I was leaving Maesai about 9pm,I had visited a girlfriend and had sat with her and her father,we drank a couple of Chang beers and a little local whiskey, this was over a few hours where we talking fishing,as the guy is a bit of local expert. I said my goodbyes, jumped on my motorbike and started my journey home, which is about 30 mins,on the highway I crossed over and popped into 7-11 for a snack and a juice before I stared home,I came out drove up the road to the u turn, this is where I wa stopped by two guys who flagged me down.i duly pulled over and stopped the bike, another guy came from the truck and joined the other two, they were armed but not in police uniform.
They asked where I was going where I had Been etc etc, then can we see your passport,no I replied I don't have it on me or I copy,ok please accompany us to the office,I was put in the back of the truck and of we went. I was sat at a desk where an officer asked details of passport and visa, home what I had been doing in Maesai, did I know how serious this was and on and on. At this point I asked if I had been arrested and was told yes.
I asked if I could phone my girlfriend to substantiate what I had been doing,No but he would do it,a short while later Prem walked in and sat with us,they spoke. I them came up with the bright ideal of asking a neighbour to bring my passport to us,Prem did all the talking on the phone, two hours have now passed.
Ok he said you are going to be charged with,no crash helmet,I wasn't wearing it but it was on the bike, driving the wrong way up the highway, and using a UK driving licence, nothing was said concerning the Passport. At this point the officer in charge arrived, not a pleasant man, after a short while he said I could go but I have to return at 11 am Moday morning, the officer who had been questioning me also told me he wanted 1800 baht or I would be deported for using a UK licence, yes sure I need to go to the Atm,but nothing else was said.luckily Prem had her bike so she could take me back to mine, the whole episode was over two and a half hours, plus I have to go back on Monday.
During all of the questioning another officer had accessed my information on the computer,on the 5th June my daughter and myself had been to immigration and applied for a 60 day extension, they had the sheets with our photograph on it,so it was obvious I had a current passport and a current visa. I still have to go back on Monday with my Passort,I have a feeling it's going to cost me. The three guys that picked me up were ok,I even scrounged a cigerate from one of them and we went outside for a smoke, when we left we shook hands, the officer in charge when I offered my hand it was declined.
When they asked me back on Monday they also said not to bring the passport at that time,so my neighbour was telephoned and told not to come.
I will update on Monday when I have made the other visit.

Hi guys,my Non O is up on June 7th,due to issues i was going to apply for a 60 extension for visiting my daughter, have i left it to late to apply ? i didn’t realise that there might be a date by which this must be done providing it was done before the end of the visa,i was planning to go this Friday.I read today 30 days before, shocked me to the core,if so iam screwed.
-
Thanks ubonjoe,i have the blue book in front of me i was waiting for someone to come home to translate it for me,the last entry date matches her birth date so i reckon its her and just so i get the form right, the arrived by,port of arrival section is when i arrived in Thailand [not by motor bike to the office haha].
-
I have my yellow house book, but my daughter is not in the blue house book,i take it i need to get this updated. ?
-
Many thanks ubonjoe, just one more thing,in all the years i have been here i have never been to a immigration office,i have always had Non O multiple entry visa with its 90 day visa runs,so what is the procedure for my trip to immigration, other than what is in your post.
-
ubonjoe you are most right about the solicitor but on the day in question they were not being very helpful and i gave up,saying that i didn’t talk to the solicitor, which in hindsight was the correct course of action, i let that slip after the visit to the prison office. My last 90 days is up so i need a new visa,is it possible to get a Non O single entry from Savannakhet based on taking care of my daughter ?
-
Visits are non contact,i asked in the office and got told it was not possible for her to sign, even through a solicitor its not possible,so its not a case of her not being willing which she is,its the prison rules, regardless of the outcome.

My Non O visa is due for renewal in June,I am married to a Thai and have a two year old daughter, unfortunately my wife is in prison and will be when i need to renew,i am currently taking care of my daughter on my own,i intend to stay with her and my daughter when she is released. The problem arises in the fact i can’t get her to sign the copy of her id and house book so my options appear to be limited if i have any at all,any advice concerning my visa options ?

Hi,anyone have experience of using Foggers or Misters to control temps,i have a 10m x 5m side open tunnel with a poly roof,i am trying white bug mesh over the top of this as well,i just wondered if they are effective in this situation.
-
DWC is Deep Water Culture, the extra water can help stabilise the system in regards of PH,nutrients and water temp, last hot season the water temps for me got up to 32c which is struggle to maintain optimum growth, with this coming hot season the tanks are being moved under the house as its always cooler by a considerable margin. The media beds can be radiators, but taking on heat wheres as DWCs with the surface covered in poly floats you have insulation as such, with pipe work covered, water and air and the fish tanks in a suitable fish house you stand a chance of keep water temps at a reasonable level.

