You could try sending a PM to George or whoever runs this site and ask them.
Since you're planning on giving actual cash money to thaivisa, you might get a useful response.

Just the price of the crude oil in a liter of gasoline costs 20 baht/liter wholesale.
The countries that sell really cheap gasoline to their population are big oil exporters (Saudi etc), while Thailand is a net importer of oil.

Thanks for the advice, some very helpful comments. I will post a follow-up comment after my trip.

I'm going to Laos in a few days to get a Double Entry Tourist Visa - at least, I hope I will get it. I have 1 previous double entry tourist visa from Vientiane in my passport, 1 single entry tourist visa from Penang, and some visa exempt stamps.
In the past, I have just presented my passport with the application, and received my visa without any difficulty. But maybe things are different now in the light of the crackdown on visas. Am I suppposed to bring things such as bank statements, large amounts of cash (20,000 baht) etc to support my application? Or is it likely that I will just be given the visa anyway?

Increase in beer prices..

VAT is a regressive tax.
There is no chance of it being raised right now - poor Thais would riot if it went up to 20%.
Chotthee is completely wrong - rich Thais invest most of their money, they don't spend it at the 7/11.

In addition, the police have seized all the elephants to prevent them from harming other tourists.
Breaking News:
Angry elephants destroy Chiang Rai jail - hundreds of prisoners escape in the confusion.

All the elephants have been seized?
I'd like to see the charges

Patcharapong plunged into hot water after some members of the school's marching band decided to camp out overnight at Ichitan Group chairman Tan Passakornnatee's business premises to pressure him into lending them Bt3.1 million so they could participate in a contest in the Netherlands. The band apparently spent the entire sum on the trip.
If Patcharapong wants his old job back, he should repay the "loan" himself.
For bonus karma, he should work a minimum-wage job full-time to earn the money. Let's see - Bt3.1 Million divided by 10,000 Baht a month ...
He would need to work for 26 years to pay back Khun Ichitan

Fun Tok!
Finally, some rain in Kamala after 3 months. A few rumbles of thunder too.

As I corrected my post after you replied. I am glad no one was injured and unless proven otherwise I have no doubt at all this was the workings of the PDRC. Now you try to get a UDD supporter to say that when a PDRC protester is bombed.
Well said. It was probably the PDRC behind this.
When Suthep's house was attacked with grenades, several red posters decided that it was a conspiracy, and that Suthep had attacked his own house to get sympathy.
It appears that non-reds don't believe in those kind of conspiracy theories and fairy tales.

Thank you Patrick!
So, you would be fine if your wife/gf/daughter got in a cab and the driver talked dirty to her and tried to cop a feel. Good to know, I'm sure your female relatives will be delighted by that attitude too. Feel free to flame me but I am more disgusted and dismayed by the attitudes abounding on this forum than I have been in a very long time. Thailand, the land of the expat misogynist!
Samantha
Hmmmm - I guess you are not a Native Speaker of English.
However, please take time to read and understand the Posts on here before you blunder into, and try to take part in, a discussion.
Patrick
Well done for making that point. It's disgraceful how people are throwing accusations around on this forum.

Another one.
Explosives thrown at Politically affiliated PAD-Dems's, in this case calling themselves the PDRC.
And again, no-one injured.
I abhor and condemn these things when there are injuries or worse.
But also recognize the phoney attempt to both create havoc, and by virtue of who this is directed at, endeavour to create accusations against the pro-democracy forces.
Cheapy attempts at mayhem with no consequence, yet seeking to point the finger. The repetition and intent must be obvious to all.
And here comes Fryslan boppe. Let me translate for you:
Blah blah blah ... waffle waffle waffle ... drone drone drone ... I'm gonna make everyone fall asleep ....
Therefore .... Suthep was trying to blow up his own house with grenades.

Who knows who and if anybody did what... anybody here...? naw Didn't think so.. we will never know who did what to whom...LOL but fun to read all the pointy fingers... anything for the cause eh?
Well, I think we can risk an educated guess that Suthep isn't attacking his own home with grenades.
Why don't you just come out and say "Yep, that one might have been the redshirts". You would get a lot more respect if you tried to be a little more neutral. Why do you want to be on the list of "people who only make pro-red posts on thaivisa"?
It's a pity because you sometimes have some interesting points to make.

Rather disgusted by the many facetious and flippant comments on this Thread.
As one more sensible Poster commented - how would you feel if it was your own daughter in this situation?
Patrick
Absolutely Patrick.
Once again, the investigative reporters at "Coconuts Bangkok" newspaper have found a story which strikes at the very heart of Thai morality and values.
This is the story of the year, and it totally justifies the Pulitzer Prize that it will surely win.
Bravo Coconuts Bangkok. And Bravo Patrick - there is nothing funny about dirty old taxi drivers that talk nasty. You stand alone as our moral defender, and for that I salute you.

The footage, which was apparently taken without the flight attendant′s knowledge, is currently being circulated on a number of websites.
I can't find the damn footage anywhere! Naturally, I just want to verify that the story is correct because I am deeply shocked at the revelations.

So far on this thread TV members have convicted the driver without anyone on here actually knowing the facts or hearing any evidence but there again he has already paid the Police off to get a lesser charge, again there is no evidence to support this claim
Thai Visa at it's very best
The bus driver killed 15 people, and fled the scene, hiding out for 3 days before handing himself in. He did not have a license.
Those are some of the most important facts. Can you think of any new facts which could somehow make the driver seem innocent?
We have enough madness on the roads of Thailand without trying to imagine excuses for someone who killed 15 - in a bus he should never have been driving.

Why is it the police have to wait for an accident to charge these drivers. If they'ed only get off there ass and charge all the rest of the idiot bus and mini van drivers.
Charge people before they have committed a crime? With what exactly?
Have you received a Darwin Award lately?
What crime could these innocent drivers be charged with? Driving drunk, driving while high, driving without a license, driving an unroadworthy vehicle .......
Only two ways to catch them.
1) Set up a police checkpoint and run proper tests
2) Wait for a fatal accident
Are you in favor of waiting for accident deaths?

Thailand leads Hong Kong 2-1 after Pruchya Isarow and Nuttanon Kadchapanan defeat Phillip King and Chun Hun Wong 64 62 62
Thailand and Hong Kong are tied at 1-1 after Day 1. King (HKG) d. Sornbutnark 62 76(2) 63 and Trongcharoenchaikul (THA) d. Kolev 64 75 75I'm not sure the rankings are too important - how many nations in the world have 3 highly ranked players (I'm guessing zero)?
A chance to watch a Thai national sports team beat one of their rivals - what's not to like?

2005 was nothing compared to 1972.

Don't get me wrong, I think its an interesting question, and I've voted in your poll.
I have a website myself - its a five minute job to pull down visitor stats from Google Analytics. That was the point I wanted to make.
You are getting some good feedback in this thread anyway, so mission accomplished
