  1. Does anyone know of a video cam suited to be mounted on a bike ?

Where can i buy one in Pattaya ?

I've decided to from now on record every time i drive

There are cameras quite cheap these days. Ive seen them advertised in stores like good guys etc here in Australia in like camera sections. Wouldnt be hard to find in Thailand. Try central Pattaya. Plenty of camera stores there. Or ebay would for sure.
  2. So there ARE traffic laws in Thailand!1 I think they must change everyday!!!

The same laws as are used in Australia, Britain and New Zealand, the difference is in each of the affore mentioned countries the law is strictly enforced, here in Los its up to the interpretation of the individual officer, which in essence means Thailand has thousands of traffic laws all operating at the same time.

    Sent from my GT-I9003

I would love to hear how it went if you took it to court.

You would probably set a precident for all others that have been wrongly ticketed by a thai cop.(that probably pocketed the cash)

OP you could become like a legend in falang history!

I say go for it, take it to court, Im cheering you on. If you do, make sure you let me know what happened.

  3. sadly Poanoi you chose the wrong forum to ask on, most of the posters on here are just here to ridicule or have a superior attitude rather than just give a sensible answer,

It would appear here that there is no option to go to court, most people just pay the fine, it seems the simplest way, of course it does not fix the problem, it allows the problems to carry on, you seem to have no redress with motoring offences.

Yes, it was a 50/50 to post in bike or general forum,

since there isnt any thai traffic law forum to my knowledge

Hey theres a topic idea, Thai road rules.
  4. Yes this is law if you are not actually overtaking someone and as stated believe on some roads motorbikes are not allowed in the right lane.

As regards contesting this in court...my first response is....cheesy.gif ....my second response in your defence why dont you claim the fine was politically motivated, seems that is an acceptable defence these day...

    OP said he was overtaking.

Take it on the chin OP and learn road rules.

  5. Dear OP

Why not Call her Half Thai as it fits your Discription of her. I too have a Young Daughter and with Irish/ English/Shan/Mon/Australian Heritage and will try and bring her up as a Internationalist, not as a Luk Krueng. Come to think of it what about 2 First names, one for each Half.

in reply to your 1st question.Well she is half Thai, that fits her heritage description. Are you suggesting her name should be actually Half Thai?

Your daughter has no choice as she has Thai/Aussie parents, she is luk kreung.

How do you describe bringing your daughter up as an internationalist? Please fill me in Im curious?

I dont see being luk kreung as a type of upbringing, its who she will be. Just as I have white skin, it has nothing to do with how I was brought up.

Sorry I find it slightly difficult to understand most of your post except the last bit about 2 names.

That isnt a bad idea and something the mother and I are also working on and probably will give her 2 names Thai/Eng or vice versa.

    I appeciate your ideas!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I will try and bring my daughter up with a dislike for Nationalists of any Country and to be Happy to be an Humanist, not to be labled half and half by many Adults. Being Luk Krueng is a concept by Thai,s. If you called someone half caste in the West the matter would end up in Court. Good Luck. PS. My Daughter has a Biblical then Thai first names.

Um, wrong sorry. Im in the west and being called half cast is fine. Why would it end up in court? obsurd comment mate certainly not racist, its multicultural thats all.

Your daughter is half cast, luk kreung whatever you wanna call it. Its her heritage whatever way you look at it.

How you choose to bring her up is your decision and I dont want to know and furthermore,

What nationalists etc as you mention have to do with me finding a name for my daughter is off topic and something I dont give a crap about.

    byebye.

  6. To the Op, the majority on here(That post-not lurk!) are British and yes we like to complain and moan and make the world a better place that is why we colonized the best parts of the planet. We are affectionatly known by our colonial cousins as whinging poms. It's part of the British culture. So take a green pill and chill mantongue.png

    True that chitty. Take Australia.

Great country, great beaches, warm weather, great lifestyle, best cricket team going, all colonized by the mother land.

Thanks!...and yes its also true, poms whinge.(take no offence)

  7. How strict is the VFS (and therefore the embassy) on requiring things like Thai marriage certificates and Tabien Bahn (House deeds) translated from Thai to english?

We've got lots of good paperwork (I reckon) but it's copies of Thai originals

They must be translated into English, there are numerous translation offices that will do it for about 400THB per A4 page.

If an Australian document is to be used in Thailand eg for marriage purposes it must be translated into Thai and then notarised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (fee payable).

yes correct, they must be translated. the easiest place perhaps not the cheapest is the service located ground floor of vfs building. I found it was most convenient although I helped them with translating which seemed abit un proffesional I thought.
  8. Which bar did employ her at 16?

Are you being rude or ignorant?

    Neither. Just being realistic.

Assuming for 1 minute that your ignorant statement may hold truth. What value does it offer in the context of what the OP is asking for?

topics finished but the fight now starts. stay tuned.
  9. No I did not check her ID. When I met her she worked at a pool hall serving drinks. Now I know this is Thailand but I just assumed you had to be over 18. Also since she was really good about lying about her age, she was also really good at keeping her identification away.

Her mom is ok about it (father passed). So I'm not worried about that. Just I know that technically the embassy is American soil so they can if they want, enforce their law.

I was thinking about running for the hills cause now I just can't trust her, but I love my son too much to just abandon him.

Just gonna have to see a lawyer I guess

Dont run away. Work through the issue and find the answer. There is 1.

Keep your chin up and dont panic mate
