    Shock, horror, disgusting!!!

On the other hand, having been born in a former British colony, and thus knowing how the British treated the local indigenous population, all I can say is - karma can be a bitch sometimes.

Don't you feel that you might just be influenced (subconsciously manipulated) by the news and sources you choose to follow? British history is not all bad you know, and few nations have a squeaky clean past.

Looks like you sold one of them pictured above...what about the other one ?

Yes, the TNT 300 was sold. I had a total of 9 interested parties for that bike, but most were time wasters. I also questioned the motives of some of them. At least half the interested parties seemed more interested in my full home address (not location) than arranging a day and time to view the bike.

The much larger tourer didn't attract much attention. It's a beautiful bike and super comfortable, so I'll going to put it into storage along with my other stuff.

I assume this is in Chiang Mai?? Any similar service that works for countersigned photos near VFS in Bangkok if VFS cannot do it themselves!?

I've had two 10 year passport renewals in Thailand. Never had to deal with countersigned photos. I assume all agencies offer the same service as the application has to go through the same processes.

Tip: Make sure you get passport photos from a shop that does them all the time (ask for recommendations). You hear a lot of stories where the new photos are rejected for incorrect composition, background shade, wrong size, and even slight under or over exposure.

Alternatively, why not use an agent, as I'm sure they can facilitate this for you.

That's what I did. Got the photos from a small shop in Mae Hia (floor above Rimping) for 150 THB. The agencies have all the forms, do all the photocopying, and just point to where you need to sign. That's it! Sit back and relax as you wait for your new 10 year passport to return.

  5. 8 REASONS WHY PLANT FOODS ARE NOT SUPERFOODS

    1. All plants contain many defense chemicals [1]
    2. Plants contain antinutrients [2]
    3. The bioavailability of plant nutrients is very low (it's never mentioned) [3]
    4. Most of today's plant foods never existed in the natural world [4]
    5. Plants have lost much of their nutrient content in the past 50 years [5]
    6. Plants are carbohydrates (the only non-essential macronutrient) [6]
    7. Fruits and veggies are responsible for bloating, gas, and weight gain [7] [8]
    8. Fiber is not essential and could actually be harmful [9]

Therefore, I concur with other posters in that animal-based foods offer the most nutrient dense and bioavailable superfoods for humans. Red meat scaremongering and saturated fat phobia are so wrong, and those who spout such rubbish should be….

Well maybe you could have an online auction  on this here forum with a starting price  at the lowest you will except  which is  probably just a bit more than the  second hand bike dealers  would give you,  most  bike dealers will also buy second hand or except trade in for a new bike   go ask a few how much they would give you in part exchange  then you'll have a base/bottom line price   you'll almost always get a better price selling to a normal private buyer  but it takes time and effort to sell  as you no doubt know by now.

Or as I did  just keep the bikes  though mine are probably worth much less than yours  I'm kinda glad I kept my  2 stroke NSR150   costs very little to keep it legally on the road every year  spend more time fixing it than riding it 😋 🤣

    Thanks, John.

The idea was 35 raffle tickets (give or take) at 1000 THB, but if it's an illegal activity here, then I don't want to risk promoting it. I'd like to keep all three of my bikes, but I have to return to the UK unexpectedly. Ideally, I'll be back next high season, but I can't know for sure. Keeping three bikes and a mountain bike in storage along with a bunch of other stuff can get a tad costly, especially without a guaranteed return date.  I've did research, and price I'm asking is very fair, but it's tough selling a bike right after the high season. Whoever gets it is probably going to get the best looking, Benelli TNT 300 on the road.

It is also gambling and there fore illegal. Maybe if you keep it quiet and try it among friends.

I did wonder, hence the opening line. I don't have 35 friends who would love a Benelli TNT 300, otherwise I would have tried that route first. Never mind, it was just an idea.

    BENELLI BIKE RAFFLE

As my beautiful, custom Benelli is an expensive looking yet inexpensive bike to buy, I was wondering if a good way to sell it would be to hold a raffle. Just 35 tickets at 1000 THB would get my asking price, and the lucky winner would get to ride into the sunset on a stunning motorcycle for less than $30.

    It's just an idea.

Ive got the SAME bike, its been up for sale locally for over a year! I think its one of those bikes that you just buy to keep.

Mine is a 2017 nowhere near the example yours is but it is younger and only 9k km

Cant even get 30 for it.

Yes, I intended to keep it, hence spending money on the extra customizations. I wasn't expecting to head back home in 2025, otherwise I would have settled for one bike in stock condition (I have three).

