    Interesting, thanks.

Just wondering if I get rid of it with my antibiotics and my wife has it , could I get it again easily?

My former GF had it.  She did the antibiotic regimen described by TANDOR and her symptoms disappeared.  They reappeared 6 or 7 years later and she repeated the regimen successfully.  It's pretty clear many of the food practices in Isan contribute to this condition.

If I were you I wouldn't go to forums like this for medical advice. Go online and search exactly what you posted as your question. You will get EXACTLY what you need, directly. All you get here is hearsay from non experts. That said, I have gotten excellent care at highly rated Phaya Thai hospital, Bangkok, very affordable, and I'm sure they could send you to an excellent specialist. Treatment for Non Hodgkins has been around a long time and I'm sure most everyone is up to speed on it. You can check the credentials of each doctor online. All the best and good luck to you.

This forum has some excellent contributors and there is no reason why a person would not ask such a locally related question here.

Maybe at one time Google was a reliable source but now the lines between information and promotion are blurred beyond the point of reliability.  One searches for any medical topic and the majority of results are thinly veiled infomercials promoting whatever they are paying Google to help them sell.

  3. I was prescribed Lyrica among other meds for nerve pain in my leg similar to sciatica.  The condition went away after a week or two, I have no idea if from the meds or just ran it's course.  I didn't experience any side effects I'm aware of

  4. Both Bolt & Grab base prices on supply/demand algorithms built in.  Lot of people in town, super hot weather, probably unusually high demand.  We'll see what the prices are for the same trip in July.

I'm 80 my PSA was 46 had a biopsy in a Government hospital (Korat)  - Biopsy showed Cancer restricted to prostrate  only. Gleason 3+4

Finish my radiation on friday Varian Halcyon Linac Device - very few side effects - some restriction of urine flow not serious - but more frequent

But my hormone treatment started 6 weeks ago.

Total cost so far about £10K I am impressed with this hospital.

If cost is an issue maybe look for a good Government hospital

Maharaj Govt. Hospital in Korat by chance?  I had excellent treatment there for a staff infection in my foot.  Another hospital wanted to amputate, Maharaj doctors went the extra mile to save it.

  6. I've lived in Jomtien more than 2 years and I can't think of any popular and proper hotel style "Breakfast Buffets" among local restaurants.  Full English seems to be the order of the day at most restaurants and pubs, a source of endless discussion and agitation on local FB forums.  I'm sure some of the more upscale hotels around NaJomtien such as the Movenpick have an impressive breakfast spread as does the venerable Royal Cliff hotel off Pratumnak Hill.

  7. The lowest price progressives I could find in Bangkok: cheap frames and non-brand lenses were B15,000 at a shop in Pratunam 5 years ago.

Vision testing in local shops is not trustworthy as well in that there are no licensing or training standards...any shop employee gives vision tests.

I get my vision tested at Rutnin eye Hospital every 3 years, now about B2000.  If you go, be sure to request a "VISION TEST" and not an "EYE EXAM" as an eye exam is a physical eye examination and usually does not include a vision test or prescription.  Make sure your prescription includes your "pupilary distance" (PD) required for progressive lenses.

As BritMan2 suggested, Zenni Optical (Yes, Chinese and very excellent service and quality) My last pair 3 years ago (plain frame) were less than $80 delivered to Bangkok.

If you are new to progressives, be aware there will be a perhaps week long acclimation period with distorted perspectives but stick with it and your eyes will quickly self-adjust.

Would I be correct in thinking it is Chinese made? If so good luck should it go wrong at any time.

I purchased a Chinese made Hisense 70" TV 3 years ago, B19,000, used daily and never a single issue. Just more mindless ragging on anything Chinese.  No doubt, there is a lot of Chinese garbage out there, a fair amount of garbage from everywhere else as well. A close eye on most products from wherever your home country is will undoubtedly reveal mostly Chinese components.

For sure, I could have paid 75,000+ Baht on a Sony or LG and perhaps better build quality but guess what? Go to their specific forums on the internet and you will find dissatisfied owners as well.

The Atlanta Hotel has a rich history, built in 1952, it has the first swimming pools in Thailand. i had never heard the anti venom story in the wikki. They even had a yacht on the Chaopraya.  The original Art Deco lobby remains unchanged.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Atlanta_Hotel_(Bangkok)#:~:text=History&text=The first owner of The,Company to manufacture snakebite antivenom.

The family is an odd one, after being something of a haven for drug smugglers in the 70s, things took a very moralistic  turn. Even today, while they have lightened up they is still a chance you will be turned away or asked to leave the premises, if they don't like the way you look.

I haven't eaten in the restraunt since before COVID but one page of the meu used to (and still may)  says this:

The clientele is very specific, return visitors, NGO's anyone seeking oasis in the area. The rooms are plain and the pool has seen better days but it is still remarkable.

Sadly the woman who ran the coffee shop passed last year and with her went some of the most wonderful inexpensive Thai food in the area. I used to eat there often, others tried but were unsuccessful.

I have several friends who begin and end their stay in Bangkok at the Atlanta and have been doing so for years. i always take time to spend a day by the pool when they do.

Around 2004, A friend and his Thai wife lived not far from the Atlanta Hotel.  Their apartment was being painted and they needed to vacate for a night so they figured the close-by Atlanta would be a good choice. Even when they explained they were man and wife, they were still flat out refused a room. The clerk demanded they produce a copy of their marriage license.

  10. I sat next to Mr. Trink on the Bangkok to Pattaya bus one day.  He had a large hardcover copy of Salman Rushdie's "Satanic Verses" of which he was to write a review for the Bangkok Post. We chatted a bit about certain Nana Plaza characters we were both familiar with as I had briefly owned a piece of a bar there. He then politely said that he needed to get as much of the book read as possible and buried his nose into his reading.

Though, I do wonder why the OP starts threads revolving round this Dan. There are quite a few now.

So the question must be asked, was the OP jilted, by the said Dan....

    Did Dan do something dastardly.....

Was the OP shunned by Dan.....

Perhaps one day all will be revealed, though I doubt by Dan on a forum of secret squirrels.................................🤭

Well, he did manage to get the dating website name in and spell it correctly.  You know the old saying, "All publicity is good publicity as long as they get the name right."

Agree, early March I waited 2 hours. Then the bus took 2 1/2 hours same as it did in 1997. That was including the stop to fill the tank, I thought they'd stopped that years ago.

The fill-up stop is new and is really annoying.  I suspect the bus company has an interest in the nearly useless food shop.  Adds 25 minutes to the trip.

how did you get around the middle of the country? I've only driven past it and it seems miserable to be honest. I know it's nicer if you get near the western border so maybe that's the fix. Cycling is the north is lovely because we have varied terrain but those flat baron plains, no thanks. A better idea is just to do a loop through the north where you could cover the same amount of distance. Why bother going to BKK and skipping all the other good stuff? You would need to like mountains if you do that though.

Go back and read his last line.😉

  14. I just read a current news item about 24 tons of pork, illegally imported from Brazil, being buried in a deep hole and covered over with soil.  I led me to wondering about what actually happens to that large a mass of meat as it putrefies under ground.  I'm aware, large animals die every day but the carcasses are usually stripped away pretty quickly by scavengers and insects.  Usually nothing but bones in short order.  It's this large a mass of flesh in one place that intrigues me.  Without oxygen just slowly rot? Turn into some kind of putrid liquid?  I would think it would be a threat to water supplies nearby.

    Any knowledgeable thoughts?