Hi tmaker,
1. Remove solids the and remineralise them offline, decant the clear water after turning off the air and add it back into the system, this reduces the oxygen demand on your media beds.
2. Treat the wood against termites but make sure you keep the wood away from the water, you don’t want anything leaching back into the water,or use concrete.
3. Instead of the blue barrels you could use the black bins the Thais use to mix cement in.
4.It is very difficult to make an income from aquaponics, your initial outlay is high, running cost have to be taken into account and it is difficult to get more money than the local Thai produce.I can sell everything i grow but i can’t charge much more than the local produce,we are going to start selling Tilapia with a pick your own, that way i reduce wastage and the shopper gets a much fresher product.
5.Instead of media why not look at DWC instead, works well for AP,i am in the process of changing over to all DWC.
Anything i can do to help fire away, one good source of information is on the site Backyard Aquaponics,if you look in the Members systems we are Crappy Basil Growers are Us,Andreas Garden.

In case the father of mother requests to be under maintenance of children, the age of father or mother must be 50 years of age or over.
When you reach 50 you might not need any money in the bank.
look at the last line in my post above.
Not very clear and yet to be tested.
I am 59,married but living and taking care of my two year old daughter on my own,my Non O is up in March is it worth trying this route ?

Fapington, sorry its been a while but i have been following your progress with great interest, excellent videos and a fantastic project, looking forward to your progress in the new year,Happy new year..

Hi Rice555, I hung the yellow card with vaseline and caught a few straight away, anyway i was in Chaing Rai this afternoon and stumbled across a farm shop stocking some Hydro kit, they had a small hydro unit working outside[the clue],so i popped in for a look at what they had. Going down through the shelfs i found basically bug glue looked interesting, then i found the fly traps and attractant so i bought one at 99 baht and a small bottle of fly attractant its only 10ml but you only use three drops every three weeks, this was 120 baht.
I have set it up and hung it in the garden in between the Tomatoes,i kid you not i was gone for a few minutes and there was half a dozen flies in it,so maybe it works i need to trial it over a longer period but if i can save a few Tomatoes it is worth it.
By the time i finished messing about down there it was to late to photograph it, but i will in the morning and post it.
Could you please tell me where in Chiang Rai you found hydro stuff.
I would be coming from the Measai direction, carry straight on towards the bus station on the main highway, now before the bus station there is a major junction,as you go through this on the right hand side there is a row of shops second or third one along is a shop that sells hydro nutes, foam cubes, pot etc, they carry quite a lot of stuff some useful,I found magnessium sulphate here at 20 baht a kilo, they even sell mushroom mycelium, the oyster jars are 10 baht,I found that two jars did 10 more jars grain to grain and at that price it just ain't worth the hassle of doing it yourself.
I have found another shop that are selling NFT kits the day I went they had a small set up running out side but they were shut,I couldn't be bothered to hang around and as yet I haven't been back, this shop is on the way to Meachan on the right hand side,I am passing tomorrow and will get better directions in case your intersted.

I am married to a Thai and have a daughter,my previous Non O Visas were from Hull, my last i received from Savanakhet recently, question,as the rules are changing and seem to be getting tougher and tougher,I don’t have income of 40,000 or the required amount in my Thai Bank, apart from the obvious,You will have to go home what are likely to be my options if i want to stay. I would love to upgrade to the marriage visa but i won’t make the money requirement, although i have the year left its still playing on my mind.

Yes but for some reason I can only see them on the Chinese mustard,I had one Tomatoe seedling left over when I planted the beds so I just plonked it in an empty hole in the raft, this to has thrips damage, the brown marks over the leaves, curling and the leafs stems beginning to die back. I have posted some pics on your thread in BYAP.
It's the amount I have in the beds, don't know which way to approach it,they have wiped out the Tomatoes,I feel this hot spell didn't help much either, the Aubergines have Thrips damage to the leaves but they are strong plants fruiting well, the celery is being attacked so is the one mustard that just appeared, that thing is getting hammered. Chillies and Basil untouched.
I did see on the net that Mosquito dunks will clear them but from I can see there not available.

tangmojo many thanks for the kind words,as for Uniseals the only way I was get them was by importing them,so I just used everything that is available to me locally,I'm doing well lots and lots of leg work but my list of I would like is getting shorter.
The bulkhead fittings and all of the Thai fittings and pipe work although so not ideal all do the job well.
I have a little more work to complete then I will post some more pics...Many thanks guys.

Ryan I read your post in another thread concerning your Tomatoes,I have suffered the same fate,I have cut and burnt the lot. Now check your beds if like me you could well find you are infested with larvae just on the water line,in my Tom beds it is full of the little fxxxkers just waiting for the next batch of plants. I am really glad I read your post as now I can put be sure of what happened, problem now is how to get these little shits out of the beds.
On the googly thing several sites say that Mosquito dunks will do the job, also I believe Dipel neither available here in Thailand and this considering they used Several of these products during the flood clean up.Really don't know the next step as even if I stripped and cleaned everything they will just come back.

The information written on obtaining a Thai driving say you need a certified translation of your licence by your embassy, does it have to be done by them ?