  10. So far, I've had a total of seven people interested in the bike, five from FB groups, and 2 from Baht Sold (no response from the others in the first list). So it looks as though FB marketplaces get the most eyeballs.

The first question six of the interested parties asked is how much can I reduce the bike by without even viewing it. One buyer dropped out at the last minute, saying it would lose too much value if he decides to sell it on in a few years. I don't blame people asking for discounts, as I also try to negotiate with every bike I buy. I don't always succeed, but I always try. But it's still only a 35K bike, and in pristine condition. Heck, I've probably spent that on upgrades.

It looks as though this beauty might end up in storage until I return.

Just out or curiosity, I'd be interested to know what my fellow bikers think about the price? You can view the details here (scroll down to the second ad):

Well I'm surprised at that  I thought Thailand still imposed tariffs on imported bikes ?   The Japanese manufactures have plants in Thailand so I would have thought cheaper...though I did hear that Suzuki was leaving.

I might be wrong, John, but Benelli Keeway Thailand most probably assembles the bikes here, keeping prices low. Moreover, the new Benelli is a blend of Italian heritage and Chinese ownership. That simply means the design, development, and marketing activities are still under control of Benelli QJ headquarters in Pesaro, Italy.

Thanks, good to hear that there are spares available.

I think some of your trouble selling them  maybe due to the perception of  no one will have spares or the knowledge to work on them + price (Lamborghini )

Honda, Yamaha,Kawasaki and Suzuki  are the favored names.

You're partly right, John. But Benelli is becoming more popular in Thailand now. Benelli is also cheaper than the Japanese bikes, which is one of the main attractions. They're also something different from the usual Honda CBR250s, Kawasaki Ninja 300s and Yamaha YZF-R3.

How are the Benelli's for  parts and servicing ?

There's an Official Benelli showroom and maintenance garage here in Chiang Mai and other parts of Thailand. As the warrantees have expired, I tend to have both my bikes serviced at Piston Shop every 6,000km or 6 months, whichever comes first. Piston Shop is cheaper, and its mechanics have a lot of experience working on popular bikes.

I think original spare parts are ordered from Singapore if they're not in stock locally.

There is also the Buy and Sell Marketplace here on Aseannow.

Thanks. I know there used to be but it closed. I wasn't aware it was back up and running. I'll take a look

Facebook Marketplace is probably the most distrusted site in the country, so many people getting ripped off by them. Craigslist is almost defunct and no one seems to use it. If I was you I would give Kaidee a try,  it is pretty good for cars and miscellaneous items, certainly better coverage than most.

Kaidee | Leading online marketplace platform in Thailand (sorry, I don't know how to paste a link here - just look up Kaidee"

Thanks for that, I'll take a look.

As for Facebook Marketplace, I have heard it can be a tad dodgy for some products and services. However, I have bought three motorcycles from the platform over the past few years, and experience was a positive one. I have heard a few less than positive stories, though, so perhaps I've just been lucky.

  17. Howdy all,

I'm leaving Chiang Mai for a while and have been trying to sell my two beautiful, well-maintained Benelli motorcycles (naked 300 and a TRK 502 tourer). There hasn't been much reaction thus far, so my plan B is to put them into storage until I return. I’ll either try selling them again at the start of next high season or consider part-exchanging them when I upgrade to a new bike.

Before I do that, though, does anyone know of any better places to attract biker's attention in CM other than Facebook Marketplace or Baht & Sold? I've probably covered my bases, but it never hurts to ask, just in case.

    Cheers,

Hi. I sympathize with your situation. In addition to getting a "universal remote control" as you said, the following methods may also work, for reference only.

    1. Search Google images and find the manufacturer of this remote control to negotiate and see if they can give you a new one. You may need to provide the code/serial number of the current machine. This is the easiest and has quality assurance.

    2. Use a 3D printing service to print a back cover. However, you need to have the 3D file of this back cover. If your iPhone has a radar function, you can use some APPs (CANVAS, 3D SCANNER APP, METASCAN) to model it yourself, and then send it to some sellers on Lazada to ask them to complete it for you and print a back cover. This may be the solution that looks closest to the original remote control.

    3. Use electrical tape, the black kind, which is the cheapest. not that good, and it will works for a short time.

    4. Carve one out of bamboo or wood, and be careful not to scratch your hands.

Thanks, Jack. The first thing I did was search Google images, but to no avail. The battery stays in fine with black tape, but the sensitivity of the spare remote is so poor that you almost have to touch the bike to work the alarm. The original could be activated/deactivated from inside the house with all the doors and windows shut.

I've given up on it, and will replace the system with another at some point ;)
