  1. Yes, when you have passed everything and get the PR, you have to be added to a blue tabien baan. This is equivalent to Thai citizens. I was talking about the application phase of the PR, sorry for the confusion.
  2. FWIW I didn't have a tabien been when I applied for PR. Instead, I asked my embassy to issue a Certificate of Residence, which was a letter confirming that I am registered at this address.
  3. Hm, it seems to have been a lonely batch for the coach after all, or consisting only of people who are not in this forum.
  4. I read in this forum that the documents (after being successful) will be sent to the Amphur/Khet where you were registered when you went through the process. A poster reported that there was a delay of weeks (or was it months?) because the documents now had to be reforwarded the the amphur where he lived, and where he had changed his tabien baan back to. The amphur where you are registered at time of getting the Thai ID is the one who needs to be have documents officially sent to them. So, I would think it is wiser to keep the tabien baan in Bangkok - you will have one more trip to do, but you will get the Thai ID faster. Decision is yours, of course, and I am only reporting second-hand.
  5. Yes, that's what they normally do. That's why I asked. Was anybody here in that batch, and how long did it take from sending the documents to MoI until the interview?
  6. Did the interviewers come together for just one applicant, or did they use the opportunity to interview a whole batch? Was anybody here in that batch, and when were your documents moved to the MoI? (I just want to check again how long the waiting period is at the moment from MoI receiving docs until interview.)
  7. They could be checking the latest posts on the ASEAN Now Forum, though.
  8. If all the tech companies were down, you wouldn't have been able to post this. You would not have email or other means of communication with your home country - back to postal services. Yeah, some people would like that.
  9. Facebook is a service where you voluntarily upload all your personal data for the world to see while you are afraid that governments and big tech companies (GAFAM) may have access to your personal data. Facebook is your Big Brother (ref 1984) who you love, and you feed him not only facts but also your feelings, and you are then surprised if he takes advantage of it. How can you live without it?
  10. You mean in the Thai vaccination certificate? I am not aware of any country accepting it; you may want to get the yellow book with the WHO logo in which you have all your international vaccinations (just as yellow fever, smallpox etc). According to what I was told, it will be issued here: 1. International Communicable Disease Control Suvarnabhumi Airport 2. Travel Clinic, Bamrasnaradura Infectious Disease Institute, phone 02-951-1170-9 ext 3430 3. Urban Institute for Disease Prevention and Control, phone 02-521-1668 No guarantees.
  11. I'm surprised about this. When I changed by accounts from passport to pink ID, I did that at one branch and they sent the docs to HQ to change at all the other branches.
  12. I wasn't hallucinating. There is no new law (yet) but there is discussion about it: Caution urged for relaxing laws on foreigners owning land in Thailand - Thailand News - ASEAN NOW - News, Travel & Forum
  13. Interesting. Do you know when was the last batch that got an MOI interview? I mean in terms of 1.) When were the documents handed over to MOI and 2.) When did that interview take place? Reasons I ask: a.) I want too see whether 18 months was still a good estimate then. b.) Of course, when they re-start the interviews, they have have a backlog so it will take longer. The longer it has been since the last interview, the bigger the backlog. TIA
  14. No, that would be the Amity Act. I read that something had changed this year. I just did a quick google search and could not find that. Seems to have been one of those rumours we just want to be true but aren't. Sorry for the confusion.
  15. I see. They haven't reached their 18 months yet. The documents must mature, like a good wine. ????
  16. I believe they changed a law and now foreigners can own up to 1 rai of land if they inherited it (from example from their wife). I'm not a legal expert, so you might want to double-check this. In the unlikely event that you lose your Thai nationality, you might want to check if that law applies somehow also to you too.
  17. There is no delay. If I get the MOI interview next month, I would be exactly on schedule: 18 months after documents were submitted to MOI. Realistically, I expect it to be a few months later according to what I read here. Nothing to worry about. I am planning to call MOI to ask for status if I haven't heard from them by November. I'm not in a hurry: I'm not going anywhere. ;-)
  18. Mine starts with an 8, I am not a Thai citizen (yet). I have PR, and this number was assigned when I was included in the blue tabienban of the house I live in.
  19. Don't know about BOI, but my WP was renewed in BKK a month ago and still is a blue book.
  20. That's also possible in my case: I don't remember exactly whether they confirmed that the translator is licenced or whether it was only a "seen at..." stamp.
  21. If I recall correctly, the embassy put a stamp on the translation. They basically confirmed that the translator is an officially licenced translator, implying that the translation is assumed to be correct. Otherwise, how can the MoFA be sure that the translation is correct? They would have to translate everything again and compare their translation with that of the commercial translator.
  22. Whether that's lengthy or not depends on your point of view. I am not married and had to get PR first: 3 years on the same WP until application for PR, 6 years from applying to getting PR, waiting until the PR was 5 years old = 14 years before I could apply for citizenship. I expect it to take another 4-5 years until I have my Thai ID in hand. ????
