  1. Imagine how the other teams might have felt............start with a game against Buriram, play Chonburi in the next game, then have a 'rest' against somebody else for one week before having to take on Muang Thong.

The FAT fixture secretary has excelled once againwhistling.gif

Yes, that was us (Songkhla United). The "rest" was against the Air Force. After the opening four games we were; P4 W0 D1 L3 F3 A8 Pts1. Pretty demoralising stuff!

But the point you did get was against us (although apparently we should have scored at least five).................you must have lost to the Air Force.

Sorry ... looking at the "return" matches. After the first 4 games we were ... P4 W0 D2 L2 F2 A9 Pts2. On a brighter note ... we won't have so far to travel next season to play the likes of Krabi and Phuket. Assuming we don't 'buy' a newly promoted Navy FC and move them to Songkhla.

  2. Difficult to keep up with all these unannounced changes.

What is the benefit of doing the conversion in Bangkok?

We lost already 50% of our customer.

Many people told me already, other places are more welcoming.

We are here to assist, promote Thailand and make a living.

Thai Immigration make it very hard at the moment.

    Just a thought

Its very easy why. Pattaya and Phuket have been the largest areas to obtain an illicit retirement extension. whistling.gif

As has Hat Yai if the OP is to be believed.

Strongly suspect that the number of provincial offices who can process non-O conversions will soon be reduced to zero.

Hat Yai was mentioned as an office to get one not a shutdown location. That is division 6 headquarters.

I think there are 2 locations in Hat Yai - the Div 6 HQ (up near the airport), and the 'city' office on Phetkasem.

  4. So this was your choice for your hot date ?

I think the only place in comparison for price, and somewhere i would only visit once would be the place with the boat bow coming out of the roof, around the corner and down the road from kiss channel.

No - as per the OP, my hot date is in Mueang Songkhla. Got to decide quickly so I can tie it in with the footy when it resumes on Wednesday. I have Hat Yai restaurants pretty well sussed. wai2.gif

  5. Down on the Riverside near where the car ferry comes in....good western and Thai food.

Does it have a name? I seem to recall a local politico being slotted down that way several years ago. Is it the same place?

Could be....cant remember the name sorry. But the food there i experienced was good last time i went....

The place the other poster is talking about with the frangipani Trees, is called "Sea Sport"...used to be great....now it's crap and they have two pricing menus, one for thais and one for foreigners....The foreigner Menu can be VERY expensive....Give it a miss.

Hasn't the Sea Sport in HY opened under another name? Or is that further along? Went in to check the menu of the recently re-opened place on the corner near Dental Land and the were asking for 220 Baht ++ for a bowl of vegetable soup with minced pork, same for a bowl of green curry. We declined to return.

  6. You're (normally) allowed one consignment of personal effects. After that, you pay whatever is due. Pretty easy to understand.

That's only if you're coming in on a residency visa

Or a Non Imm B for at least one year. From The Customs Department website ...

    • Nonresidents: Nonresidents may import the used/secondhand household effects acquired abroad tax and duty free if such household effects accompanied them in the change of residence and they are qualified under the criteria listed below:
    • Nonresidents resuming residents in Thailand must be granted a non-immigrant quota as shown in a passport or a Nonresident Identification Card; or
    • Nonresidents granted to work in Thailand are regarded as resuming residents in Thailand provided they have a one-year non-immigrant visa issued by the Immigration Department. In case where the non-immigrant visa has not yet been granted, either of the following documents may be accepted:
      • The letter from the Immigration Department certifying that the nonresidents shall be granted an annual temporary stay in Thailand; or
      • The work permit from the Department of Labor to work in Thailand for at least one year.

Obviously seen that the guy is on an Ed Visa ... can't understand why he thinks he shouldn't pay the duty on stuff he's importing.

  7. Where do you live? Chumphon? Trang? Betong? facepalm.gif

    Hatyai...I think...biggrin.png

I went to the Countdown at Central Fess last year ... it was really quite good, but alcohol free. The kids would enjoy it. With the 5 day holiday pretty much approved, I'll probably be having a look at what's on elsewhere. Got to admit, I like Bangkok during extended New Year holidays.

