Decline the invitation to meet him.

40 - 60 kBaht sounds about right to do a standard corporate registration, depending upon the amount of registered capital. The tricky / expensive part is no doubt the considereations related to registration undeer the Treaty of Amity. For that, you almost have to use someone with specific experience.

I was working for an engineering company in the US when they asked me if I'd be willing to take a two year assignment in Thailand. That was 1981. In those days this country was considered a hardship posting which meant a 25% salary premium, living allowance, etc. I said yes planning to be here for the two years and save some money.
That first two years led to another two and another two until 1991 when I decided to hang out my own shingle. Here I still am.

As a point of reference, a lot of the old housing authority single family homes that were built around Bangkok in the 1970's have walls made of concrete "cinder" blocks without columns. They also used wooden piles with a concrete pile cap for the foundation. Most of those that received any kind of routine maintenance are still around and very much habitable today. These are typically two storey, three bedroom homes.

I have a copy of the EIT code that dhrobertson refers to in PDF format. It's a large file (>15 MB) but if anyone wants a copy, send me a PM and I'll upload it to some file sharing site for you.
The document is in Thai, of course.

Beano~ I really appreciate your clarification. My address being Krungtep-non rd. soi 3 t. bangken a. muang, nonthaburi is very confusing as when I google my address on goodle maps it very cleary says... Bang Khen. Today looking closely saw the other Bang Khen near to Don Muang and figured that was the one under current threat. So for now I will relax a bit... until I hear otherwise. Thank you again for your help :.)
You are in Tumbol Bangkhen, Amphur Muang of Nonthaburi Province. The warnings in the news are for Bangkhen district of Bangkok. As you suspect, they are too different places.
I wouldn't relax too much though as where you live is still very near the river.

Pull rubber cap off. its there to protect from dust and water, but pulls right off backwards, remains on wiring
release clips holding bulb
take bulb out. If new bulbs glass has been touched by fingers, clean it with blue 80% alcohol first. Fingerprints/grease on bulb will be burned to the inside of cars reflector and glass, and reduce brightness significantly. Install bulb same way as old one. clips on. rubber cap on
halogen usually have approx same lifetime,so replace both sides
You and TransAm were right, the rubber cap does pull off. My initial efforts were just too timid. After that, it's just one clip holding the bulb in place.
Thanks.

Thanks TransAm. I did quite a bit of pulling and twisting on the rubber but there was no movement at all.
I also found a video on the internet but the Ford Ranger that they were working on wasn't anything like mine. I guess the truck that they call "Ranger" in the US is different from what they sell here.

I think I'm getting stupider as I get older.
I'm trying to put a new headlight bulb into my 2003 Ford Ranger but I can't figure out how to get the old bulb out. It looks like it should just twist or pull out but it doesn't and there's a rubber boot around the whole back of the assembly that seems to be permanently fixed in place as well.
Any Ford experts out there?
Thanks in advance.

Any known exposure is reason enough to get checked.

Get a USB card to fit into one of the expansion slots on your mainboard.

Surprising the routine maintenance didn't pick up on the flaws.
Routine maintenance?

I had a shophouse at one time with a flat concrete roof that leaked. My solution was to lay tile on the roof and increase the slope to the drains at the same time. It worked and also gave me some semi-usable outdoor space.
You should try to more or less seal the leaks first and then let the tilers go to work.

I cancelled my telephone account and I have only one line, but I still have my ADSL.
I think that what's confusing is that you have a phone number from TT&T but the bill comes from TOT. You cannnot have 3bb internet on a TOT line, only from TT&T the phone provider.
When I cancelled the TT&T number I had to go to the TOT office to pay the outstanding monthly charge and then pay another visit to the TT&T office to cancel the line. Fun isn't it?
So now I have ADSL only and no monthly telephone charge.
I'm very surprised that TT&T would agree to this. It amounts to letting you use their assets (the outside plant) for free.

I wonder if anyone is reading this thread, maybe it will become more popular when it all goes tits-up
I'm at least following it since I'm planning my own project in the near future.
Not much to comment about on site work I guess.

P.S. @ "Deke" - recognise the waitress (last picture)? She's still there (after who knows how many years) - as is that fantastic Ox Tongue Stew - seeing this in Thai Rath today means I will be there tomorrow for lunch!
Patrick
I always thought that most of the waiters/waitresses there at least looked like they've been around for decades. I'm pretty sure most of them have.
If I wasn't tied up with all kinds of meetings this week I'd join you for lunch. Haven't been there in a long time.

It's two separate issues:
1. The company sells the house.
2. You disolve, or abandon, the company.
The quote of 64,000 Baht to take care of the company disolution sounds reasonable to me. The accounting issues are not trivial.

I've had the attached list for years. No idea how accurate it is or where it originally came from.

If all else fails, the fan-fold paper for dot matrix printers is 8.5 x 11 inch after you tear off the parts on the side that feeds through the printer sprockets. Be sure to get the kind that is perferated on both sides.
edit: spelling

Has he checked that there is line of sight from your balcony?
I would try and get the dish screwed down in some way, or you will be for ever
having to realign it if someone knocks it, to the maid cleands round.
My Balcony
It would seem like you could clamp the dish support to that railing somehow whithout drilling holes in the balcony or railing itself.

Why not meet him at Makkasan which is set up for that?

I use ibanking from Bangkok Bank. It lets me do bill paying & prepaid top ups. Very convenient.
Some of the hardware you mention sounds like Magic Jack. Plugs into an ethernet router & then ordinary handset plugs into that.
The IAD functions similar to Magic Jack (I use one of those too) but it's more "generic" in that it connects directly to your router and is configurable. In fact, the Linksys IAD that they gave me can accept two separate SIP accounts with two separate telephones attached. I currently only use the one though.
OK, so you did get an IAD as well. Is that a Cisco/Linksys PAP2T? Did you purchase that, and you own it now? If you purchased it did you pay 1,700? Or do you rent it and have to return it? If you rent it, do you pay the 100 baht/mo.?
That 3,700 baht all in package, with IAD, 400 days validity and 2,000 baht calling credit looks pretty good. I was going to buy a PAP2T anyway.
Magicjack is a proprietary-ish USB/1 port IAD, essentially. Before you could hack Magicjack to get all the details necessary to use any SIP client/IAD but they changed the verification hash a while ago to prevent this activity. At least I haven't been able to get verified on MJ using SIPDroid on my Android phone.
I wish I could remember the exact details of the promotional package that I bought but it seems like it ended up being 2000 Baht credit, 200 days validity and the IAD.
I refill the account by going to 7-Eleven and giving them the phone number.
There was no deposit or anything on the IAD, it's an outright purchase. It is the PAP2T already configured to work with CAT2Call.
I did have a little trouble initially setting it up with the softphone because the password to access the account was already in the IAD and they hadn't given it to me separately. A few Emails back and forth got it straightened out though. CAT's customer service people are very friendly.
