Your birthdate for Age Pension Age Date to claim
1 January 1954 to 30 June 1955 66 years old
1 July 1955 to 31 December 1956 66 years and 6 months old
On or after 1 January 1957 67 years old
Australian Working Life Residence (AWLR). A person is able to continue receiving the full amount overseas that they are eligible for within Australia if they have an AWLR of 35 years of more.
It's not calculated by how many years tax has been paid.
It's calculated by years a citizen was in Australia from 16th birthday.
The applicant must have the classification of 'resident' to be able to apply, and must physically be in Australia on the date of lodging the application.
For people born outside of Australia these rules can be a bit different especially if the person lived in another country and then migrated to Australia and that person is entitled to some form of pension/allowance from the other country. See the Centrelink website for more details.
Centrelink has a permanent live link to Australian Immigration which means they have an ongoing continuously building file on your movements every time you leave and return to Australia but they don't know where you go when your out of Australia.
If you achieve 'portability' they will pay you the full basic pension and they will transfer the funds to a bank outside of Australia every 4 weeks (every second fortnight). But you don't receive other allowances like the electricity allowance. The bank account you nominate outside of Australia can be an account in your name or it can be a joint account, you and another person.
Can you get the payment payed into a transferwise account or does it have to be a bank account?.

My wife is currently over here on a tourist visa and her visa runs out 4th may, It is multi entry as she was granted 3 years.
She has no way of leaving before that date as we cannot get a flight out now, What are her visa options to stay longer, I have read all the information on the immigration website seems they are leading her to apply for another tourist visa and $365 in their pockets seems a tad unfair to me.
is there another visa she can do? i know partner visa but funds are tight right now and only just over 4 weeks until her visa runs out time is short.
kind regards for any help. nev

Better to call it all off and start again all null and void, and in August if the virus is tamed ßtart a new season by then.

free tourist visa 365 days for every farang ? lol
Now your talking Pattaya would certainly see a increase but the banks withholding 800,000 would be hit big-time.

And I know many with degrees who can only find work in a 7/11 or in a shop in central.
Plus I know farmers and builders making a good living too.

Jomtien was nice to stay in. Nice restaurants and loved the walk on the beach road at night. Also nice that it's easy to use a baht bus to go to the shopping mall or cinema, for example. Having access to a large swimming pool as part of the condo I rented was cherry on top. I love swimming every day and it keeps one healthy.
Currently living in the sticks, but I am planning to buy a nice sea view condo there in the coming years. Perhaps once I've sold my apartment in The Netherlands, since I feel I don't need to go back there in the future.
YMMV.
Just make sure you buy a condo in your name, My mate even with all of us telling him to put in his name, And even on the day of signing the contract and my mate next to him and solicitor there advising him to put in his name, Did the stupidist thing and signed over to her.
He regrets it big time now as they are separating and even though when they sell she says she will give him half, Well I don't really have to tell you the rest of the story mate.

I wonder if it's just my impression or more.... but how often these days does anyone hear Thais themselves talking about "sanuk". And I don't just mean Pattaya, but in general.
It would seem those in charge have replaced "sanuk" with weary, dreary, and leery for the average Thai...
Many years ago before the mobile phone age of Pattaya it was Sanuk Mak Maak, The girls really enjoyed themselves and partied and looked after customers well.
Now and I am not just on about the girls everyone sits around staring at their phone, It's a sad indictment of society in a whole.
As for the Thais I know up in Khonkaen they still make trips from our village and quiet enjoy the new deserted Pattaya as they are on family holidays.
Maybe that is what the real Thais want.

Well many expats I know have sold up and gone back home, Others have moved to more welcoming countries like Vietnam or Cambodia.
Others like me moved to Isaan and live a great life up there but still have to jump through hoops to stay here.
My last few visits to Pattaya I can see no comparison to the place I first fell in love with 20 years ago.

my ex made sure I had no claim on 2 houses I helped pay for (million stolen) + stole hundreds of thousands of baht just before divorce, but this guy goes on a rampage for 50k ?
There is more to it than just 50,000baht.
Sorry about you loss i have heard many simular stories off other farang while living up in issan for the past 8 years.
None of those went out shooting and killing innocent people.

I wonder how many other soldiers are serving in the Thai army who have the same disillusioned state of mind as the perpetrator and who might act it out in the same way if and when triggered.
The stark contrast between the official image of the army (reinforced by brainwashing starting in school) and the less than honorable reality sure doesn't help.
Spoke to soon.

Hypothosis.
Indeed it is!, And it will take many many more Hypothosis to come up with any rational reason why he did this.

I believe he had pre planned all this and mulled over what he will do if they refuse to pay up this time.
Once he had shot them both he knew he was a dead man walking, And rather than finish it there and then with a bullet to his head decided to go out and kill as many as he could.
He was not mental or unstable he is a cold blooded trained killer.
