That's the best way, but doubt the insurance lobby (and all the hangers on) would like it, as that way the money only would go to the medical professionals when actual services needed.
Still need $50,000 usd insurance to get into Cambodia.

I assume you mean a 30 day visa exempt entries since a visa on arrival is only for 15 days and is only available to those from a few countries.
There is not written limit on the number of visa exempt entries or the number of days you can stay on them over any amount of time.
At land border crossings they are limited to 2 per calendar year.
There will be no problem for you do the entries you plan on doing.
Good info, thanks. As you seem to be quite knowledgeable on the subject of Thai visas I have a question. I will be in Hanoi Vietnam this January I would like to know if I can get a 60 day Thai tourist visa from the thai consulate there. I am Canadian. I've heard rumors that new types of Thai tourist visa will be available soon.

So does this mean that we as foreigners who sell anything, even like a bike or car or jacket or computer monitor are breaking the immigration law of working with out a permit and taking a job from a Thai? This country is beginning to smell and we are all going to have to redefine the thin line of what not to cross.
There is a big difference between selling a bike and begging on the streets

It's about time to get the baht under control. There are a lot of other countries whose currency is not over bloated which makes them cheaper and more attractive to holiday in.

People buy a big superbike and have absolutely no experience riding these bikes. Yea a lot of them will end up crippled or dead. And Thailand is not the only country this happens. It happens all over the world. It should be mandatory that a person should have experience riding a 400cc - 650cc bike before they get on an insanely fast superbike. I've been riding bikes for 40 years, and I worked my way up from 400cc - 500cc - 750cc bikes to a Ducati 999 monster. If that Ducati had been my first bike I would probably be dead.

Hun Sen and his cronies are giving Cambodia little by little to China. They get more rich and Cambodia will lose its heritage because of their greed.

The only reason they are mining, building infrastructure, etc. in certain countries (definitely not "everywhere around the world" as you claim) is because those underdeveloped/developing countries let them in in return for a few million dollars and a few bilateral trade agreements. China is currently one of the very few countries (maybe even the only country?) which has the necessary small change to hand out to these developing countries in return for their mining rights.
"We" have made China the economic powerhouse it is - like it or not.

How wrong you are my friend.

Thailand is shooting itself in the foot. And they will feel that pain when their exports and tourism drops drastically because of the over inflated baht.

Not to mention that Thai banks has a ridiculous interest rate for savings account compared to other Asian countries - Vietnam 8%, Cambodia 10% and so on, thai banks offer 1.25%. Better keep your money at home - not in thai banks cause lets not forget that some people also mysteriously loose their savings ...
What bank in Cambodia gives 10% interest rate????

A lot of the Chinese have invaded Cambodia. Not such a great thing as the beaches crater mostly to Chinese only, Khmer businesses and workers are being pushed out and Chinese crime is rampant. Hun Sen and his cronies are selling off a lot of properties for huge profits to Chinese developers. At least Thailand hasn’t sold out all there coast and islands to the Chinese. Can’t wait to get back to Thailand and enjoy the beaches without shoulder to shoulder Chinese tourists.

Ah... another French-hating Thaivisa member ... great, so the tension is released and you won't have to take your pills today, mate.
Thank you Thaivisa for allowing all those lovely brigades (Thai Bashers, Hang'em Highers, French Haters, Islam Haters, etc) to release the intolerable pressure they have to deal with on a daily basis because the world is so stupid it doesn't understand that they are RIGHT. And why are they right ? Because.
you forgot to mention those "filthy backpackers"

Why ? It is a gem of an area that does not get the credit it deserves. Since January 2014, many have found solace there. It is quaint and charming like Bangkok and other areas use to be.
a lot longer before 2014. lol

It will be very inconvenient for all the teams, the supporters and transporters as its a good 6 hour drive to get there. What about catering ? Bring it hundreds of street vendors !! What about hotels ? And the traffic will be gridlock in the area. Will be chaos. But we will definitely be going !!
Will they also need permits and guides like the rest of us foriegner bikers?

Usually drugs are not the root cause of problems.
Drugs just takes a bad person and makes the situation worse.
Take away the drugs and you still have a broken person.
It's not black and white... But the point is, if you find that you have massive drug problems in a population, i guarantee that trying to take away the drugs will not fix the real problems.
Also i dont think thailand has serious drug problems except that i think its seriously problematic that weed is illegal.
You don't have a clue about what you are talking about. I have not heard so much dribble as you talk. I have seen good and intelligent people lose everything due to hard drugs. Most of them did not start drugs because they were broken people. Fortunately many people make it back to reality. Many don't. Weed is just another gateway drug like tobacco and alcohol. The most common problem is excess use due to addiction.

Hmmm, is that a excuse you make for Thai people, if I was Thai I would be insulted. The wage they make is relative to Thailand, it is not my fault that their leaders are the one's that have the foot on their necks. You think like some Thais in general which just re-enforced what I and others are saying here. Just because we have it compare to the average Thai does that mean we should be targeted?
Yes I know the Thai people can do it. But I doubt many westerners can.

What next? Clumps of Euro girls selling themselves in the bars around Sukumvit road alongside the locals?
The Russian girls are selling their asses in Pattaya.

According to wiki, Buddha was a very rich guy who went out begging in the streets: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gautama_Buddha#Renunciation_and_ascetic_life
I don't think these beg packers are on a life long quest to achieve enlightenment.

Geez...Talk about media sensationalism...once again.
There have ALWAYS been a percent of the foreigners coming to Thailand and doing it on the Cheap, Cheap.
I once met a guy back in 1993 that claimed he had 600 US dollars for 6 months of stay in Thailand and enjoyed waking everywhere with his back pack that included a small pup tent.
He claimed he walked to Chiang Mai and it took him 23 days of leisurely walking telling me the cost of the bus was too expensive so he decided to walk.
Coming back to Bangkok he said was lucky and met people delivering fruit to Ayuttaya in a pick up truck and they gave him a ride in the back of the truck with the fruit.
Some people will do it the hard and cheap way and call it an adventure of a life time.
Cheers
That's a little different than begging though.

Just stirring the pot?
We were all young at one time? I've thought of doing this when I was young but didn't have a clue but what never cross my mind was that I would go backpack and beg? So I give people credit they got the guts to just pick up and do it.
In many ways the Thais are right, should be able to pay your own way. That being said there are many ways of begging, as one poster said " International Aid " like million in USD, given to this government by WHO, for improving the death rate in driving yet in 10 years, Thailand rate gets worse.
Begging depends on how you look at it, dual charging for foreigners, because they think we have it to pay more? charging more for the use of their ATM for foreign cards, Is that begging?
Hmmm... Wonder how you life would be living on the average wage of a Thai. -

My friend's wife just attended a two week course provided by the Thai government on running a small business. She is very successful and has two shops already selling tourist oriented merchandise in Phuket town and Patong Beach. She is presently negotiating to open a much larger shop. The downside for my friend is that he never sees his wife. She goes to work around 13:00 and returns home usually after midnite. Even though she has relatives as managers she must be there alllll the time. They have a couple of hours together around lunchtime. My friend's wife is a Chinese Thai and not an Isarn farm girl.
Can you please give info about this course please. I want to send my gf to try it. She is also Chinese Thai. But she needs a course like this to help her understand business better

No
Only the visa is free at a embassy or consulate. You still have to pay 1900 baht for the 30 day extension of the 60 day entry from one.
Thanks for the info.

So I can extend my 60 day tourist visa for 30 more days free of charge?
