  1. 1. South East Pharmacy on Sukhumvit road just west of Soi 15. Whiolesale prices.

    2. Roong Rote Pharmacy (รุ่งโรจน์เภสัช).Soi On-Nut (Sukhumvit Soi 77), away from Sukhumvit Road, about 40m on right side. Large stock of reasonably priced generics.

    3. Wholesale pharmacy on Pradiprat Road, just a short distance from Huay Kwang BTS, and on the Pradiprat portion opposite of Big C. Walking from the main intersection, the pharmacy is located about 60 meters on the left.

Thanks Sheryl. Just what I was looking for. I think I'll check out the Huay Kwang place first.

  2. If you tell us the medications, you will get far better help. Some pharmacies seem to be known for a really great price on certain meds. I don't know about 1 specific pharmacy that has everything for cheap.

I'm not looking for anything specific. Just for a place to go for the types of medicines that people buy on a regular basis. Things for "normal" complaints.

  3. The standard architect fee is 4.5% of the estimated construction cost. This includes all of the documents that you describe in addition to some level of construction supervision.

This is my experience based on a couple of projects near Bangkok.

Edit to add that you might be able to negotiate a fee somewhat less than this depending on the architect's work load.

With all due respect the % rate fee schedules are normally for large construction jobs or moo baans where the arch will get a % and ditto engineers and ditto cost planners.

You can without any difficulty get professional plans prepared for 5/6k a throw.

Granted it will not include site supervision or sourcing subcontractors and it will not include the 80baht planning approval which i paid very recently for my new house.

But 4.5% for a full service ie passing it over as turnkey project is a price that those with the funds but no time are prepared to take even on a single house project.

    Hope your project goes well.

I went back and checked. My 4.5% number above was incorrect. It was actually 3.5%. The buildings were home office (10 x 15 meters footprint x 4 floors); so not purely residential.

For the 5/6 kBaht do you get a full set of plans and BOQ or just the minimum requirements for Thesabahn approval? Is it a custom job or something off the shelf?

i'm interested for when I get around to building my own retirement place.

  5. I have surge protectors on each main circuit, but I guess that other appliances would be affected also in case of a surge protection.

As a test I have even tried switching the beaker with the PC, fan and monitor connected, off and on as fast as possible, and each time all three items are affected.

An automatic recloser operation on the 22 kV distribution primary happens much faster than you can operate a circuit breaker. There is no delay in the first reclose attempt so if the fault is cleared, the circuit is reclosed "instantaneously"; that is in something on the order of 0.04 seconds. I suspect that this is what you are experiencing.

But I assume that a 0.04 second power cut would also not restart my pc and reset the clock on my microwave ?

Maybe not. There might be enough capacitance in those pieces of equipment to keep them going for the less than two cycles it takes for the recloser to operate.

  7. I don't know where to find anything like you mention but the standard approach seems to be to install a turbine ventilator near the apex of the roof that works by convection. These are readily available at most building supply places.

Another approach is to install solar-powered fans in the eaves.
