  1. Nice video mate and lovely baby biggrin.png

It reminds me of the first shop i had in Sa Kaeo clean and new!

advice ........a shop with that small a range will not make money alone so you will have to add many more services to it!

You have the room out front to do many things for passing traffic and inside behind the desk get 2 or 3 pc's get a local specialist to load em up with games and charge 15 baht an hour to everyone .....you will make 10 to 15.000 a month just from this and you do not need to be online for this at first.later you can do this. When word gets round that the kids can play games ...even the adults will be coming.get online later.

Plenty of space there to expand to open a restaurant also, that is another avenue to explore with being on the roadside.

How far away from the school are you and the temple?

Can give you more ideas if you want! wink.png good luck with the business and your family.

Really like the internet idea! good 1.
  2. Could of contacted seller and got money back. Yes it usually is better to buy locally, pay a bit more and get quality.

For ten bucks? Sending the items back - postage - time wasted - asking for refund - getting refund - not worth it. Lesson learned was worth it.

exactly, not worth the hassle. Ive learned that lesson also. Better to go buy good quality in a real shop sometimes.
  3. Mr Krisp, Unicef here, would you go to Dr Congo and take a borehole pump with you, find some people or machinery to make the bore and fit the piping ect, you might need a filter system to make the water drinkable, dont forget to take a tent to live in,,

Ok, forward me 6k usd, im not living in a tent, i want a hotel!! ect ect ect,,

Im pretty sure that the only time aid gets to the needy without charity organisations is when western goverments do an air drop,

    Hi unicef, its Krisb here.

Sorry I dont know where Dr Congo is. However I do know where Issan is and yes I would gladly take your bore and pump there. I travel 3 times a year to this Thai region.

I dont need a hotel as I have a house in an area about 100km from Khon Kaen and if the area you mention is nowhere near here, there are members on here that Im sure would be happy to help get the pump to the right place and have a local tradesman install it. Local tradesman are very cheap compared to western wages as Im sure your CEO could verify.thumbsup.gif

A borehole, filter and pump costs about 30,000baht or less than 1000$AUS. Thats installed. Therefore I see no need to send you 6,000$. Even if I wanted a hotel, these are plentiful for $20 a night and food is cheap also up here, therefore the donated money could be used much more wisely and Im certain the good persons who donated the money wouldnt wish to see it wasted on excessive luxury.

An idea I have is why doesnt unicef consider finding like minded people to help with projects like you mention here as there are plenty of good folk who would only be to happy to assist in basic projects like this free of charge?

  4. My daughter is called Jennifer Ice.

Jennifer shortens to Jennie and is easily pronounced in both English and Thai.

The Ice part comes from the wife who decided that because both her and I are born on Tuesdays, and the daughter was supposed to be born on a Tuesday, too many "hot" people required a cold name. Daughter actually decided to come out on a friday but we kept the name anyway.

So it is Ice or nam kaeng?
  5. I will say this. I've had lousy luck with no-name electronics when the seller is in Asia. The last time it was a lot of 3 computer power supply testers for cheap and I bit. Every one of them was DOA, out of Hong Kong. No wonder the lot was just US $10 shipped!! I didn't even bother to complain. I still wound up paying the $25 for one brand name one which works great.

Worse, I could have thrown away 3 perfectly good 450w power supplies because my old, and 3 new testers all said they were bad! I finally broke open a known-good computer and decided that my old tester had died, and the 3 new were DOA.

Could of contacted seller and got money back. Yes it usually is better to buy locally, pay a bit more and get quality.
  6. Hi, I just checked the seller out. He has over 9000 feedback with very few negative and neutral feedback which is excellant and trustworthy.

Yes I would buy from him. Ive got over 600 feedback so I know ebay quite well

Im Australian, our power is 240volt which doesnt require using transformers in Thailand, lucky us.

Good luck, and yes trust that seller.

  7. "If you want to be involved in seeing Jesus proclaimed in this genuinely unreached area of the globe and to engage in building relationships that lead to planting new churches, please send an email to Phil Malone, Pioneers co-ordinator for this new work,"

That says it all really doesn't it?

yes it sure does say it all haha!

Phil Malone.....sounds abit like feel alone doesnt it

  8. Guys please ...

Neither my gf, nor the Farm is located in the Issan area.

The reason I asked you guys is that the Farm's location is quite isolated, similar to conditions that I assume you encounter in Issan. If anyone here has the smarts about themselves ... I figured it would the fine folk in Issan ... whistling.gif

There won't be any sort of building as it's my gf's parents Farm and not hers.

The family and I all get on very well.

Her Father is still a little gun shy as he is ex-Navy, but slowly we are winning him over.

Once won over, I am sure he will be my strongest supporter.

These are hard working Farming Folk ... the 'salt of the Earth' style that you can rely and depend upon.

So, when you are thinking about your experience to share ... think more isolated Farm and not isolated village, and that is closer to my situation ... biggrin.png

    Just like Issanbiggrin.png

  9. No electricity in the house you stay? No running water to? 4.500 Baht and you have a nice warm water heaterwink.png

Yeh, it has elec, so no problems there ... thumbsup.gif

As for the water heater ... couple of things.

I read the Housing Forum quite a bit and the Farm only has the low pressure town water and it appears not strong enough to make the electric hot water system to work.

Sure ... I could install a boosting pump ...BUT.

BUT ... I don't want to be the foreigner, coming to their home and implying that how they have lived over the past few decades is sh*it (even if it is).

I want to earn their respect buy toughing it out with them ... with some home comforts that I enjoy ... whistling.gif

    endure ... I don't own a kindle, but have a computer ... so enough.

    .

When l first came and rented a place there was no hot shower. Just shower off the mains. I installed an electric shower within two days laugh.png . She loved it. thumbsup.gif

Hey Transam, a fool and his money are soon parted!...dont you listen to others on here?
  10. Just read through the comments. Good God , why would anybody want to live like that. It beggers belief but i guess much younger fluff as a partner has lots to do with it. My advise , go take a look for a few weeks. It'll be an experience you'll never forget. Then high tail it to somewhere resembling normality..

    Typical wank comment David.

Dont listen to this douche. If your mrs is from the village then get used to it, or be prepared to spend on making the farm house falang or build your own as I did. I built a big 300sq metre place for under 30grand then when my daughters born put it in her name.

What a douche bag this guy telling you to high tail it after a bit. Crap.

A fool and his money are soon parted especially in Issan..coffee1.gif

Are you speaking from experience also mate?

    Tell us more.....

  11. This year my gf chucked in her 9-5 office job. Where we used to stay was on route for one of her fellow workers to pick her up and drop her off.

This time we are together 24/7 and we both will have SFA to do if we just do like we did the previous times ... hence the plan to live at the Farm.

I hope for your sake she hasn't caught the 'I gotta farang so I don't need to work anymore' bug! or the Gambling bug because either way, you will be the last to know. thumbsup.gif

Jealousy can be rife between Isaan women especially those who have found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Just cause you married a bad choice, doesnt mean David did....Unreal.
