To little-to late
The rice is harvested and the burning's in full swing right now
Clouds of smoke in every direction
Same thing every year-no one pays any attention
A waste-the paddy fields would be improved if they would just plow the stalks back in ,instead of burning
I agree but it is hard to plow on the mountain sides where most of the burning seems to be.

Jeez, didn't I just agree with your post? I didn't say I was right or knowledgable, I have been been noticing posts on RA recently and there is also a Facebook group .. I honestly don't take too much notice because it doesn't effect me.
the Facebook group is Thailand - new regulations affecting overland travelers - David is a member of the group.
Thanks mate

There is a lot of info on RideAsia about this subject, you are slightly right, something like, you can enter for 30 days and then get extensions - but the monthly extensions but are limited to 2 or 3 in a calendar year or something along those lines.
There is also a Facebook group covering the subject.
Despite a slight disagreement with the fb group, i think the RA guys have really been doing their homework, it's not just a matter of guesswork.
Thanks for the response. But I believe you are wrong about extensions. I will look at RA forum. I've been a member of Golden Triangle Rider for some time and administrator David is very knowledgeable on the subject. And thanks for your info.
Keep the Wind in your Face.

Who would know why And they only be guessing anyway.
If 30 days ain't a nuff, fly in and hire a bike loads to choose from now.
Yea, I will rent.
This is the first year that I have not brought my bike to Thailand in 8 years. Disappointing to say the least. Hope they change the rules in a year or two.

Have there been any amendments recently to bringing a foreign bike from Cambodia into Thailand? Last I heard only 30 days allowed with no extensions and no more than 60 days in one year. Why is it that all foreign tourists have to pay for the consequences of the Chinese tourists behavior in Thailand?

That article is a total bull crap..
This week is Chinese holiday must be the only true statement in there...
Most of the Chinese bookings in the north have been cancelled: decrease of easy 50% compared to last year for this special holiday period which is usually a very big deal in term of volume of chinese tourists...
One of the reason is the blockage of Chinese cars at the border started in march-April: Karavan tours, locals in the north complained that Chinese drivers were not driving properly 5555.
Nearly blocked 100% and the only cars entering Chiang Rai province were not allowed to change province and go further south.
Since last month, some extra regulations came in from government: insurances and such..
Glad they found a few Chinese tourists at the white temple, at least makes a good photo and keep K Kobkarn happy..
Can you give more info about regulations of foreign vehicles coming into Thailand or tell me where to get that info.

It is too expensive-they are unrealistic in thinking this will boost tourism!
Okay for tourist with money but maybe not so good for backpackers. Aw, what a shame. lol
-
I hope multiple means more than just 3 times. It would be great for us bikers who would like to be able to go into Laos, Burma and Cambodia for short side trips whenever we wanted.

this is such a non topic.
How much did the menu say it would cost?? didnt bother to check then tough. Same as getting in tuk tuk and not setting a price.
Is it a scam - yes, when you have a job interview and discuss your salary, do you honestly say what you think you are worth to the company, or the absolute MAX you think they will pay.
And besides - they never complained about the food, seafood is expensive and if it was decent there is a seafood restaurant here in Phuket I go to that has prices that match this. Better location than BKK i suspect, but it is not WAY over the top.
And if you get taken to place because your taxi driver suggests it - you get what you deserve.
There is a thing called the internet - do some research.
Wow, you are a bit of an a$$hole. Kind of sounds like you have an interest in this restaurant. Not all tourists are as savvy as you but that doesn't mean they should be blatantly ripped off.

RIP, Olly.
But, again, no travel insurance. Had the poor guy survived and needed medical treatment and subsequent repatriation the cost would have been at least three times as much as repatriation of a body.
I wouldn't be against a mandatory requirement for travel insurance when going abroad to cover the period of stay, I really wouldn't.
I was a travel agent for 15 years. I owned 5 agencies. Travel insurance companies pay agents 35 to 40% commission and I can tell you that getting any money out of them for anything is a joke. I have travelled the world many times and never used it. The only way I would even consider it is on a one way situation and even then I wouldn't. It is the biggest rort ever.
Yes,have to agree with you.Travel insurance is a scam. The private clinics, hospitals and dentists there are cheap. Just be informed before traveling.

