It's not difficult to avoid the trash areas. Leave the country over a water festival and comparing it to a garbage Yank movie is a bit of hyperbole.
Have a nice journey, snowflakes.

Back on to that subject, mainly because I was nearly wiped out (again) by one of these idiots deciding to weave in and out of the traffic as it was grinding to a halt and he decided he would negotiate the spaces at high speed.
A friend has told me of an incident a couple of nights ago, at around 2:30 AM, just past the junction of Soi Banzaan and the new middle road where one of these idiots wiped out a pedestrian, who seems to have been badly injured with a bone poking out of his leg, before speeding off without stopping to help.
Surely it wouldn't be too hard for the BIB to do some sort of patrol at the South end of Nanai where these black/brown Frenchies reside, because as sure as eggs are eggs, they would nab just about all of them for driving without a crash helmet, and I would suspect that finding drugs would not be out of the ordinary, not to mention drinking and driving.
But then since when have we ever relied upon the BIB to do anything other than collect tea money!
Could you please post a Google map location, so we can avoid that area like the black plague?

Yes, you will love the Bangkok beaches.
What exact brochure are you getting your information from?

Yet you said zero positivity about Thailand and just crapped on a whole lot of negativity. So glad you left your baggage behind.
Yes, no baggage. Left her at home while I was speeding away in a cab with a business class ticket to a better place.

I had an horrific motorcycle accident @ 36 in Oz. Coma for 2 weeks, brain injury ward for 3 months followed by years of rehab.
My family live around 150km’s away from where I live in Melbourne CBD. I lost 2 lifelong friends tragically, 1 to cancer, 1 in a tragic accident.
I was an A Grade construction sparky on great money and perks and work was my life. Saturdays & Sundays were just another day of the week for me.
I also worked the doors of bars & clubs for 17 years.
Since my accident I lost my first love, my job. I lost my second love & sanctuary of hours spent in the gym. I then lost my third love, my filo fiancée of 7 years.
I have been in & out of Thailand 6-8 times a year since becoming mobile again so it actually works out cheaper to rent a condo and move full time.
The cost of living plays a huge part. I can get by on 250thb a day for food most days, water & electric is lower than back home and I can head out for a beer and a good old chin wag for under 500thb for quite a few hours of entertainment.
Although I don’t indulge too regularly the availablity of a slim, warm body without having to go trough the mating dance of dinner, movies and riveting conversation is a deciding factor.
I love the thai lifestyle, food, demeanour, happiness etc. many people seem to have a very different view of the ‘Thai smile’ of recent times but I’ve never experienced any real issue myself.
Australia is ruled by minorities, snow flakes and corrupt hierarchy these days. Immigrant crime is escalating on a large scale. The roads and traffic are awful and the cost of living is far outstripping the rate of inflation.
I could easily survive on my dividends & cash reserves in Australia but for me the fun & excitement has been sucked out of everyday life and replaced by mortgage stress, job losses, bad attitudes & entitlement.
My body needs warm weather to function now, my head needs time to repair. So at 40 I’ve rented a nice condo, sold my worldly possessions and starting my second chance and second half of my life somewhere I wake up everyday with a smile.
Does your gear still function?

Depends on their bank account obviously.

No -- I just posted a view of the ocean at Pt. Reyes National Seashore near where I used to live in California.
But at least you get ocean views in California. Where in Thailand do you get an ocean view -- not a Gulf or Sea view -- from a condo or anywhere else?
Yes, you posted a stock photo not taken by you. The normal views of the Sea are not so bad around here...
To answer your question, views of the Indian Ocean can be seen from just south of Phuket.
Nice work.

If people want to say negative stuff go start your own topic.
Far too much negativity.
I agree, too much negativity and rules of conduct.

Just read this entire thread and still laughing about the 'get a new passport' advice.
Thinking an unused passport would magically erase a Foreigner's exit/entry history. Priceless humour.

Fruit and vegetables are sprayed with toxic chemicals and should be washed thoroughly, something I doubt street vendors and restaurants do.
Good advice, also add a bit of vinegar to the water bowl filled with water to wash the items as it helps detoxify the vegetables/fruit.

The emotion options are there to keep posters from thinking they are more interesting than they really are
If the post is boring dribble= more emoticons will appear.
If the post provides merit or entertainment, comments seem to arise like a phoenix from the ashes.
No reason to eliminate the emoticons, they provide a lazy reply with minimal effort. Not so different than my classmates.

I'm dutch mate and for sure they all speak english, probably also german or maybe even french. Also we all can swim.
The police uses loads of translators for other languages, have loads of helicopters, rescueboats, new firetrucks and everything you can expect from a well developed country. Holland is no1 in speaking english as foreign language, all kids learn it at scool.
Impossible that the entire country can swim. Quadruple amputees are just one example.