  8. I use 17track ... works well for stuff going to UK from Thailand and coming from UK (or China, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Germany - presumably works for most other countries). Currently tracking some sports clothing coming from Lovell Rugby in UK ... now at Lak Si ... will probably be on this afternoon's truck down to Songkhla.

  9. This great General can do anything? He is now a nutritionist?

What about the copious amounts of sugar that is being consumed by the younger Thais?

The sugar probably has a lower glycemic rating than Thai (Jasmine) rice.

It is his buisness as he is into promoting happyness in the Thai people. It is hard to be happy when your health and the health of your loved ones is declining rapidly.

The health care costs of looking after a sick population can be horrendous.

Eating loads of Thai rice isn't going to do a lot for your health. It might be useful for guys riding the Tour de France, not so much for a population that won't walk anywhere further than 100m.

  10. If I were in a romantic mood I would head to the restaurants over the lake, But they are closer to the hat yai side of the lake .. Google ko seng seafood songkhla, there are 6 restaurants in a row, cafe 56 seems the best.

I was after Songkhla City. I've got my favourite Hat Yai restaurants pretty well sussed. Thanks anyway. Anywhere in Songkhla City do a good steak?

  11. It depends on the size of the stones and their position in the bladder. The flexible option camera may indicate that the size and/or position of the stones requires the rigid procedure, in which case you'll end up paying twice. Elect to go with the rigid option and you can kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Regarding private rooms, I have been offered a private room previously at Prince of Songkla Uni Hospital in Hat Yai - less than 1k Baht per day and every bit as good as those offered at Bangkok Hat Yai (and the exact same doctors). The other difference was it was a requirement that you arranged for someone to stay in the room with you, rather than an option. Priority for the rooms normally goes to uni employees ... the arrangements are laid out on the hospital's website.

Around three years ago the rigid procedure (3 day stay and including post-op chemo (inserted directly into the bladder via catheter)) was around 25k (excluding pre-op bloods etc) at the hospital mentioned above. The price quoted privately in Bangkok (Bumrungrad and Vejthani) was circa 60-80k as a day patient (no post-op chemo).

  12. How about a government run Airport on Koh Samui. This would stop Bangkok Air's monopoly on the Island. It is So expensive to fly in and out of Samui, thanks to Bangkok Air

You could argue that it's only possible to fly in and out of Samui thanks to Bangkok Air. I assume they done a deal to put up the cash and build/run the airport when no-one else was interested. What was the deal? A 20 year concession? I'm one of the many folk who are happy to pay a bit extra for an airport which hasn't destroyed the area that it's meant to serve.

Doesn't Bangkok Airways also already operate an Airport in Trat?

  13. The seafood restaurants on samila beach, excellent, best tom yum goong I ever had,

    Any restaurant in particular.?

songhkla has the biggest lake in thailand, feeds into the gulf, goong daam, black prawns are farmed here,as for the romantic side, try what the local expsts call the 'dark side', if it's still happening, english guy had the 'office' bar, mine of information.that should get you started.

    regards songhklasid.coffee1.gif

What's the Dark Side? A Club? Restaurant? I looked up The Office Bar on Google ... didn't appear to be anything very romantic about it - just some rather large guys scoffing pies and burgers. sad.png

  14. OP, are you looking for a hot date or some good food (nosh)?

Being a foreigner I do not understand English idiomatic expressions.

Now.....for food, plenty of restaurants around.

"Now.....for food, plenty of restaurants around." I was hoping someone would come up with a few suggestions. Thai or international will do fine ... both, if you're feeling generous. wai.gifwai2.gif

For a hot date, why should you bother getting dressed, going out, spending money..... just stay indoors and use your hands.

It will be the same outcome.

Two things I don't do at home - laundry and cook food. In both cases, I'm more than happy to support the Thai economy.