Why would Holland import crap Thai weed? Seriously its like importing piss water when you have a lake full of Glenfiddich.
Obviously you have bad connections here for weed. There is some top notch stuff in Thailand.

just back from socalled "VISA-RUN" in MAE SAI over to TACHILEIK (burma-myanmar) -
good news so far - the "old rules" - out and in mae sai/tachileik - same same - no difference!
you stamp out in mae sai - walk over - pay 500 baht (they will NOT accept 10 us dollars!) - get 14 days - let you passport at immigration myanmar - you get a temporary borderpass - you can do what you want in the township - you can book a tour to kengtung with a guide, but you must come back same way - stamp out myanmar - walk over to thailand - and stamp in for your next period in thailand.
(be careful with "smuggeling" alc and cig - the thai-ARMY checkin together with custom officers all luggage/bags with scanner...! - asking them - per person 1 lt alc (more then 15 %) or some litres of wine are ok! - 1 carton of cigarettes)
if you have a valid visa for myanmar/burma - issued for example in bangkok at the embassy - valid 28 days tourist-visa - you stamp out thailand - stamp in in myanmar and you can travel by your own into myanmar...! - there is maybe a chance to arrange the myanmar-visa with a "travel agent in chiang rai (for example AA Fair Tour in town. However they will charge you 3000 bht for the service. They were very efficient and I had the visa in less that a week" - copy from posting "flekwart) in Chiangrai Ties Forum)
BUT with your valid myanmar-tourist-visa 28 days - you can only travel by flight from tachileik to HEHO and RANGOON or other destinations (there are many travel-agents now in tachileik - about 4-5 airlines out/in-bound tachileik) - or you can take the public bus to KENGTUNG and fly from there to HEHO etc. - you are NOT ALLOWED to travel with your own vehicle (car/motorcycle) into myanmar! by bus to keng tung yes - further to TAUNGGYI by road/bus/taxi - NO!!!
that's the main-infos important to me at the moment - will give you more infos and photos for example GOLF and AIRPORT later this week! - great golfcourse in tachileik!
Took my motorcycle into TACHILEIK last April. Had Cambodia plates,no problem. Didn't travel far outside of the town. This year will try again and see if I am allowed to ride down to Mae Sot and exit there.

I agree with the OP.
I am in rural Isaan and I know a few girls who work in the south and send/ bring the money home for family.
They don't advertise what they do for the money and don't do it at home.
People know what's going on and do not disrespect the girls for doing it.
Many would be very poor families now do pretty well. Nicer house, nicer clothes for the children, maybe a truck or tractor to make the farm more profitable.
It's all good.
Good merit
If I were an attractive young woman with a needy family, in Thailand, I would have no problem with helping the family like this!
In the west...forget it!
P.S. Hanging out, partying in bars and getting rubbed for a l good money, expensive gifts and sponsorship doesn't sound like an unpleasant occupation! to me!
The occupation is called prostitution.

Easier to do in Cambodia. But you need bike registered in your name and reg. card to enter other countries. Just having a receipt no longer works. Can take up to 3 months to get the card. A lot sooner if you can grease the right palms. Once you have then no problem getting across borders, except China and Vietnam. That is a different story altogether.
Get an enduro bike, much better for the kind of roads and travel in these counties.

They gu has huge steroid-fed muscles, but I bet his testicles are shrunken raisins. 'Roid rage baby!
He is Alpha.
Most of you little whiners are not. He has more women in a week than what you have in your life. I can understand the bitterness and anger of the Beta boys and White Knights here.
But at least you could get some insight from this guy, that's how life works. And not how your equalist wonderworld from your Western education teaches you.
55555, this site and it's posts are ridiculous and hilarious.

Does he even speak Thai?

There has been talk of Thailand changing for a while now. It would be expensive and take time. Cambodia did it.
What is silly is not letting bikes that are 250cc and larger traveling on expressways.
