my 15 hours parking and it will automatically charge me flat 250 baht?

Me first time parking in don muang.

    Thank you

  14. Lately I went to Singapore and when I check in coming back to Thailand. There is a x-ray machine at the first check Point scanning my hand luggage. Two items over 100ml. 120ml and 150ml.  The staff politely explained to me and suggested me to get additional bottles to split my lotion so that I can get all my items pass through the check points. There is a shop selling those travel sized empty bottles in the airport if I not wrong. I know the regulation and I slipped off my mind. My mistake, I just told her to throw away the items as I could buy again at anywhere else.

Whenever going abroad, I will also always remind my wife triple check belonging so that her perfume/favourite beauty stuff doesn't get thrown.

We can be very frustrated with the staff but end of day, who should we blame? Look at ourselves first.

The news stating the man is a lawyer. He should know very well about laws (rules and regulations) and why laws are needed for.

It's going to be a disaster when all Thais coming out to say Thai have no Thai heart when get caught breaking the laws.

No....the emergency stop mechanism will only function if the train is at least 130 metres from the platform. That was confirmed by the company in the article in today's BP

Even so, what good will an emergency button do ? The train needs 100 meters to stop and she was 50 meters away.

If the current emergency equipment doesn't help, the authorities perhaps need to enhance the emergency system. What can the engineers add to prevent the train from entering the station.

  16.
"She said that both her and the relative who was driving got out to state that they had insurance and would take care of everything.

    Then they left."

    A pair of @s*****.
It's not a minor kiss the bum accident that you can just get out of your car and said you had insurance and will take care of everything.

That vehicle flipped. Have they thought is anyone dying inside that car? Well, they probably thought so. They have insurance and will take care of everything (even the about die personnel).
