Tuk tuk drivers in Phuket do have a reputation for rip off behaviour so it is very conceivable the Brit was scammed. If so, I can understand his reaction. I agree with an earlier comment whereby the video does pick up on a smirk from the driver as if to say “gotcha!!” Now he’s in the frame for financial compensation for being the victim. Only two people know the truth of what happened and one of them is a liar.
The Swiss Dave incident has potentially opened up a whole new opportunity for scams of this nature. Not that I believe Dave was scammed but the outcries from his behaviour have got the tills ka-chinging all over the place.- 1

Surely UK police checks would not allow this to move past first base.

I can remember when quite a few, Thaivisa commenters, were cheering for Big Joke, I wonder what they think now... they seem very quiet or changed their opinion.
Even now I’m not convinced. I do believe there is an even chance that he’s been set up to stop all his meddling and investigations into police corruption. One is as likely as the other.

Moral of the story? Don't help any dumb arse that gets his car stuck in the sand.
Actually not very good reporting in this story
An, almost non story with very little newsworthy content at all.

Not a good idea. Ukraine already has too many of these thugs that they have to deal with. Lock him up for 5 years then <deleted> him off.

And there is very little attempt to hide it. Just shows the utter contempt they have and their extreme confidence that nothing will come of it.

I suspect that there will be a lot of dirty laundry aired by the time this little spat is over.

So long as the lessee is held accountable for any breach within their responsibility then this may save lives. Otherwise they are pi$$ing in the wind.

The government holds no power over the military. They have the bigger pistola. Any commitment for military reform would need to come from within. Government threats would not worry them one iota.

Be interesting to see if these high ranking officers who have been suspended start to sing as I’m sure between them they have over the years collected enough details of corruption to bring others down and I include politicians in this. Just because they call him big joke I’m sure he has enough tact to bring others down and end there careers !
And for this reason it will fizzle out and the game will continue.

Just wondering what the roles of two sergeants were. Seems a strange mix alongside a general and two colonels.

Hopefully, with Songkran in the rear view mirror, the big rains are due and everyone will get an eight month reprieve.
Bring it on.- 1

Quite likely. Most government positions have a price tag on them. Even entry level positions come with a fairly hefty price amounting to well over a year’s salary.
There’d be some serious dosh up for a Governor position (x77 provinces)- 3
