  1. It happened here first hand for me yesterday...Kid on a motorbike, no licence I would say, trying to take phone out of back pocket to answer call....BANG !!!! straight through my front gate. Pillion passenger slightly injured, I think it was Grandma...and all this in a out of the way back street....

After all thats going on around here, I am starting to believe what people are saying about the place....

In the 8 yrs I have been in this house, I have not come across one honest Thai person(and I mean everyone) anywhere in this village.

  2. I am trying to work out how the hell you bent it like that....what were you drilling and how?

Besides, those drills are only for drilling the starter holes in Doughnut mixture...

It hasn't been 25 baht for months. We live in uncertain times. The US if it puts up interest rates will lower the value of the AU and therefore make THB more expensive to buy in AU currency.

    • If the International trade issues increase it might devalue the USD to both the AU and the THB so buying THB in AU may not be affected.
    • The THB is losing ground against all currencies after having a stellar run for the last 12 months. If The THB devalues against all currencies, then it will be cheaper when buying from AU currency. The Thai treasury announced they will not be activly looking to reduce the value of the Thai Baht even though it hurts exports and tourism.
    • Most Asian share markets are falling and China's has loss over 10 percent recently.

Make of all that what you will. The AU is heavily traded. If the AU government ups interest rates at all, money will flood back in and it will rise. How much, who knows.

  4. About 4 hrs ago i was travelling on a 2 lane each way divided Hwy and there was heaps of traffic in both lanes...well as it was a highway we were all travelling about 100klms per hour, when i heard a noise like a large truck approaching...It wasnt, it was a guy on a motorbike coming through between myself and a car beside me in the other lane ...he came through that fast, it felt like we were standing still. he would have had to be doing 160klms at least, going on how quick it all happened...he was gone like a flash ahead of us, ducking between cars...gee it was good to get home and close the gate....

The sea in the pictures doesn't look that rough to me. Maybe these photos were taken after 'the storm'.

I have to question how sea worthy these vessels are.

I have to say this...A Photo taken of a rough sea does NOT give a proper perspective of how wild it really is. Having taken photos myself while riding out a Typhoon off Vietnam, and looking at photos later....The sea did not look so rough in the photos...

Vietnam strictly enforces their laws, and there is no tea money. Get caught driving drunk. Lose your vehicle for an extended period and pay a hefty fine. The main reason you see everyone who rides a motor bike wearing a helmet is that they get fined 10 times the amount of the helmet if they are caught without one.  It has nothing to do with morals. It's about safety, and it appears that Vietnam values the lives of its citizens more than Thailand values Thai lives.

tea money..WRONG !!!!...But it has slowed down considerably from 15yrs ago.

  7. I dont think you can...Try contacting the Customs dept, at the point of entry, BEFORE you try to do...My missus accidently had a petal from a flower in her coat pocket, when we arrived in Brisbane...Wow! was that an experience for sure...We looked like getting a $3000 fine, but worked it out thankfully...

They are VERY strict about this, so be warned...contact them first.

  8. Hope they cancel the BBC Weather Forecasts soon. They changed the format a while back and now show a satellite photo...The trouble is it shows HIGH CLOUD cover(because it's taken from space) and nothing about the SURFACE picture...Waste of time looking at it as they removed the wind direction as well, and now you cant work out whats coming or going weather wise....

Interesting dynamics leading up to these kinds of end-states.

A number of years ago, I drove around exploring the surrounding rural area where I live, and came across an impressive concrete flood control canal similar to the one below but much bigger/wider.  The top area on both sides was still dirt, so it appeared to me the work crews either didn't finish it properly, or they weren't done yet; although I didn't see any equipment or men around.  They could have been elsewhere, it was a very large project spanning many kilometers in both directions from where I was standing.

    image.png.369c1e1b5bf382b689f91f9db6aedbee.png

I was driving over the same bridge months later and it looked like a bomb had gone off.  Shockingly large sections of the concrete side walls had collapsed and broken apart, obvious that rainwater invaded from the unimproved dirt top areas, eroding the earthen foundation behind and under the concrete.

Dunno, maybe they ignored thousands of years of knowledge and experience, and didn't let the fill settle long enough, or they started too late in the year, or simply got behind schedule, stretched thin, and got caught out by rain season.  I wondered if political pressure played a part as money was being thrown at infrastructure improvement projects, and in the desire to show "The People" all the good works being done for them.  Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

You must live near me....Exactly the same thing happened here..what a waste of money and effort.....

I dont think that line would be meant for the bump head feed type spool. But would be perfect for the plate type heads the Thais use where u just put on 4 short lengths. Would last forever

Sent from my SM-J730GM using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Sorry ...but it wont. The moment you cut it...it's starting to fray already. Cut up against a brick wall or driveway, and you are asking for disaster....NEVER EVER use anything with wire or chain on a Trimmer....The Twist Nylon string is the best and lasts longer than any other type of cord. Expensive, and i dont think it's available here in Thailand.

To finalise my comments re plastic covered trimmer wire.

Having 50% Scottish blood and having spent Bht 50.40, I decided it should be tried, all comments were taken on board of course.

    Outcome - not good.

wire is too stiff to properly wind onto the small diameter spool on the trimmer.

being stiff it didn't feed correctly.

It cut well and no sign of bits flying around.

loading the spool and getting it to feed outweighed the high usage of the nylon line.

    So project aborted.

Any body in the market for a partially used roll of plastic covered steel trimmer  wire - can negotiate a good price ?

    Yep...your Scottish !...?

Looks like you have plenty of clothes line anyway...

More than 3,600 foreigners with criminal records have been arrested at or turned away from five major airports in the first six months of the year, immigration police said Sunday.

If so, then well done to them.

However, my question would be how does the IO office know if someone has a criminal record from outside of Thailand or is wanted in another country. Unless a country has informed Thailand that they may be travelling there and could be a danger, surely their computer at the airport can't access this information.

If I am wrong then please correct me.

HEY ! Who cares?...as long as they stop them...
