  1. One of the key figures invited to help boost the carrier's fortunes and increase revenue is a foreigner who formerly ran an airline based in the Middle East, said the THAI chairman.

    A farang. clap2.gif Progress?

Rather depends on whether he ran the airline successfully or not!

Farangs, as opposed to foreigners, who fit the criteria must be few and far between.

  2. Lipe has unfortunately pretty much gone down the same road as other assorted islands when Thai developers from the mainland "discovered" a few years ago that a lot of money can be made there and started building up their resorts and restaurants and nightlife venues.

What nightlife "venues" are you talking about?

  3. I use air asia sometimes and i dont have a problem selecting the add ons i want. No bags or 25kg of baggage? Travel insurance or deselect it as i always do. Its the total price tp pay and the timings that you need to compare against the other flight options.

You are correct and wrong at the same time. It is the total prices you need to compare. Problem is Air Asia advertises the price with out the normal extras that you must pay.

AirAsia's advertised prices on its website includes the COMPULSORY charges you HAVE TO pay, i.e. airport tax, fuel surcharge, VAT etc. What it doesn't include are OPTIONAL charges, i.e. baggage, seat selection, scoff etc. Some folk prefer to have the choice. You may have a processing fee depending on your choice of payment method, but that's not unique to low-cost airlines.

  4. I once complained to BA that they should have called to warn their passengers of an extended delay to one of their flights I was on...arriving at check-in and being told I would have to hang around for some hours. The girl was incredulous saying 'there are 250 people on the flight and you expect us to contact all of them'.... Inconveniencing a few BA staff rather than 250 passengers was obviously a silly idea!

Easy enough to SMS or even call half a dozen passengers to save them even setting out to the airport in the wrong direction.

Can they send an sms from their desk phone, or do you expect them to send 250sms's from their personal mobile phones ?

Have to wonder about the honesty of this post regarding notifying 250 passangers of a delay when the largest aircraft Bangkok Airways has in it's fleet is an Airbus A320 with a capacity of 162. Of course this is ThaiVisa so exaggeration and hyperbole are always in style. Of course BA could just be overbooking flights by 88 people to account for the no shows. Sure, that's it.

Dearie me! BA is British Airways, Bangkok Airways is PG. So, no need to worry about anyone's honesty, exaggeration or hyperbole.

  5. Yeah certainly should be fingers crossed. The store I ordered was from a website called skate warehouse.com. Prices were decent when buying it. But now its inflated to almost double with shipping and the UPS bullshit money stuff.

I won't have to worry about shipping - it's free, or included in the cost, whichever way you want to look at it. On the other hand, order a couple of shirts from Tailor on Ten in Bangkok and they stiff you an extra 750 baht for delivery to Hat Yai.

  6. I wonder why is USPS or other government courier services are never in this sort of situation ? Anybody had a bad experience with those also ?

with my experience non-courier services (normal post) a lot of the times the parcels simply come in under the radar, occasionally I do get stung for import taxes and duties but that is rare.

With companies like UPS, they always do the customs calculations and also do the collecting.

I regularly order shirts from The Tailor Store online. Their factory is in Sri Lanka and delivery is by UPS to Thailand. Never had to pay any customs charges yet - got another package due next week, so fingers crossed.

  7. I would not stand in line 15 minutes for Taiwan style chicken...

I would stand in line for 15 minutes for fresh, hot, glazed Krispy Kreme donuts though!!!

The Krispy Kreme outlet at Don Mueang hasn't gone out of fashion. Loads of folk to be seen heading back to the provinces loaded up with a dozen or two Krispy Kremes as hand baggage.

  8. That's great smile.png

Although I think the guy that said he bought it for 95K in Pattaya is "totally" cheaper as the fuel, hotel, time cost will be close to 7-10K. The best price I found was 99K in Mityon close to Tukcom excluding the registration fee. Don't know if transfer fee and registration fee is the same though.

I'm not sure I understand you. It didn't cost me anything in fuel, hotel or time. The bike is currently being sold in Thailand for 89,900 Baht, plus registration. I would assume most large dealers have access to the same deals from Honda. You asked a pretty straightforward question ... I just gave you a straightforward answer.

"Where can I buy the Sh150i with visor and box for 95k?

  9. Someone interested easily can send a message to ask. There are people who mentioned even cheaper prices in the forum. Someone Not stupid will check few dealers and or will ask. . Upset coz ur price have to go down?

I ask u now. Where can I buy the Sh150i with visor and box for 95k?

Not sure about the "new" price of 105k. I've just bought one for 90k Baht in Hat Yai - including Givi box and windshield thingy (I got the dealer to remove that). Had a choice of black or white - both in stock - chose the black one as per the pics in the OP. It was on offer at the Hat Yai Motor Show last week at that price and is advertised in the showroom for 95k.

Picking it up tomorrow ... can get pics if you want. thumbsup.gif

  10. I'm not sure about the SH150i not being available in Thailand. I bought one this afternoon in Hat Yai (choice of colours black/white available). All-in price of 90k Baht incl a E30 Givi box fitted. Ideal for my needs.

  11. "A taxi to Hat yai from airport, will cost 350-380 depends on negotiation with driver,so don't do it.

I took the songteaw to southern busterminal and paid 40thb."

A meter taxi from opposite Arrivals should be 200 Baht to Hat Yai City Centre. Same price for the return journey.

My thai-gf asked some of them, while i was standing 100m away.

    The infos she'd got was:

Most of them don't want to use meter, especially not when you're a farang.

    BUT..if you can get a taxi with/without meter on,then 200thb is not a fortune :-)

    Anyway,thanks a lot for info thumbsup.gif

I'm pretty sure the prices are listed at the taxi-meter booth. I'll check next time I'm up there. When I can through a couple of weeks ago, the airport limo folk had a promotion for 250 Baht one-way.

Regarding cheap hotels, the Tune in Hat Yai is a conversion rather than a new build so the rooms are quite large (for a Tune property). Good value for money if the inclusive package is booked on the likes of Agoda.
