Just a matter of justification, there are 100s of 1000s of Christians, Buddhists, Hindus living in the Middle east for work and living, will they allow them build Churches and Temples there ?
If they are talking about religious freedom, they should consider in every country, not just enforce in the secular countries.
It has nothing to do with the middle east and everything to do with Thailand. They seem quite happy to build Buddhist temples in Satun, Yala, Pattani etc, so why the issue with mosques in muslim minority provinces? Or should the buddhist temples in the moslem majority provinces be bulldozed?

Riding a hot air balloon in Thailand ? Ive lived this long here, despite riding a bike occasionally without a helmet, often ridden the railways, driven a car, once actually went in a public minivan, ridden motorcycle taxis, tuk tuks, been on the balconies of tall buildings, rented a jet ski and by sheer luck survived them all.........however, Im thinking a flight in a Thai hot air ballon might just be a step too far.........
Thailand, I love you. But youre the land that health and safety forgot.........
According to the OP, it's an International event ... so no problem! Look forward to your pics.

Right, the beach is as close as the dark side from beach road in Pattaya ;D
Timewise, that's probably true.
-
Nobody goes to Had Yai, coming from Malaysia or Singapore, for beaches or shopping - trust me on that
Quite possibly because there aren't any beaches in Hat Yai. Trust me on that!

Plenty of naughty night life in Hat Yai to keep these devout Moslem men happy whilst on their vacation.
The vast majority of Hat Yai tourists are Chinese Malaysians ... then Indian Malaysians. The Malay guys tend to come with their families.

The flag market behind Wat Bowon will do them "off the shelf" or made to measure.

I live across the road from Songkhla railway station and there is no way that the old station can be used without cutting through Lee Supermarket ....
As for the old Songkhla railway station there still working on the building once its finished I will put up some pictures .
I think that some some cultural centre was/is planned for the old railway station. I'd like to see more of the same in the old town.
-
On another note, a few years back there was a local councilor who's manifest was to link up some villages towards Sadao to HY and out towards Songkhla with an electric train service. lol.
There was a large meeting in Hat Yai a couple of weeks ago about the proposed monorail system.

Avoid the three provinces listed above and there is no problem. If you drive to Malaysia you need
- Translation of registration document provided by the transport department.
- License plate using western alphabet (you get the necessary characters from the translation above) (I printed out the number in large font, had it laminated and fastened it over the Thai plate)
- Insurance valid for Malaysia (I have been checked by Malaysian police twice)
You also need to display a vehicle disc (obtained from the Malaysian Dept of Transport, just after customs).

that region [the three southernmost border provinces] is suspicious of outsiders and they don't like you anyway. Next time do the responsible thing and cross at Padang Besar, Bukit Kayu Hitam (Sadao) or one of the Satun crossings.
Never had a problem with the folks when travelling in the southernmost provinces. They seemed to be pretty friendly and appreciative that you were visiting/passing through their little corner of Thailand. I certainly didn't get the impression they had particular "issues" with westerners.

To be honest, the best pizza in Hat Yai, is the Pizza Company.
Don't know where you call home, but I've lived in New York, Boston, Chicago and the West Coast...and this place does the best pizzas.
... if you've been brought up on so-called "pizza" in New York, Boston, Chicago and the West Coast USA. Its only redeeming feature is that it's better than Pizza Hut. Euros might have a different opinion as to what constitutes (good) pizza.

I think the comment on Haad Yai having the most attractive women is far off: Bangkok is now the hands-down winner in that department, IMHO.
To be fair, I think the "good looking women" claim was per capita.

I admit the municipality park is cool.
That's the Ice Dome for you! You ain't got one of them in Ban Phru. LOL.

According to my neighbors and the previous tenants of my house who lived all over Thailand, Hatyai is one of the worst places in terms of rat infestation. My wife also agrees with them.
LOL. I remember visiting Hameln - it was lovely. Just like Hat Yai.

You should be aware that martial law has been in force in the far southern region since 2005, and Thai authorities have on occasion instituted special security measures in affected areas, such as curfews, military patrols, or random searches.
Enjoy your carefree stay there with other "quality" tourists...
Martial law is in force across the entire country in case you haven't noticed. Are you actually in Thailand?

Other tactics used in order to gain publicity from shock and horror are slashing to death Buddhist monks, bombing temples, beheadings, intimidating pork vendors and their customers, as well as arson attacks on schools, killing the teachers and burning their bodies.
Any links, Wikipedia or US State Department included, to any of those incidents taking place in Hat Yai? The thread isn't about Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat, although you appear to think it is.

She could just use the piazza outside Central Fess - it's all cordoned off these days. Can't think of anywhere better in town. I think there used to be a rink in Diana, but it's long gone - a victim of the 2010 flood?

What's the issue with Bangkok Airways ... don't they carry your bike for free?

Anyone have any feedback for the recently opened, Bloomsbury International School. The actual school (on the airport road) looks quite impressive and they appear to be offering a realistic package to their teachers. Seems to be quite a few notches up from the previous offerings in town.
-
You asked exactly the same question 6 months ago. Nothing has changed since.

Depends on how you like your pizza. I'd settle for the offerings at Basil in Hat Yai.
There's a 2nd Pizza Payom too.....about a click from Siam Nakarin. It's near a roundabout near a canal, heading towards Kim Yong from Siam Nakarin through the back streets.
Noticed it today. It's at the roundabout behind the JB Hotel. I'll have to give it a try sometime.

You can subscribe travel policy when booking, I think you even have to undo the travel insurance whilst booking if you don't want the insurance....
They also have the option of choosing a premium flex fare which allows changes.

Where's that? I'll give it a go.
Thus far, Pizza Payom is pretty good to my taste; New York crispy base etc, despite one Southern poster's unsatisfactory service there, I like it.

It's on Soi 2 of the Road (Thanon Punnakan) that runs up the side of PSU towards the Exhibition Centre. The appear to have a Facebook thing ... When you turn onto Thanon Punnakan, it's the 2nd Soi on the right. I often eat at Pizza Payom - now I've got them to go easy on the oregano - it's decent enough for what it is and it's handy for me.

Or, ... It's a great favourite of Nationalists in the UK. If anyone disagrees with your view of the world denounce him as a "Leftist" and hey-presto, argument over.
