  1. There are always 2 sides to a story, and then in the middle there is the truth. Unless any of was there, we will never no what happened. Of course some members of the Thai Visa Forum can't let a Thai bashing opportunity go to waste. Which makes me question , if life here sucks so bad, why do they even live here ? Why not go back to the UK or Europe where live is perfect.

Currently being anywhere else would be hideous. I can't understand why people talk about leaving...I believe they would only take their misery with them

Correct,  they could live anywhere and have everything and still would be in misery. Seems they are misfits, you see them everyday at the local expat bars, looking like they have not had a bowel movement in 2 weeks, or on here bashing everything  about Thailand.

  3. The written test before  the road test will be done in a room with a computer. Search youtube and google and you find the answers to the test, Takes about 5 minutes for the test. The questions are common sense and you should have no trouble with the test.

The road test will be done with your own bike,  and as follows, start at the line, make a left turn, and go in and out around   I believe 7 or 8 cones. Go through a mini road course and at the end come to stop. You will then go across a " bridge " which is a board  about 3 inches high, and 6 inches wide. Cross the the bridge and again come to complete stop and you are done. Make sure to use your turn signals, and of course use a helmet. Takes maybe 2 minutes to complete. Most fail because of failing off the wooden bridge. The faster you go across the plank the more stable the bike will be. Both test are easy and you should no problems with either.

  4. As someone said, there must be 5 other plus threads on this subject. I”m a American expat who did the process last month. Seems like most American expats are terrified on the ASQ. Again, it is 2 weeks of your life . During the ASQ learn Thai, or another language, do online courses, and etc. After the 7th day you can  leave your room for at least 2 hours a day. As for the cost and time  cost around 2500 USD or less for flight, insurance, Covid test, and ASQ, and takes less than 40 minutes to apply for the COE

  5. I used the Thai Embassy in DC,  For the ASQ you will need a confirmation from the Hotel itself. The insurance I used AXA and had no issues getting the COE. See attached examples of both. You only need to stay at that that hotel for 15 days. When you apply for the COE , they will ask you where you will be staying after you. are done with ASQ. You can use any address you like.

You should of received it by now. I would say about the 3 to 4 weeks at the most for it get here.

I got the got the letter from the IRS stating my payment was sent to my bank in about 3 weeks in July.

You need inform the IRS it was not received.

Ya, was thinking 6 weeks max. Will check on the IRS website as to what I need to do. If they reissue the check could I have the local post office hold and not try to deliver it to my home ?

  8. The Fit to Fly certificate. was the easy part. You download it see attached ,  fill in the information and hand it in while  doing the doing the test. They will email it back to you with lab reports. When I checked in at Delta/KLM counter in Orlando all they wanted to same was the COE, and the lab report, same when doing the pre boarding check at AMS. covid19_medical_certificate_thailand.pdf

The 40k/400k is not required for a COE. It might of been a problem with the $100,000 covid 19 insurance needed it for the COE.

Was not a issue with the 100K Covid 19 , see attached , 90 sure percent was because I have Non 0 visa and the coverage was for that. In the reason for rejecting the COE the first time was " please upload the insurance policy for the 40L/400K for in and out patient ". See attached .

The embassy website still states this.

"The applicants must submit the following:

    • Health insurance policy document issued by a Thai or foreign insurance company, stating that the applicant is medically insured for the period and with coverage as mentioned above:
      (a) In case of a foreign insurance company, the applicant must submit the original insurance policy document with 2 copies;"

That is it. Did submit my Cigna policy but was rejected. A Cigna Rep told me the hospitals in Thailand accept Cigna International, which is true used it before but the Thai Embassy's in the states will not for a COE. She said they had received numerous calls about this.

It was a embassy that did not accept it. A embassy is not part of the immigration bureau.

He did not explain why it was not accepted. But he might not of had the required proof for it such as a overseas insurance certificate.

My Cigna International Insurance was not accepted by the Thai Embassy in DC even though it covered way above  the 40K and 400 K in and out patient and the 100K for covid 19. Due to the " New standard procedure " enacted in late Dec, the 40k\400k has to be with a Thailand based Insurance company. Bought a policy online and submitted to the Thai Embassy and was approved for the COE. Keep in mind when I applied for the COE I had a Non 0 multiple  reentry visa. I could have bought the minimum 30 day policy to just to satisfy the COE requirements, but opted for the 45 day policy. As I will be staying longer I will use my Cigna policy for any accident/ health issues.  I chose the Thai company AXA as I could get a quote and buy online in 30 minutes. Plus If not accepted  by the Thai embassy was refundable. AXA Ins .pdf
