  1. To save me starting a new thread, i got my nov 30th stamp today, and then the immigration officer said if i come back a few days before  that date i could get another 60 day extension till the end of January for 1900 baht.

His English wasnt bad but i just want to make sure i have understood this correctly ?, before i go changing my flight plans.

  2. Hi guys, last month i got an extra 30 days till the end of October after i gave  immigration a UK Embassy letter and 1900 baht. My under consideration stamp is on 9 th October so on Friday i will go to the immigration office.

Is it official that they will now stamp me in till 30 November as i paid an extension fee before 26th September, this would be great as i could change my flight plans.

I am going to phone IO before i go there but its always nice to have some prior information.  I was on a non o multi visa.

    Many thanks.

    1. If they allow tourists into the country you could also enter the country using a re-entry permit to keep your extension valid.

    2. You would have to apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) at immigration and then your extension of stay based upon retirement. The only problem you might have is that to apply for the visa you must show proof the 800k baht came from abroad but some offices will waive that if it has been in the bank for a long time.

Hi Joe, ive seen you say a few times that you can apply for 90 day non imm o visa at immigration, i always thought you had to apply at an embassy or consulate abroad for this.

So when i eventually get to return to Thailand could i enter on visa exempt and then just go to my local office for the O visa and 2 months after that get an extension. For me this would be easier than applying at the Thai embassy in London. I have all neccessary documents and money in bank. Also aware that without return ticket i would need another onward travel ticket.

A 1-year Non Imm O-A (long-stay) Visa can ONLY be applied for at a thai Embassy/Consulate in your home-country.

You can apply for a 90-day Non Imm O Visa in-country at your local IO (when having entered Visa Exempt or on a Tourist Visa).  You can also apply for such 90-day Non Imm O Visa at a thai Embassy/Consulate in your home-country or neighboring country.

The 'standard' Non Imm O Visa is 90-days Single Entry, but some thai Consulates also issue the 1-year MultipleEntry Non Imm O Visa (e.g. Savannakhet, HoChiMin City or Penang).

The Non Imm O-A Visa will only be issued for reason of retirement.  But when applying for a 1-year extension once in Thailand you can apply for different reasons (e.g. marriage or thai dependant child, or other).

The Non Imm O Visa can be issued for different reasons (retirement, marriage, thai dependant child, other) and when applying for a 1-year extension of stay of such Non Imm O Visa you can switch type (different reason for application, with different requirements).

    >> You need to check the permission to stay date

    - stamped into your passport when last entering Thailand OR

    - when having applied for an extension of stay of that Non Imm O Visa

It is that permission to stay which determines the period you are allowed to stay in Thailand.

If that permission to stay has expired you are presently on the Amnesty.

Hi Peter, so if i come back on a 30 day visa exempt to Thailand, i can get a 90 day non o visa from my local IO instead of the hassle of applying at the thai embassy in London. I only ask as ive never heard of this before. In this case i realise i wont be able to have a one way ticket.

To the OP pray you dont need to go back to the UK as there are no longer any ME Non imm O you will only get a single entry 3 month non im O type visa although it still has pricing for a ME on the Thai Embassy Website.

Single entry is ok as whilst in the uk i can sign some papers and put 10k pounds in bank. i just want to limit the amount of time i have to stay in the uk.  If no joy with letter im gonna wait a couple of weeks and then book flight,  wifey and daughter not happy,  me neither.

im thinking if im lucky 4 or 5 months away if not lucky.......i dont even want to think about it.

  6. Hi, are the British embassy issuing letters to help us get a 30 day extension once the amnesty finishes.  I have an expired non o ME visa and have used my 60 day extension.

My funds are all tied up in the UK, so no 1 year extension. but an extra 30 days here means 30 days less back in the UK, a trip im now resigned to having to do.

I have been on the embassy website but see no mention of letter, perhaps in my stressed out state im just missing it.

    Thanks.

  7. I have a Bangkok Bank account, im from the uk. The immigration office is in deep issan on border with Laos.  My wife spoke to the immigration officer and she was of the opinion that if the brown envelope was thick enough any seasoning of money wouldnt be important, especially since the im officer gave us a name we should ask for when we got there.  I could be wrong of course.

One more question guys, if i do have to return to the UK, what do you think would happen if my flight was cancelled ?

Thank you all for your replies. i have no idea how this will all pan out.

  8. So what do you think will happen to those of us wIth a ME O VISA  which has expired and have used up their 60 day extension. Do you think that if the borders stay closed and the amnesty is not extended we will be on overstay and have to leave the country.  Given this scenario i cant see any any solution,  any ideas ?

I will of course be in touch with immigration but its always nice to get advice and here the opinions of other members.

  9. My non o  has also now expired and i have already used my 60 day extension, going to speak to my local office this week but if the borders stay shut what can they do ?

I must admit im worried, i dont want to go back to the UK, my home is here with my wife and daughter.

Saying you should have got a 1 year extension doesnt help, for many reasons lots of us were content to border hop every 90 days.

I just hope immigration sympathize with our situation and offer a solution, as it stands at the moment i have no idea whats going to happen.

you don't have all the necessary documents, if one of the documents they require is a bank statement stating you have 400k ????‍♂️

from what it say on the infographic, you may have an issue
might be wise to go to immigration asap to see what your options are
and it looks like an agent (providing an illegal service) may be your only option
(if borders are not re-opened by Sept 26th)

i think others have stated you can provide the transferwise receipts along with bank book etc. (but i could be wrong)

I do have all the documents for an ME O Visa , not for a 1 year extension but the VISA.  The consulate would issue it so why not immigration, would solve the problem.

  11. i have a non O ME based on marriage and not having 400k in the bank at the moment i pop over to Laos every 90 day.

My visa has now expired and i have already used a 60 day extension.

If the borders and consulates stay closed to us after Sept 26th then im not sure what will happen.

Why dont offices issue o visa themselves if we have all the neccessary documentation ?
