  1. But not property connected to land, only to a condo block reception !
  2. Sorry but a lot of what I see and have experienced it is of their own making and I feel absolutely no sympathy for them whatsoever. I have been stuck in a bed and breakfast in Blackpool for the last 16 months - my own house is rented out and I my tenant a great guy so getting back to Thailand and leaving him there is worth this cess pit for a while. Now, when covid first started the two bed and breakfasts either side of mine took in about 40 homeless, ranging I guess from 20 to 70. Our own landlord refused as he knew what was coming. Within a day, the police vans were arriving every 6 hours or so, there'd be something 4 or 5 of them in the street daily. The homeless people they moved in were continually drunk, on drugs, smoking weed, dancing in the street, fighting themselves and the neighboring hotel owners, continually shouting abuse, thieving, one even shooting seagulls with a gun (I could actually accept that), they had showers and access to washing machines but did nothing to improve themselves. Within 2 months all but 2 of them had been kicked out - well, asbo and banned from B& B would be more accurate. There was one guy that had been homeless and too the opportunity to turn his life around and eventually moved into our B&B. And he hated these people more than most. My point is that 95% up of the people moved in were put straight back out on the streets in weeks. Homelessness in the UK most of the time is a lifestyle choice for these gutter type of people - NOT the same I would say as those homeless in Thailand that want work and house and a life but have lost it due to the pandemic
  3. I think even those calling some of US doom-mongers find this bull hard to believe
  4. You cannot stay closed forever. Thailand's economy is decimated. Vaccinate all you can to the end of the year and open up fully. I'm stuck away from the family 16 months but still say wait a little longer , vaccinate what you can and open fully Jan 1.
  5. One thing for sure is that it will be hard to put a positive spin on the Generals complete failures during this crisis and nothing they do now will be able to raise their hopes of being voted in next time. I would not be surprised to see some more opposition parties banned and more senators pre-appointed before next election to ensure that this massive stain on their reign makes no difference to the end results
  6. The value of your fixed assets only decrease if your intention is to sell them and move back to the UK, Otherwise it makes no difference to you whatsoever, in fact if your fixed assets are housing, you could probably increase your property value as the pound increases.
  7. Finding it hard to think of a good reason as to why this is not a bad thing
  8. Wait till the new term and parents start refusing to pay the schooling fees due the schools not being open.
  9. Personally I think that number is about 200,000 plus over reality. 10-15k to Phuket in July only and with the pandemic running riot now due to bad management, I cannot see more than 10-15k a month moving forwards. Open up fully to ALL vaccinated people showing an app at boarding or check in and run with it. Anything more and its a waste of time and a failure
  10. This to me is always where I feel uncomfortable with religious afterlife talk. Do second husbands get in punch ups with first husbands. Is the wife shared ? I really do not think I could spend the eternal afterlife looking at the man that had been porking my wife when I was dead !
  11. Sure there will be a positive TAT spin on it later
  12. Chok Chai 1, round the corner from Khao Talo.
  13. My wife when starting out in her teaching career decided to buy land and grow fruit - I could walk around her fruit and vegetables and rubber all morning and not pass the same tree. Worst case scenario for her she goes home with our daughter and lives off the land. So, yes, she is smarter than a lot of westerners and wont need to hoard anything.
  14. Sounds like a great place to book a holiday to. Expect the tourist incoming figures to drop even more now those coming back to family have returned. But I dare say there will be a picture of some fat woman from Israel or somewhere at a totally abandoned pool
  15. We can but hope that the Health Ministry have been lent a member of the TAT to do the figures and they are as widely overestimated as usual.
  16. Let's hope the 67,000,000 population spend their £9.80 each wisely
  17. They are hot and worth every baht... Reminds me I need to buy a water melon
  18. What's your escape plan ? If is goes bits up later in Thailand, where do you go and stay with just your £9ooo UK state pension ? It might sound daft, but I see too many people living on just a uk state pension as they blew their money and now cannot go home. Myself, with your money, I'd buy a UK house and rent it out. Thereby giving you an escape route and better income. Live off the house, your pension and use an agent if required until you save 800,000 which you could do easy in a few years
  19. Agreed. I remember someone complaining that they were being billed a huge amount as their chair with wheels on it had had scratched the wooden flooring. To them it was wear and tear, to the owner the floor was ruined due to scratching.
  20. Funny that some of us are called doom mongers when we have been saying that the TAT's predictions will be highly over inflated and less accurate than a cheap carnival fortune teller. We don't relish in being right, we'd love to be wrong and life return to normal.
  21. I imagine Thailand's answer will be invite more Chinese tourists and give them a condo buying discount !
